"You will need to get cleaned up and have a moment to yourself before dinner so I will retire to my room. I," Selene stopped when Xavier held her hand.
"I don't need a moment to myself. I was riding around in a carriage alone. Besides, I came with gifts you might want to see. At least try on one so I know they fit," said Xavier.
Selene looked at the boxes the maids were going out to bring in. There weren't many but the mere fact he had brought gifts for her was enough. "I didn't know you had so much time for this kind of outing. Are your parents closer than I am thinking?"
"No. They are a bit out of the way just as I like them to be. Stop thinking about them and focus on my gifts," Xavier said, taking a box of shoes from a maid's hands.
