Xu Ling stealthily pressed a button on his watch signaling Li Wei to bring in the others while examining the so called brother. He looked in every way human, no sense of wrongness or being out of place, just normal like any random person on the street. But it's due to that fact that there was a chill frosty enough to reach their bones when they looked at him, for once being normal just wasn't right.
"They want to take Mom away" Shu said
"Well she did do something wrong so you can't really blame them. Now be a good boy and come to brother" he replied stretching out his hands.
"I'm not leaving without mother" he said clenching her hand tightly.
"Now Shu didn't I tell you to listen to me besides she wanted to kill you a few days ago so that she could escape her guilt but I stopped her so we wouldn't separate. I'm your best friend aren't I so let's always be together" he said his smile soft as if coaxing a child.
"Don't you dare touch my son you monster. Shu listen to mommy okay" Chen Jing said squeezing his hand painfully. The dark mana suddenly became denser and the seconds became suffocating
"Shu..." He began his aura becoming dangerous
"I should listen to mother but I did hear someone say my sibling knows better so..." Shu said removing his hand and walking to his brother side .
"Besides brother only needs me, I know Mother only stayed because of me but now you're free" Shu said stretching out his hand. It was in that moment that Mrs Chen lunged fiercely at the brother wrapping her hand around his neck with her eyes bloodshot. The brother in question just gave her a comforting smile and caressed her neck. The next moment her head flew off her body and landed on the floor but it became even more bizarre when her corpse still continued on to strangle the brother.
Frowning he gave her a hug effectively cutting up her body into pieces before prying off her fingers from his neck splattered in blood and splashing on the window too. The result was that people began to scream erratically and the sound of people rushing out could be heard. The brother snorted and used his finger to draw a line in the air releasing a sharp wave of dark mana making the building quiet as more blood splattered on the window during the whole restaurant a bloody red.
"Mother" Shu said whimpering as he walked to his mother's head and slumped on the floor in a daze.
"Look what she made me do. I ended up using the power accumulated from being joined with the father, just a bitch till the end ruining my plans. I should have diced her into cubes while she was alive so her screams could chorus. Ahh just thinking about it sounds delicious" the brother said with his face twisting into a maniacal grin stretching to the edge of his face.
All through this, Xu Ling couldn't move due to the mana wrapping around him like a vice. His brain was still buzzing from how the situation escalated so erratically to the death of at least 20 people.

"Now Shu be a good boy and come here," he said transforming back into that gentle older brother.
"No you killed mother. I hate you" Shu said glaring at him. He started to glow blue a bit at the end of the sentence and that's when Xu Ling realized he was becoming an awakened but he lacks a lot of light mana just enough to coat his body in it.
"Tsk get rid of that disgusting thing around you or I will" brother said with a disgusted face stepping closer to him. Xu Ling began to think frantically about what to do since they were both trapped when the system dinged.

Xu Ling frowned again at the system's timely response again but he ignored it in view of his predicament and designated Yihui and Shu as his teammates.

Xu Ling said yes in his head then struggled to speak and said
"Chen Shu I gave you the power to avenge your mother. It's up to you now"
Chen Shu's aura began to brighten and he somehow shaped it into a kitchen knife and slashed at the brother but he wasn't one to give up so he condensed the mana around the restaurant into a kitchen knife to and fought back releasing us from our prison. We immediately jumped into the fight with three of us slashing ruthlessly at him slowly chipping away his defense until he was bleeding from multiple cuts and his kitchen knife dimmed and Chen Shu stabbed into his chest.
"I hope you grow up well kiddo" the brother said ruffling Chen Shu's head giving a bloody smile before melting into a dark mana pool which turned into a gas and then flew in the air leaving behind a rust kitchen knife half broken. The mana was probably too much for a new awakened so Chen Shu passed out immediately caught by Yihui.
"Hunter Xu and Yi are you okay" Li Wei's voice came after
"Yes, we managed " Xu Ling said
"That's good. You guys went out of reach for a while but I still called the suicide squad members just in case"
"I don't see anyone " Yihui said frowning.
"They have arrived according to their trackers. Infact they are just behind you" he replied
We both walked into the restaurant to find a gruesome scene of bodies cut up with parts in disarray on the floor and walls making the whole restaurant have a bloody red glow. Obsession was passed out on a table while Kat was sitting beside a guy who was sitting on the floor under the table with his head on her shoulder passed out covered in blood.
"What happened to obsession" Xu Ling asks checking her pulse relieved that she was alive.
"The dark mana was too dense and the death of all this people agitated it so she overloaded then I knocked her out because she was well crazier" kat said eyes glued to a phone.
"Are you okay " he asked turning to her.
"Who do you think I am. Focus on your girlfriend before I pluck her eyes out for looking at me" she said pouting at the phone. He felt Yihui stiffen beside him and chuckled not even turning back.
"What are you even doing" Yihui said after clearing her throat.
"Trying to unlock his phone" she said placing it in the pocket of the guy beside her and that's when Xu Ling realized that his chest was moving meaning he was probably alive.
"You saved him, why" Xu Ling asked standing infront of her checking the pulse of the guy who was okay with no injuries.
"We're friends" she said after muttering something then slung him on her shoulder and walked through the door. Xu Ling looked at her surprised and a little worried, it must have been awkward to meet a friend in her condition. He went to carry obsession but Yihui just dumped Chen Shu on him and slung obsession on her shoulder walking away. Xu Ling followed behind laughing teasing her to distract himself from all those bodies.

"Did you mean what you said" I asked Mao after showering at home while she tried to chop tomatoes for lunch that she was making.
"I guess we can be called friends" she said slicing the tomatoes dressed in a baggy shirt
"I guess I wanted a moment that would last in someone's mind because I was tired of not existing...that" I said watching her flinch and cut her finger. She watched her hand bleed quietly in a daze giving me all the answers I needed.
"Are you upset because it was for a selfish reason" she said bowing her head with her hair blocking her face.
"I'm grateful besides you didn't owe me anything so I don't care why you did it but what you did. Thank you for protecting me today too." I said standing up to push her forehead with my finger then she blinked at me before smiling widely. I was surprised because her normal happy face looks pretty in a way
"I was worried that I wouldn't have anyone to mooch off of" she said making pinch her cheek rethinking the pretty part.
"But did your excuse have to be friends. I can't be friends with my cat especially one like you" I said smiling at her dodging the knife that came at me. I ended up making lunch since she was angrily killing the ingredients.
