Chapter 9 - Countess

At night Kaly went to Darius' room and before he was put to sleep, she took out the items she had bought, she put the chest on the bed, then she took out a pot of paint and a brush, she made some drawings and then applied mana, the drawings disappeared, with the mana the paint became invisible.

"I made magic so that the mana doesn't come out of the chest, you don't want that to happen," she said as she picked up the rings and then the coin purses, she placed each item next to each other. Then she took the pendant and put it on top of one of the bags, the cord she left in her bag of items, but after a while she took the cord and put it in the chest, but separate from the pendant.

"What will it take?"

"Very simple, I'll concentrate my mana in the chest, it will keep it here, and the objects will consume the mana, I'm simulating a dungeon, but it will take some time and it could go wrong."

"How does a dungeon work?"

"When an amount of mana accumulates in a place, two things can happen, the first is the appearance of monsters, some of which can be formed by mana. Or it can happen that a dungeon is formed, imagine it as a cave with a mana crystal at the end, this crystal manufactures more mana and with that more monsters are born and it expands, so it is necessary to destroy the crystal because large dungeons can create problems for nearby cities. From time to time the Guilds create quests for this."

"Would it be risky to simulate a dungeon in that chest?"

"If I were an amateur, yes. But I have some experience with it."

"What would that crystal be?"

"When mana accumulates it starts to create a crystal, after a while it starts to emanate mana and consume it, then it produces mana, consumes it, and produces more mana, it's a cycle. In between monsters are created to defend the crystal."

She concentrated her mana and a ball of energy was formed in her hands, she placed the ball in the chest, then she closed it and put a seal on it, the chest could not be opened by anyone other than her.

"I'm tired, would you mind if I slept next to you?"

"Not at all," he said more excitedly than he wanted to.

She put the trunk on the floor and took off her clothes, under her dress she wore only lace panties, she was. Kaly lay down on the bed and then Darius lay down, he felt uncomfortable, but he thought of this situation as normal, since he had seen her without clothes several times.

Before going to sleep, Darius reminisced about his old life, he missed it, as much as this world was what he had once wished for while watching an isekai or reading a light novel, he still missed the technology, playing a farm game for hours and then simulating being a market cashier, that last part was strange.

The next day Kaly woke him up, she was dressed. After she woke him up, she put her right hand on the trunk.

"What are you doing?"

"Time magic, it's a bit complex and I haven't mastered it yet, so I only use it on objects. I'm making the time inside the chest go faster, every 1 minute here would be 1 day inside the chest."

"Is that possible?"

"Yes, but it uses a lot of mana, so for the next 2 hours I'm defenseless. Depending on the strength of whoever attacks me."

"That's bad."

"Not so much, I don't think anyone would attack me here, but it's always bad to run out of mana, even with a large supply, spells of this kind usually leave anyone exhausted."

"How long will you keep the chest closed?"

"Well, I guess for two days, but at night I'll have to refill it with mana."

The chest seemed to glow, it was as if it gradually emitted a dim light and then went out, it was also reflecting the sunlight.

At breakfast, Amanda was sitting next to Darius, Kaly didn't seem to mind her position, but Amanda did.

"I heard Aeris did well, I'm surprised she can use magic now."

"She's incredible, she'll soon surpass the court mage."

Kaly didn't say it for the sake of saying it, she really thought so, even in class Aeris was able to use magic on the first try, even with the use of her learning technique, some people take longer to be able to use magic, even those with mage class.

"It really is amazing how quickly she was able to use magic," Amanda didn't seem very excited, she forced her reaction.

"I have a question for you, Kaly. Do you think you can win the tournament?"

"Yes, this year the competitors are weak, I didn't notice any that stood out for their strength, although some have technique, like a knight with an eye patch that I saw."

"The eye patch had a symbol of a bear on it?"

"Yes, it was a golden bear."

"He's a knight who works for Duke Armstrong, his name is Alex Sinclair, and he's the fifth-best swordsman in our Kingdom."

"He doesn't scare me or anything, I still think he's weak."

"I hope so because I advertised you. I told the other nobles yesterday that I'd got the best instructor for my son, the others said theirs was better, so we bet a few gold coins.

"Count Frostmourne has hired a baron to teach his daughter magic."

"Yes, Baron Edgar Windstrider, he's very good with magic," Amanda said, trying to undercut Kaly. "Having a nobleman teach your children is something that attracts attention and causes envy," she continued.

"Then you could be the envy of the other nobles because I have the title of Countess. I received it from the Drakonia Emperor himself."

"You're a noblewoman?" Amanda was astonished.

"Yes, I studied in Drakonia, a couple of years ago I was walking through the forest and I saved the Emperor's daughter from some kidnappers, I took her back and he rewarded me with the title and a house.

"That makes you the most important person here," said Lucian thoughtfully.

"In a way, but I don't like showing off my title."

After chatting about her title for a while, Kaly didn't let anyone know that she is actually a dragon, nor that her family is one of the five most important in the Empire, her parents are dukes and she got her title when she heroically protected the Emperor's daughter when some mercenaries tried to kidnap her. It was tough, she lost an arm and an eye, but managed to protect the Princess and had her body restored by a court mage.

After lunch Kaly and Darius rested for a while, while they rested they chatted about various subjects, such as Drakonia culture and the real history of their title.

In training, Kaly let Darius be more comfortable, as long as he used all his mana, which was important for her to grow up as quickly as possible. Because when she was 20 she would stop growing, she kept repeating this to him. Few people know the techniques to make her grow, it's taught that training makes her grow, which is true, but exhaustion makes her grow much faster.

"As far as I know the tournament goes through a few stages, how did you manage to take part, since you were always here with me?"

"Clone magic, I can create and maintain clones, we share the same consciousness, so I was able to take part."

"Can you teach me?"

"Sure, but only when you're stronger, because it consumes a lot of mana and needs a lot of concentration to maintain."

They were sitting in the garden, the sky began to darken, a violet spot appeared and Kaly became worried. She took Aeris in her arms and asked Darius to enter the mansion. As the spot appeared, sounds of thunder were heard, the sounds were louder than usual and seemed synchronized.

Lucian was calmer than Kaly had thought he would be, she realized that he had expected it.

"You did well to bring them here."

"What's going on?" Darius asked.

Kaly stared at Lucian as if asking for permission to speak; he nodded, giving her permission to speak.

"The Demon Lord has just been born."
