Chapter 15 - Spades, Clubs, Diamonds and Hearts

At the city gates, four Knights in mythril armor were entering. The Knight in front had the symbol of the suit of spades on his chest, his appearance was young and his green hair was highlighted by the color of his armor.

Behind were the Knights of diamonds, hearts, and clubs. The ass of the woman of hearts would catch any man's eye. She was given the heart suit because the King saw a heart when she was on all fours sucking the Queen, he gave her this suit after sex and she became a sword that protects Royalty.

They were heading towards the arena. In the afternoon, the sword tournament would take place.

Kaly was in the waiting room, she hated it, but at least the food was tasty.

Darius was sitting in the VIP area watching the first fight. The woman was wearing an eye patch and her blue hair caught Darius' eye. The gold armor also caught his eye, but that was to be expected from a Countess of the Serimaht Military Empire.

The woman drew her sword and defended herself against all the muscular man's attacks, the man's sword felt like a dagger in his large hands. She kept defending herself, it was as if she was making no effort. Gradually the man began to tire and the audience grew bored, after a while she stopped defending herself and attacked, his belly was cut and he fell to the ground. She was declared the winner and a team of four mages entered the arena and began to heal the man.

The second fight would be between Kaly and Count Frostmourne's eldest son. The Count was in the room and he gave a slight smile, he wanted to see Kaly humiliated in front of everyone.

"Kalynrae, instructor of House Lestor, against Drake Frostmourne, eldest son of Count Frostmourne," the narrator was instructed to name the two houses.

Lucian understood what Count Oliver wanted with that.

"Let the match begin."

Kaly drew her sword and slashed both of Drake's arms, and he fell to the ground. She approached him and bent down, he begged for mercy and begged her not to kill him, he screamed in fear. She put her right hand on him and his arms grew.

"The winner is Kalynrae," the narrator's voice was shaking.

The Count was angry and everyone in the audience was laughing at his son, even Lucian.

The King was in a more exclusive area, he observed Kaly's movements and was curious about her. He asked the leader of the assassins' guild to follow her and find out something about her.

Kaly returned to the room and sat down.

"What did you think of your opponent?"

"I consider him an amateur, he held the sword wrong, if he had held it more firmly, he might have been able to attack me, as well as having one less arm amputated."

Lucian laughed and Oliver got angry, so he left the room again.

Kaly didn't feel like watching the other fights, so she and Darius left the room and went to the Guild. There she picked up the quest papers and removed the monsters from her item bag. They acted as proof and four more quests were completed.

"Just sixteen more missions and you'll be able to take the C-rank exam."

"You guys are fast at quests," said Clara as she registered and made the payment.

Kaly and Darius left the Guild, she went into an alley and then quickly disappeared, leaving Darius alone. She appeared behind a hooded man, she was holding a dagger to his neck.

"Ask your client to hire someone stronger, or at least competent to keep an eye on me, you give me pity."

She threw the man against a wall and then cut off one of his arms.

"I took it easy, but if you keep watching me I'll kill you and your client."

She knew the client was the King, and she also knew that threatening someone in his position would be risky, but it's better to show your strength in situations like this.

She returned to Darius and explained the whole situation, he considered that she had done the right thing, then they returned to the arena and before they entered some soldiers asked her to accompany them, Darius went alone into the room and she accompanied them.

She was taken to a room all decorated and the King was there with several soldiers, including the four Knights in suits.

"You took it hard against the leader of the assassins' guild," he was careful not to mention the name; the guild likes to keep all its members anonymous.

"I consider that I took it lightly against someone who could be a threat to my student. But I agree, he was very weak and an amateur, barely able to contain his presence."

"Show respect to His Majesty the King," said the Knight at arms as he pointed his weapon at Kaly.

"I apologize for being rude, but I only spoke the truth," she said with her right hand to her chest.

The King laughed. "I've noticed that you're quite strong, I just wanted to find out more about you and invite you to join the Royal Court, you could be a Knight or a court mage.

"I humbly decline the invitation, I earn more teaching Darius than I would work as a court mage."

"I disagree that you earn more teaching him. But I pay 20 times more than you do."

"I train Darius to be an adventurer, today we made 10 gold coins and I got an order for 4,000 gold coins with metals we got from exploring a cave. The other day we made over 100 gold coins, I got 30 gold coins from teaching too. Considering that I get half of everything he and I earn, and Your Highness says you'll pay 20 times as much. That would be more than 40,000 gold coins. But that disregards what I'll still earn from other metal orders and Guild missions. I'm SS-rank and Darius will take the exam to become D-rank. The values will only increase."

"What do you mean?" The King was speechless.

"I don't work more than four hours a day either, so consider that."

"You're lying," said a man standing next to the King.

"You can take my record at the Guild and see all the missions we've done in the last few days, you can also go to the dwarf Shiva and ask about the mythril I'll sell him. You can ask, better than accusing me of lying."

"What if we make you stop being his teacher?"

"You can do that, but I would leave the country and ask Darius to accompany me and I would train at my mansion and help him become a Drakonia court mage, I think it would be more beneficial for Darius if that happened."

"You think you're too much for a simple maid," the Knight of spades said in a furious voice.

"I beg you not to be disrespectful to me."

"Or what will you do? I don't owe respect to people below me."

"A Knight saying I'm beneath him. That's a joke," she said as she pulled out a mytrhil gauntlet, it had black diamond stones. "I'm a Countess, so I'm above you. And because I'm Countess of the Drakonia Empire, I'm above even the Counts of the Kingdom."

"You're a Countess of Drakonia?" The King became nervous.

"Yes, I don't like to show off my title, but your subordinate has hurt my ego. That's why I'm challenging the four Knights together. If I lose, they can kill me or make me serve as a court mage or Knight, and I won't even charge a salary. But if I win, I want all four of them to serve Darius, only him.

"That would be suicide," said the man standing next to the King.

"I accept the terms," the King said laughing.
