Chapter 13 - The Athon Bear

As soon as the pack of wolves saw that the wolf leaders were killed, they fled in all directions.

When Lynn saw that the situation was about to get out of control, he implored Wynter. "Uncle, they're escaping."

"Not for long." Wynter uttered. "Cut them off. Don't let anyone of them escape."

With an order, nearly a hundred hunters holding bows and spears immediately surrounded the scattered wolves.

The sound of whistling arrows and swooshing spears trailed the forest, one after another, cutting down the wolves as they tried to flee.

In a moment, there were only a dozen wolves left in the entire wolf pack, and they quickly fled towards the opposite direction of the dark forest.

As long as they reached the cover of the forest, they should all be able to escape to the heart of the forest.

Seeing that the dire wolves were escaping to the edge of the forest, Guyon also chased after them.

Nearing the fleeing wolves, he raised the bow in his hand, and three essence arrows shot forward. The three dire wolves running straight ahead were pierced to death by the arrows.

Guyon was nodding in satisfaction when a powerful roar came from the further part of the forest. He was still startled when a huge bear of six meters in height, with some human features, came out of the forest.

An Athon bear which had reached the level of partial transformation..

The mage saw the bear looked at the direction of the valley before letting out an angry roar. Immediately, he shot several arrows at the bear without hesitation, and at the same time, retreated.

Seeing the arrows coming at it, the bear lifted his paws and swathed them out of the air. But the arrows were followed by three fireballs. There was no more playing around for Guyon now.

The three fire balls shook the bear a few steps backward. Then, it found that there were three more fireballs passing through the smoke from the explosion of the first three fireballs, and were aiming for its head.

The bear hit the ground with its paws and a thick wall of earth rose up in front of it.

The three fireballs hit the earth wall, but didn't explode. The successive fierce attacks by Guyon had consumed a high amount of essence and mental power from him.

So, this round of fire balls did not have the explosive power they needed, but he used them to buy himself a little time to recover.

After the last three arrows of Guyon flew forward, he quickly leaped backwards and retreated ten meters away. Taking a sharp breath, his essence began to recover. The whole action was done in one go, but his eyes never left the bear.

Guyon knew that this silver-level bear monster was not easy to deal with. With him just becoming a silver-level mage, he was afraid that he was not its opponent.

While thinking about it, he heard another roar from the bear. The earth wall in front of it quickly pushed forward, smashing at Guyon.

At this time, due to the previous battle, Guyon had consumed more than half of his essence, and he no longer had the power to manifest any form of attack.

Seeing the earth wall, raised in front of the bear, coming towards him, Guyon quickly recited a spell and leapt into the air towards the bear.

Just when he was less than twenty meters from the top of the bear's head, he turned sharply and quickly got out of the bear's attack range.

However, the tens of flame spears shot forward from him, towards the bear with incomparable penetrating power.

This was the "Hundred Flame Spears" attack that Guyon mastered when he reached the silver-level stage as a mage. But since he had consumed too much of his essence already, he could only turn out tens of fire spears.

At this time, Guyon knew that his depleted essence was insufficient to face the bear, it was already difficult for him to kill the bear when he was having a full essence, along with his strong power base.

Seeing the oncoming flaming spears, a yellow sphere suddenly covered the huge body of the bear just as the spears struck.

Flaming spears passed through the sphere and pierced the slope where the bear stood before, making a muffled noise, but raising massive dust.

When the dust settled, there were no traces of the bear. Was the shadow of the bear not in the same place just now? Only tens of forged fire spears were embedded in the ground.

At this moment, countless thorns suddenly burst from the ground, following a straight line, chasing after Guyon and attacking wildly.

Earth skills? Guyon was shocked, and quickly rushed back to Lynn at the same time.

From Guyon's attack to his escape, it took only a few tens of seconds. When Lynn saw that the situation was not right, he immediately called to Wynter to help them with it..

At this critical juncture, they all saw Wynter, leaping through the air with a large Warhammer of more than thirty meters in length and a diameter of more than twenty meters.

There was no pattern decoration on the hammer body, just like the hammer used by ordinary blacksmiths to strike iron, but was forged out of the essence of his crystal.

Wynter pressed his hands on the handle of the hammer and it hummed, it seemed that there was an eerie feeling exuding from the hammer..

After letting Guyon ran pass him, he swung the large forged hammer in mid-air, and hit the earth spears with a heavy blow.

A thunderous sound echoed in the forest, and the whole earth shook violently. Some of the hunters felt wobbly on their feet, and fell to the ground one after another.

The bear was gathering all its strength to chase Guyon, thinking that it was time to kill this damned human being. Its attack was about to hit the fleeing human, when all of a sudden, a loud noise resounded, followed by a huge descending pressure.

The bear instantly gathered his whole body's essence and fortified its body shield. And being in the underground several meters deep, it would just take the blow head-on.

But still, the bear felt that the blood in its body had evaporated instantly, its hair roots exploded, and its eyes were about to pop out. It was even more shocked by the huge shock wave resulting from the impact.

It tumbled from the beneath the surface of the ground to the outside. After a few seconds, it fell heavily to the ground.

It struggled to get up from the ground, knowing that he had encountered a high-level warrior. This person had to be preventing it from chasing after its enemy.

So, the bear manifested four earth pillars just as the second hammer strike of Wynter arrived. There was another mighty booming sound which resulted in a deafening shock wave across the forest.

The four earth pillars walls were instantly shattered by the hammer, leaving a huge pit on the ground.

The bear lay in the middle of the deep pit, with its two fore palms raised up high, its lower body plunged into the soil, it was already spraying blood from his mouth and nose at this time, but they didn't know if it was dead or alive.

Wynter snorted coldly, and leaped towards the bear.
