Chapter 5 - Room 466

The elevator was occupied meaning I would have to wait for even longer. I leaned on the wall, my legs quivering out of fatigue. As I waited, a few other people had chosen their rooms and all headed to the elevator for a ride.

After minutes of waiting, the elevator's door finally opened and everyone rushed in.

'It's hot in here,' I thought as I was being pushed by the other people in the elevator. I slid my key into my pocket and moved to a corner of the elevator, observing everyone else.

A long stretch of silence emerged, leaving everyone in an awkward state, either staring at each other or the ceiling.

I raised my head high and stared at the elevator's ceiling, dipping my hands in my pockets to secure my keys.

Soon, the mechanical chime of the elevator echoed and the doors widened, its metallic finish reflecting everyone's faces.

I rushed out, eager to see my room. Others behind me maintained a slow and steady pace retaining the group's formation.

I walked a bit more along the hallway as others departed to their rooms. I was the last one left, in the comfort of the tranquility. Filled with boredom, I began whistling as I turned to the corner in search of my room.

'461... 462... 463' I called out the numbers above the doors as my legs slid over the bronze-colored floor.

'Yes, that's mine. 466!' A slight grin surfaced, my ears tingling and my eyes, as vast as the ocean.

I sprinted towards the door and inserted the key slowly. I twisted it, my heart pounding in excitement. I couldn't afford to wait any longer; my imagination of the room grew stronger.

However, I strived to maintain the calm attitude I displayed.

I twisted the door knob and the door smoothly opened, rotating to the left side of the room. My eyes immediately caught a white wall and some wallpapers waiting to be replaced.

The floor was covered with a mat that extended throughout the room in stripes of black, and white and a few designs of silver circles. I was filled with joy as I stepped my foot into the room.

I looked at the bed, readily prepared and emanating a clean white glow. Beside it was a side cabinet colored in a warm wooden color just like the door. There were aspects of greenery in the room—a small white vase with a domestic plant kept above the cabinet.

I dashed to the bed and sunk in its soft embrace. I hung my legs beyond the bed's side, trying to avoid staining the bed with my shoes. After a quick rest, I removed my shoes and dropped them beside the cabinet.

'That's right! The receptionist mentioned a kitchen and bathroom. All I've seen so far is a bedroom.' I mumbled, my voice becoming increasingly faint in the second sentence.

I raised my head, searching the entire room, trying to ascertain the location of the other room. At the left side of the room, there was a wardrobe stocked with clothes, and just beyond it was a door, covered by the clothes.

'That's why I couldn't spot it. Anyways, these clothes look nice.' I approached the wardrobe, sliding my fingers around the sleeves of the shirts and gently touching the trousers.

I felt satisfaction at the moment, assured of my survival in this mysterious place. I stretched my hand beyond the clothes and opened the door.

It was a bathroom.

The wardrobe served a good purpose, not only as a veil if someone would walk into my room, but it also served as a hiding spot if needed. I closed the door immediately and began my search for the kitchen as my stomach began rumbling in hunger.

I looked beside the wardrobe and there was another door. I was surprised as to why I hadn't seen it before but either way, I was still hungry. I rushed into the kitchen and ransacked the fridge in search of food. I grabbed all I could—ice cream, snacks, and even bread.

I opened the kitchen door and went back to my room, already eating the snacks I had taken. I fell on the bed and stared at the ceiling as I swallowed the food in my mouth.

'This is a life of luxury,' I thought as I wiped off the trace of ice cream on my lips. I stood up from the bed and stared out the window. It was the whole reason I chose the room.

Amidst tall structures on the premises, there was one that stood out, although partly covered by another building. It was a dome, circular and tall. Although its height wasn't as much as others, it still stood higher than most buildings.

Its weird shape caught my eye, leading me to question myself.

'Is that a generator house?' I looked through its glass ceiling and saw something dark materializing within the building's concrete confines. The whole sight was terrifying and disheartening.

Did they plan on throwing us into that dark space? I was unsure but I digested the facts alongside the snacks I had just gotten.

As I chewed down the food and ate the ice cream, I felt a sudden surge of pain in my stomach—a signal of impending distress.

'Oh no, why now?' I sighed, lifting my heavy body off the bed and staggering to the bathroom like an obese middle-aged man.

I opened the door behind the wardrobe and stepped inside. I was relieved to see a roll of toilet paper already placed in the toilet and I quickly eased myself of my discomfort.

[Attention! Head to Class 1-A in 12 hours] A voice echoed as I groaned in the toilet.

'Huh? What's that for?' I looked at a speaker in the toilet and was immediately distressed. My suspicions arose as I took a closer look at the speaker.

Luckily, I couldn't see any cameras but I still felt like my privacy was stolen, so I quickly finished up, took a quick shower, and went out of the bathroom.
