With the power cut, all the lighting systems failed, and to an ordinary observer, the subway station would appear completely shrouded in darkness.
Yet, within this impenetrable blackness, there were scattered flickers of light, sharp and erratic, exuding an unmistakable aura of hostility and bloodlust, flashing intermittently.
It was evident that the owners of these lights were the myriad of monsters lurking on the first level of the subway station.
The crimson pupils dilated slightly, and the various mutated beasts and insectoid creatures came sharply into focus.
To describe the scene in one word:
A maelstrom of chaos.
In the face of the sudden intrusion by Zhang Yang, these mutated creatures sensed the looming threat. After a brief hesitation, they surged forward like a tide, their claws bared, their fury palpable.
"Annoying."
Zhang Yang furrowed his brow slightly.
Despite their numbers, these creatures held no interest for him. Their threatening roars, though loud, were merely a cacophony, failing to instill even the slightest sense of danger.
Releasing his mental power, a hum filled the air.
Invisible waves spread out, and in an instant, the majority of the first level of the subway station was enveloped, forming a vast psychic field!
Simultaneously, the oppressive aura of the Zombie King emanated outward.
Though the enemies before him were not zombies and thus immune to the direct subjugation of his aura, his advantage of being a fifth-tier evolved individual still instilled an overwhelming sense of dread in these creatures.
As his aura spread, the mutated beings within a hundred-meter radius were immediately engulfed by its crushing force.
First-tier and second-tier creatures, due to their higher evolutionary level and differing species, could still move with some effort, retaining limited combat ability.
However, the Zero-tier creatures at the bottom of the food chain were utterly powerless.
The least intelligent among them, the mutated insectoids, collapsed en masse, with swarms of flying insects plummeting to the ground, and many crawling creatures remaining completely motionless, defenseless and ready to be slaughtered.
The mutated beasts too recoiled, cowering on the ground, some even whimpering and begging for mercy.
They hoped that this formidable Zombie King might spare their lives.
Zhang Yang merely cast a disdainful glance at these creatures.
Then, with a swift mental command, he crushed them all—snakes, insects, rodents, and ants—all eradicated!
In the blink of an eye, the first level of the subway station was bathed in gore.
Blood, bodily fluids, and the remains of these creatures sprayed across the area, forming rivulets across the ground, connecting the flattened corpses crushed by his overwhelming mental power.
In mere moments, nearly 60% of the enemies in the subway station's first level were wiped out, leaving only a handful of elites who had miraculously survived the psychic onslaught.
"Roar!!"
A furious roar rang out.
Realizing that this Zombie King was far beyond anything they had encountered—its power far surpassing that of the humans they had faced—it was their natural enemy.
The remaining first- and second-tier mutated creatures, driven by fear, began to cooperate.
Simultaneously, they launched an attack on Zhang Yang, who was advancing with chilling confidence.
A first-tier Saber-toothed Rabbit leapt suddenly, its razor-sharp fangs aiming directly for Zhang Yang's neck, seeking to sever his carotid artery.
But before it could land, the creatures were trapped by the psychic field.
Frozen in mid-air, unable to move or break free, they could only watch helplessly as Zhang Yang used his mental power to tear open their chests, extracting the energy crystals from their hearts, grinding them into powder, and swallowing them whole.
Finally, the psychic restraint lifted.
The corpses of the Saber-toothed Rabbits fell to the ground, while Zhang Yang had already moved forward, cutting a bloody swath through the remaining mutated beasts and insectoids as if he were a god of slaughter.
This was a one-sided massacre.
As a fifth-tier evolved being, Zhang Yang's psychic powers were immense. In the moment, he had transformed his mental energy into a force field that allowed him not only to detect every subtle shift within it but also to execute a variety of operations.
"Roar!!"
Two second-tier Sandstorm Hounds charged forward, attempting to repeat their previous tactics.
But they too were trapped within the psychic field, unable to move, their struggles futile.
However, this was just a diversion.
Zhang Yang's senses suddenly alerted him to a large, silver-white spider the size of a small car, spinning a pristine web above him.
At that very moment, the spider was ready to release the web to ensnare him, rendering him immobile.
"Ah, so you can coordinate as well. No wonder those Black Death Club members were caught off guard earlier," Zhang Yang chuckled lightly, realizing the cause of their demise.
Just as the white web descended, Zhang Yang swiftly retreated under the influence of his psychic power, easily evading the ambush.
Not stopping there, after avoiding the web, Zhang Yang reached out with his mental power, seizing the web and flinging it to the side, ensnaring three mutated wildcats that had attempted to approach.
The tough, milky-white threads of the web were nearly indestructible.
The three mutated wildcats were trapped instantly, and Zhang Yang promptly extracted three energy crystals, tossing them into his space panel.
He then turned his gaze to the remaining mutated creatures, a dangerous smirk tugging at his lips.
"Roar!"
Despite the few skirmishes, the mutated creatures had failed to inflict significant harm on the Zombie King. In fact, the ones who had tried to kill him were now dying in droves.
At this moment, what had once been a fierce, bloodthirsty mob of creatures began to be overtaken by fear and reason. Their once uncontrollable desire to tear Zhang Yang apart, to feast on his flesh, began to dissipate.
Now, these mutated beings, in their desperation, sought to retreat.
Their attitude became markedly more submissive and respectful, hoping to convey their sincerity in an attempt to have the terrifying Zombie King spare them from annihilation.
But alas.
From the very beginning, Zhang Yang had never intended to show mercy to the creatures outside or inside the subway station.
Securing the treasure was important, but the corpses of these mutated creatures offered valuable resources—flesh to nourish and energy to cultivate new allies.
Thus, Zhang Yang spared no one. With unstoppable force, he relentlessly slaughtered every last mutated creature on the first level of the subway station.
Blood flowed like rivers, and corpses piled high.
Wherever his psychic power touched, death was certain.
Within mere minutes, the battle was concluded.
Zhang Yang wiped the blood from his hands with a handkerchief, then snapped his fingers.
In an instant, the hundreds of mangled, unrecognizable corpses were gathered into his storage space.
The energy crystals were extracted for his use, while the flesh and blood were preserved to cultivate more undead subordinates.
