Chapter 3 - My best childhood friends are dying. Who's killing them?

My childhood best friend Wong died, and before he died, he reported me for extorting bribes, which put me in a bribery crisis.

But during my investigation, I found that Wong's death was not so simple, it seemed to be related to the disappearance of a little girl 20 years ago.

The three young boys involved in the disappearance, Wong, Chang, Bin. One of them Wong died.

But now, Feng tells me, Chang is dead, too.

Chang died naked on a mountain in a gruesome manner, and forensics found someone else's DNA under Chang's fingernails.

They ran the DNA through the database and matched it to a man named Jack.

And this Jack, he died of liver cancer two years ago. Everyone was surprised to hear the news.

Leader Feng sent a special team to Shaanxi, and after data verification, Jack was indeed dead.

Forensics collected DNA from Jack's son, and it matched the DNA from Chang's fingernails.

Feng said that they requested an exhumation, but Jack was cremated after his death, so no autopsy could be performed.

Police in both places are at a loss to explain why the human tissue in Chang's fingernails belonged to a dead man.

In the end, the police of the two places fought and blamed each other, which was very unpleasant. This case is just gonna hang up and go away.

I have a headache. I found another dead man.

For some reason, I suddenly thought of "Jiang," Wong's long-dead drug dealer.

The next day, when the "godmother" woke up, I received Feng's notice and rushed to the hospital immediately.

The "godmother" was lying on the hospital bed, her eyes empty and desperate.

People from the procuratorate and Zhao were also in the ward. The nurse said angrily that the patient was still very weak and could not stand being disturbed.

I was driven out of the ward by Zhao. He said he was being questioned. Don't stay here.

I went out of the ward and waited at the entrance to the inpatient department.

After smoking for an hour, Zhao and they hurried out of the elevator, and I hurried to meet them.

Seeing me, Zhao pointed to his car without stopping and asked me to get on the bus immediately.

The car was driving on the bypass and no one was talking. I felt uneasy, not knowing what would happen to me this time.

Feng was sitting next to me. I poked him with my hand, but he didn't answer me.

I hit him hard, and Feng, this asshole, took the handcuffs out of his back, and I thought it was over.

Feng held the manacles and said Lam, brother is also a beggar, today the above ordered to arrest you, brother had to go, you don't try to seize the car resistance, and finally killed us all, and then a Jedi escape, then the life will be difficult.

Zhao turned back to give Feng a ear scratch, and the driver also laughed.

I looked at the three people laughing back and forth, are dumbstruck, Zhao refrained from laughing, said that you "godmother" told the truth, you are not asking for bribes.

I was relieved, but I didn't understand why I had been given my bank card.

'Mr. Wong wants to trap you in this way because he is afraid you will find out about a previous case,' Mr. Zhao said.

I thought of Ceci's disappearance, but I thought it was wrong, and said that with this method, it would soon be found out.

Zhao said that as long as people hide until this year's National Day, after the National Day, even if it is found out is not afraid.

I asked why?

Feng said that the prosecution period is well, by the National Day of this year, the prosecution period of his case will have passed 20 years.

I told Zhao what I knew, and he asked me to report back and have a meeting to discuss tomorrow.

The next morning, the class meeting, Zhao announced that I join, and then began to discuss the case.

Wong went to buy drugs on New Year's Eve and was involved in a car accident on the way. Zheng, who was in charge of the case, never found the car.

Zhao was very angry and gave Zheng the last three days, saying that if he couldn't find another car, he would get out.

Wong told me before he died that the drug dealer he contacted was called "Jiang," and Zhao had asked the narcotics detachment to investigate "Jiang."

The anti-drug police found out that two months ago, a foreigner came to buy drugs, and he did not smoke, but bought drugs at high prices.

Meanwhile, the foreigner, who called himself "Qiang" and whose accent sounds like "Jiang," last picked up his goods on April 19, three days before Wong's death.

The out-of-towners bought a lot of goods that day, the drug dealers were not enough, and the agreement was made up later, but after Wong's accident, the out-of-towners disappeared.

Feng couldn't figure out who the middle-aged man was in Wong's arson.

He and Zheng were scolded by Zhao.

After the meeting, Feng and I went back to the office.

I took out the materials and flipped through the pages.

Turning to the victim's files, I looked at Wong's resume and couldn't help but say something.

Feng heard the sound and leaned over to look.

I pointed to his educational experience, which said that from September 2002 to June 2006, he studied at the Law School of XX University and obtained a bachelor's degree in law.

Feng looked at me puzzled and I asked him, why did Wong report me?

Feng said to survive the prosecution.

I said yes, LL.B. in addition to knowing the date of prosecution, you should know that this only applies to criminal cases, but Ceci fell into the water and disappeared, obviously not criminal cases.

I corner the page and scroll down to Wong's autopsy report.

It records the results of the forensic examination on Wong's body.

I noticed his lab results. Wong had a pinhole in his right bicep and high levels of methamphetamine in his blood.

Feng said Wong had injected a large amount of drugs before his death, and they speculate that Wong experienced hallucinations after using the drugs and accidentally fell into a pit.

I looked at the file and smiled and said, you guys, don't you see the problem?

I asked Feng Meng, he looked at me, puzzled.

I said that meth is usually smoked and rarely injected, and that I didn't think Wong was addicted enough to inject.

Feng nodded and I threw him a ballpoint pen and asked him to hold it in his right hand and prick his right bicep.

Feng paddled for a long time, and the ballpoint pen dropped to the ground.

I said there's a problem here. Feng looked at me with a blank expression.

Gas does not hit a place, I asked him just the action is not awkward? He said awkward.

I said Wong felt awkward too.

Feng said he could use his left hand, then picked up the ballpoint pen and made a motion of tying his right arm with his left hand.

I said, why don't you ask him with his left hand?

Feng thought for a moment and said, Could it be that his left hand is inconvenient?

I sighed and said you go get Wong's injury report from the accident and come back and copy it for me!

I folded this page, too, and continued to scroll, to the list of physical evidence at the scene.

It lists the victim's belongings found at the crime scene - a monthly bus pass, a mobile phone, 103.4 yuan in cash, a set of house keys, a hospital card and an adjustable walking stick.

These things are accompanied by photos, my eyes stop on the cane, always feel it is wrong, and can not say why.

I asked Feng, where are these things now?

He said they were in the evidence room.

When we arrived at the evidence room, Feng pointed out to me a silver-white walking stick. This cane. I did see it at Wong's before.

I said have you moved this stick?

Feng said it's been sitting here, untouched.

I asked Feng to set up the crutch, Feng tried it, and this crutch worked perfectly for him.

Feng took a few steps and I asked him how he felt.

Feng said it was good, with soft armpit pads, firm handles and moderate weight.

I laughed and Feng asked me what I was laughing about. I asked Feng how high it was and he said 1.83 meters.

I asked him, How tall is Wong?

Feng got it.

Wong is only 1.68 m but uses a length of 1.83 m.

With that, I also folded the page.

Wong's death, there are many puzzling places, I want to find the "godmother" to ask, but learned that she is in a coma again.

Feng asks, Lam, what shall we do now?

I said Wong and Chang are dead, but there's another Bin. Let's go find him.

The information database on the Internet did not have the "Bin" we were looking for, and Feng made great efforts to dig out the original household registration card of Bin from the archives of the household registration management center of the Municipal Bureau.

In 1995, Bin's family moved to Wuhan, Hubei Province, where he changed his name.

His name is now Bing instead of Bin.

With the help of Wuhan police, we found Bing.

After Zhao's approval, Feng and I went to Wuhan.

The neighborhood police led us to his house and surprised me when they opened the door. Bing was now a big fat man. We hung out 20 years ago, but we can't connect this guy to that skinny Bin.

Feng showed his credentials and said we are the police from your hometown and came to know something.

Bing's wife, holding the baby, looked at us in surprise.

I said don't worry, just talk.

Bing's wife's puzzled eyes turned back and forth on us, and Bing asked her to take the baby to the bedroom first.

Bing beckoned us to sit down and asked what was up.

I asked, your old friends, Chang and Wong, do you remember them?

Bing's massive frame shuddered, slightly, but I sensed it. Bing, however, shook his head and said no.

Feng pointed to me and said, Bing, this is your classmate Lam from primary school, didn't you recognize him?

Bing looked at me, his eyes flashing, but he still said he didn't know me.

Looking at Bing's attitude, I gave Feng a look. We've been partners for years, and he knew what I meant right away.

Feng coughed and suddenly snapped at Bing, "Someone accused you of conspiring with Wong to kill Chang, and now we're going to take you back!"

When Bing said this, he was surprised, and even I was a little confused. I just told him to change the Angle, but this guy just started talking nonsense.

But lying helps, Bing says, "No way, I haven't talked to them in years." Then he realized something was wrong and his face changed.

I looked at Bing and said, you don't know them?

Bing was stunned and silent for a long time. Finally, he sighed and said with firm eyes, "We really haven't been in touch for a long time, let alone conspiring to kill someone."

I said Officer Stone was just testing the waters, but if we're here, that means you're involved.

"Chang is really dead?" Bing asked me.

I nodded, told him to prepare himself mentally, took out the photo of Chang's murder scene, and handed it to Bing.

He glanced twice and returned the photo to me, unable to speak for a long time.

After a while, he stammered and asked me, Did Wong kill him?

I shook my head and said that Officer Feng had just challenged you.

Bing got angry and said, "Why are you cops doing this?"

I say you don't shout, it would be better if Wong killed people, the problem is much more complicated.

Bing was stunned and asked what do you mean?

I said Wong is dead, worse than Chang.

Bing looked ugly and asked how Wong died.

I took out the photo of Wong's murder scene again, and Bing waved his hand and said not to look at it.

But when I put it back together, he said, "Look at it."

Wong's scene photos, I picked them out.

The front image of Wong, with blood on his face and slightly open eyes, is pierced through steel bars in his abdomen, with scattered human tissue still hanging from it.

Bing took a timid look, quickly returned the photo, said nothing, and lit a cigarette.

I asked Bing what they thought?

Bing said it was their business, not mine.

"And Ceci, is it none of your business?" Feng interjected.

The name "Ceci" clearly irritated Bing, who shook his hand and sent the soot straight down his pants.

"Of the three of you, two have already died. If you don't want to die, you'd better tell the truth." I stared at Bing, who hung his head, afraid to look at me.

We talked to Bing for four hours.

After all, it was a long time ago, and Bing had to remember slowly, but he always avoided the key questions, which made us angry.

Bing always lied to us, Feng couldn't stand it, took out his handcuffs and threw them on the coffee table.

Feng said, if you cheat again, you will be handcuffed directly to the bureau for trial.

I was there, persuading Bing to come clean and save everyone trouble.

Bing thought for a moment, then got up, grabbed a bottle of liquor from the liquor cabinet, and took a swig.

Bing said Ceci didn't go overboard.

One afternoon in September 1995, Wong, Chang, and Bing (then called Bin) were playing a game by the river.

The three people dug a deep pit on the beach, built a "beam" on the pit with branches, covered it with a woven bag, and spread soil on the woven bag, ready to deceive people to "step on the trap".

When the three discussed, Ceci passed by the river alone, and the three decided to cheat her.

Three kids, you asked Ceci to play.

When Ceci walked towards them, she fell into the "trap", and the three children were above, dancing with joy.

Ceci wanted to climb out, but the three children had not played enough and tried various ways to stop her from coming up.

Three people are busy, I do not know who threw a big stone, hit Ceci.

Ceci began to cry and kept saying she would go home and tell her mother.

Three people are afraid, Ceci's mother is very strong, usually no one dares to provoke, if she knows, they all have to be beaten.

Chang tried to pull Ceci up, but Wong stopped him, holding up a rock and saying, 'If you don't tell your mother, we'll pull you up.'

Ceci was crying and saying, "I'm going to tell my mom, and my mom is going to tell your mom, and I'm going to kill you!"

Wong threw the rock down and instructed the other two children to do the same, but Bing dared not throw any more and said to pull her up.

Wong refused, saying she came up to Sue her parents! Then continue throwing rocks with Chang.

Ceci cried and cried, but in the deserted river, no one could hear her crying except the three of them.

The more Wong and Chang threw stones, the weaker Ceci's cries sounded.

Finally Ceci stopped crying and closed her eyes.

No matter how the three children shouted, she was silent.
