Chapter 2 - Chapter 2:The Day Everything Changed

A tall boy, dressed in black clothes and wearing a pair of white slippers, was walking as usual toward school with a cup of coffee in his right hand. Sipping from the hot coffee, he thought to himself:

"I'm going to school again, like every day. Why do we have to go to school every single day? Anyway, the teachers come in half an hour late, and even when they do, they don't teach us much of anything."

Lost in the morning thoughts, he arrived in the classroom with a tired look on his face. He sat in his seat and waited for the teachers, but they didn't seem to show up.

"As usual… they're not on time today either," he muttered to himself, trying to ignore his frustration.

After half an hour, the door finally opened, and the teacher walked in without saying a word. He sat at his desk and seemed completely uninterested. Time passed slowly, and eventually, the clock struck 4.

"Finally! It's over! Do you want to grab a coffee?" a classmate asked.

"Yeah, let's go," he replied.

While his other classmates organized themselves to go for coffee, he quietly prepared to leave. Without saying a word, he headed home. Outside, darkness had already fallen, and the streetlights were lit as he walked.

Suddenly, a deafening noise broke the silence. Loud booms, one after another, shook the ground. Ray froze, his heart pounding wildly. A blinding white light filled the sky for a few seconds, leaving him disoriented.

"What the hell is going on?" he whispered, his voice trembling.

But after a short while, everything seemed to calm down. There was no sign of the explosions or the light. Then, all at once, alarms across the city began to sound. They echoed from every direction, but surprisingly, they stopped in less than three minutes.

"Is it war or something like that?" he wondered, trying to suppress his fear.

He hadn't finished his thought when another explosion was heard, this time followed by a terrifying fire. The smoke was so thick it was visible even in the darkness of the night. Ray felt paralyzed with fear.

The fire was coming from the direction of his house. His eyes widened in terror, and a desperate cry escaped his throat:

"No!"

He started running but was soon forced to stop. His breath was short, and his legs trembled uncontrollably. He leaned against a lamppost, trying to catch his breath. The thought of his parents gave him the strength to go on. With every step, hope mixed with fear.

He wanted only one thing: for his parents to be safe. Once he regained his breath, he started running toward his house again. Finally, he arrived, and in that moment, he fell to his knees. His entire neighborhood was engulfed in flames. The feeling of sadness was quickly replaced by terror when he saw hundreds of tall creatures with four arms, circular mouths, and a sharp horn in the middle of what seemed to be a head. Overwhelmed by fear, he started running away.
