Chapter 12 - Guild contract

Kaly and Darius were on their way back to the city, near the gates they saw several adventurers on their way to the forest, they passed by and looked at the two of them, surprised that a child and a woman should come out of the forest, even more so without weapons. Kaly hid his sword in his bag of items, as well as a staff, which mages and swordsmen usually leave out.

They continued walking and at one point Kaly carried Darius on her lap and started flying, she wanted to get to the mansion soon. No one saw her, as she used invisibility magic before flying.

At the mansion, Kaly went to the trunk, watched it, and then turned to Darius.

"Let's take a bath."

In the bath she asked him to rub her body, Darius' hands caressed Kaly's breasts, and other more intimate parts were lovingly rubbed, Kaly did the same with Darius, he was certainly the smelliest boy in the whole Kingdom, at least for Kaly he was.

After a shower, Kaly threw herself on the bed, she said he should do the same, rest is always good, especially after a whole morning of hard work.

She went to sleep, Darius wasn't that tired so he started to study a little, because in three months he would have to take an exam, the exam for the academy, he wanted to get a good mark and be in a high position, his three older brothers were first in the fencing exams, the written exam and the bow exam. He wanted to be first, even though he didn't think it would be possible, but he was content with the first ten positions.

He was reading a book and on a piece of paper he wrote down some parts, he studied for a few minutes, when Kaly woke up she watched the scene, then she held his head and sent him all the information he should know for the exam.

"I've already taken the exam and studied at the academy for a few years, not in this form, I used a child's one."

"Did you really study at that academy?"

"Yes, but it's much easier than an average school in the Empire, humans aren't as good at teaching."

"You don't like humans very much, do you?"

"That's partly true, but I don't hate them, I just think they're weak, some dragons are too, but comparing races doesn't end well."

Kaly remained silent, then went to the chest and took out all the magic she had put in it. When she opened it, the mana crystal was bigger, it went from the size of a grain of rice to that of a pen cap.

"I'm going to analyze the artifacts."

"How will you do that?"

"By testing, but it's a blind test, we don't know if it worked, or the test failed, we don't know what the artifact itself does."

They went into the garden, she was carrying the chest, it looked a bit heavy, Darius asked her to hold the mana sphere, Kaly agreed.

Darius felt the weight of the sphere, it was the size of a pen cap, but the weight was much greater than that of a small object.

In the garden Kaly used one ring at a time and tested it in various ways, the first was by causing some damage to his body, then in an attack, then using magic of various elements, then she did mana recovery tests and asked Darius to test each one, she made him deplete his mana and then try to use magic, he almost fainted, but she made sure his mana was restored.

One of them recovered some mana, Kaly went to Lucian's office and asked for the mana plate, Darius put his right hand on the plate, it was 140/470, he put the ring on his finger and the mana was increasing, 1 point of mana every 4 seconds.

"This ring is yours, it's a good way to recover your mana, even if it's slow, but every 1 minute you'll have 15 more mana points, in an emergency it saves your life."

Kaly tested the pendant and the necklace, but they didn't seem to have any function, but she noticed that it created a small force field, it was weak, but it would serve to protect against a weak attack.

When she got to the coin pouches, one of them had a few coins in it. She took out 10 gold coins, then more coins, and coins kept falling out of the pouch.

She thought of silver coins and they started to fall out, then she thought of a platinum coin, and these coins came out of the bag.

"We have a money factory, it's good to use this artifact secretly."

She was right, such an artifact would attract attention, plus it could be confiscated by the Crown and used by it in different ways.

Darius weighed the bag and imagined a 5 yen coin, golden coins came out with a hole in the middle.

"This bag generates the coin we imagine."

"Yes, that's very useful. I have a plan," she paused. "Of the artifact , only three rings had any function, one for recovering mana and two that increase fire magic, the necklace generates a force field and the pendant does nothing and of the pouches only this one had any function. I think we should hire adventurers and buy the items from them."

Kaly took the bag of coins and went with Darius to the Guild. The coins that fell out of the bag were in Kaly's item bag.

At the Guild, Kaly went up to the receptionist, Clara was her name.

"I want to hire the Guild's services."

The receptionist took out a form and handed it to Kaly.

The form had some fees to be paid, Kaly already knew about this, so she just said what she wanted. The service was simple: magical artifacts that could recover mana and protect against magical attacks. She would offer 150 gold coins per artifact that she thought would be useful, if they were average she would pay 50 gold coins.

The receptionist couldn't believe it, as 50 gold coins would be enough to support a family of four for at least a year.

"We need to keep part of the amount in case of non-compliance."

Kaly took 1,000 gold coins out of her purse and handed them to the receptionist.

"That should cover the expenses."

The receptionist scowled and began to collect the coins. Some people in the Guild stared at the coins and became curious about what the mission was.

"I'll draw up the contract," she said as she wrote down the details of the mission on a piece of paper, she wrote using a crystal pen on a plate similar to a mana plate, then a sheet of paper came out of the same machine that printed the cards, it was in fact a printer.

Six sheets of paper came out, three were the missions that had been separated by artifact, the other three were the Guild's service contract, which Kaly had to sign and hand to the receptionist. When Kaly had done this, Clara put the papers into the printer to be scanned.

"In your Guild account, the 1,000 gold coins are deposited for fees and payment. Your final balance is," she paused and picked up another card, there was the same amount. "You have more than 200,000 gold coins, 50,000 silver and 300,000 copper."

"Yes, I rarely withdrew the money from the missions I did at the Guild."

"That's a lot of money," Clara repeated several times.

"Yes, I'm an SS-rank adventurer, you'd think I'd be rich."

Some adventurers entered the Guild, but they were discouraged, Darius recognized them when they were returning to the city.

One of the adventurers went up to the receptionist.

"There haven't been any waves of monsters, we've encountered one or two groups, but nothing unusual, I'll deliver the slaughter to the butcher."

Kaly recalled that when waves appear it is common for the Guild to send adventurers to take care of the monsters and prevent damage to the city, but she had wiped them all out, so there were none left for the adventurers.

Kaly signed the papers and then left with Darius. When Clara posted the mission on the wall, all the adventurers went to see what she had hired.

The amount caught the attention of a few groups, who decided to explore a dungeon near the Capital.

An adventurer, who had never seen Kaly in the Guild, began to follow, in an alley he attacked her, but she stopped his attack with one hand, his knife was broken with her left hand.

"I'm not going to attack you, because I don't like attacking weak people, nor am I going to report you to the Guild, but if you repeat the same behavior, whether with me or someone else, being expelled from the Guild will be the last of your problems."

Criminal actions by adventurers lead to expulsion and being barred from re-registering.

The man began to run.
