Chapter 2 - The Start

The entity suddenly shot a surprised look at me and jumped back. Her action was so instinctual that even she didn't know why she did it. Gazing at my body she was shocked as dark flames started to slowly engulf my body. Panicking she called her sister Diya, upon shouting her name she materialized next to Ema asking her "What's wrong?". Ema pointed at me and said "Please can you help my darling? He started screaming all of a sudden and now he is like this." Glancing at me she shook her head in exasperation and said, "You were too impatient, he was not supposed to undergo this process for another two months, you just had to rush the process didn't you."

Taken aback Ema counted in confusion "Process? What process? Wasn't my darling supposed to be happy to see me and we go and celebrate our reunion, hehehehehehe." Ema calmed down upon seeing Diya's reaction as she knew that Diya's love for their husband and her nonchalance calmed her down. Knowing that Diya knew more than herself she immediately asked "What is happening to my darling?" Sighing, Diya ignored Ema and started observing my body then my soul, seeing how broken it was she was heartbroken and angry that this annoying woman stupidly rushed the process to severely damage my soul.

Though Ema was pouting and annoying Diya for an answer she remained still and watched as my soul slowly melted and fused itself back together generating the dark flames around my body. As she saw Marco healing, she shot an annoyed look at Ema and slapped her across the face. Stunned by Diya's action Ema was stunned and stood frozen not knowing how to respond seeing the kind-hearted Diya using violence.

Just before Ema was going to give the impulsive Ema a lecture and an explanation something came out of the ground. It looked like decayed hands, knurled and withered it grabbed at my leg. Slowly more and more similar-looking arms shot out of the ground and slowly climbed my body. Looking like a macabre picture of hell dragging a soul into its depths the arms covered Marco until he was no longer visible.

The macabre sight sent shivers down both women's spins making them instinctively back away. Realizing what she did Ema shouting at Diya "Help WOMEN, just what the heck is happening to my darling!" Confusion, worry, despair, and longing were all heard in Ema's pain-filled shouts as she gazed at the sight before her.

The hands petrified slowly over Marco's unmoving body, showing a pained face Diya pulled Ema back further and protected them with a shield of beautiful violet energy. Before Ema could voice her dissatisfaction, dark fire exploded from Marco as the epicentre turning everything it touched to ash and consuming the life force from within its victims. The fire remained around Marco at a radius of 6km. Making the area a zone of death where nothing could enter and escape alive.

Seeing the process Diya suddenly began to explain "What you are seeing now is our husband's soul reaching outwards and consuming anything it can to nourish itself. As the damage it suffered was extreme normally enough to kill primordial gods like Erebus, Gaia, Ra, or even the mighty Shiva many times over our husband is unique."

Thinking to herself that the seal placed on Marco was being devoured she reminisced on the old days when they were a loving family but had to break that loving cycle due to a bet of all things. Both watched as the arms slowly started to be absorbed and a pressure so powerful that gravity seemed to explode causing everything within miles to be flattened. Seeing the visible destruction Diya narrowed her eyes and waved her hand surrounding Marco in a barrier where his power would not leak into the mortal world.

As the arms started to be absorbed into his body Marco slowly opened his eyes in that comfortable darkness. Seeing nothing around him he swam through the never-ending sea and found something. Something he felt was very nostalgic and foreign. The item in front of him was a simple sword, a simple-looking sword that was too large to be wielded by normal people. An honest description by anyone with fighting experience would be that this sword was simply impractical in a fight. Being too big, heavy and a length of 2 meters the sword was by all means impractical to all except Marco felt at ease.

Giving the weapon gentle eyes he reached for the scabbard and took hold of the sword. Slowly as if by magic the sword melted and began covering Marco's body with a light metal substance. Dancing as it reunited with its master the sword slowly began melding into his body and reinforcing it. First were his muscles, next his bones, organs then his soul.

Feeling hot and rejuvenated from the combination of himself and the weapon Marco closed his eyes and savoured the feeling of unlimited power flowing through his veins. Feeling unbearable pain again his eyes shot open and a roar was heard. A roar so loud so potent that it tore the air around him, space was shredded, and the barrier that was protecting the surrounds was almost destroyed.

Thankfully Diya reacted quickly pushing more energy into the barrier while shouting at Ema to help. Doing as told Ema channelled her power into the barrier and the combined effort barely stopped the space outside of the barrier from being annihilated. Still in pain, Marco clutched his head and tried his best to calm down. Tried everything he knew to relax and failed miserably, the pain continuously bombarded him and only agony was felt even after he fainted.

The weapon tried its best to support its master but all it could do was continue to nourish his master's soul. Ten more minutes of this occurred and a figure appeared in front of Marco. Seeing the pained face before it, the figure intervened and reduced the pain Marco was in. Though the pain was mitigated it still felt as though he was being speared continuously. Gritting his teeth he croaked "Who are you? What is happening to me?" the last part came out in a pathetic dredge but the intention was understood.
