Chapter 8 - The Challenge of Convincing

After hours of intense research, a tired Jay finally prepared for bed, feeling both excited and nervous. His goal was clear: to somehow convince his parents to invest in the stocks he recommended without getting laughed at. The System, as usual, found endless amusement in Jay's situation.

System (teasing): "I can't wait to see how you try to convince your parents. This should be good."

Jay rolled his eyes, trying to ignore the System's mocking tone. He knew this wouldn't be easy, but he was determined. As he drifted off to sleep, his mind was filled with thoughts of success and the future.

When he woke up, he felt different. Groggy and disoriented, Jay tried to get his bearings. The room looked the same, but something felt off. He quickly checked the calendar and clock, only to find out it was a different day and time.

Jay (frustrated): "What the heck? Why is it a different day?"

The System, ever smug and mysterious, gave a sly smile.

Jay: "System, why didn't you tell me I couldn't go back to the same day?"

The System laughed, clearly enjoying the confusion.

System (smirking): "I did, didn't I? I said 'maybe.' You shouldn't trust someone so easily."

Jay sighed in frustration, feeling a mix of anger and confusion. It was summer holiday time. Despite feeling frustrated and puzzled, Jay didn't give up. Determined to make the best of the situation, he started planning how to convince his parents.

He knew he needed to make a compelling presentation to show his parents, but the main challenge was answering their inevitable question: Where did he learn and research this stuff from? They had no internet or computer at home, so how would he explain his newfound knowledge?

Determined, Jay spent hours crafting a convincing presentation. He used all the knowledge he had memorized, noting key facts, charts, and projections that could demonstrate the potential of the investments he was proposing.

When the time came, Jay took a deep breath and approached his parents cautiously. He found them in the living room, enjoying a quiet evening. Summoning all his courage, he spoke up.

Jay: "Mom, Dad, I have something important to talk to you about."

His parents looked up, surprised by his serious tone.

Dad: "What's on your mind, Jay?"

Jay cleared his throat, trying to keep his voice steady.

Jay: "I've been doing a lot of research lately, and I found some interesting opportunities in the stock market. I believe these investments could really help our family in the future."

His parents exchanged puzzled glances.

Mom: "Jay, where did you learn about this? We don't have a computer or internet at home."

Jay hesitated, knowing this would be the toughest part to explain. He decided to keep it simple and as truthful as possible.

Jay: "I've been reading books and learning from whatever resources I could find. I know it sounds unusual, but I truly believe in this."

His dad raised an eyebrow, still skeptical.

Dad: "And what exactly are these investments you're talking about?"

Taking a deep breath, Jay began his presentation. He talked about the potential of companies like Tat* Steel, Hin**lco, Suzl** Energy, and DL*, showing them charts and data he had memorized, and explaining why these investments could be game-changers for their future.

His parents listened intently, clearly impressed by the depth of his knowledge. But then, they started whispering to each other, a look of concern crossing their faces.

Mom (whispering to Dad): "This doesn't seem right. Where is he getting all this information? It sounds suspicious."

Dad (whispering back): "You're right. What if someone bad is feeding him all this stuff?"

Turning back to Jay, his dad asked more questions.

Dad: "Jay, where did you find these books? Where did you research about these stocks and companies? Are you sure you're not getting this information from someone else?"

Jay found it hard to answer. He knew the questions were coming but still struggled to provide convincing answers.

Jay: "I found the books at the library and have been reading a lot. I just... put everything together from what I read."

His mom looked unconvinced, her worry growing.

Mom: "Jay, this is a lot for a kid your age. Are you sure you're not getting help from someone?"

The System, watching from the sidelines, couldn't resist adding its two cents.

System (smirking): "Well, Jay, looks like they're not laughing. That's a good start."

Jay ignored the System, focusing on his parents. He needed to be calm and composed.

Jay: "I know it seems risky, but I've done the research. I believe this can work. I just need you to trust me."

His dad nodded slowly, still deep in thought.

Dad: "Alright, Jay. We'll think about it. But let's take it one step at a time, okay?"

Feeling a wave of relief, Jay smiled.

Jay: "Thank you. That's all I'm asking for."

After Jay left the room, his parents exchanged worried looks.

Mom: "We need to find out where he's getting all this information. It's not normal for a kid his age to know so much about stocks and companies."

Dad: "You're right. We should talk to his teachers and see if they've noticed anything unusual. Maybe they can help us figure out what's going on."

Despite the uncertainties, Jay felt a renewed sense of determination. He had taken the first step in convincing his parents, and now it was time to continue proving himself. The journey ahead was filled with challenges, but Jay was ready to face them head-on.

As he prepared to return to his research, the System hovered nearby, its smirk ever-present.

System (teasing): "Not bad, Jay. But this is just the beginning. Let's see if you can keep it up."

Jay nodded, feeling a mixture of excitement and resolve.

Jay (thinking): "I can do this. This is just the start of something great."
