Chapter 1 - Chapter One

The ancient town was veiled in the curtain of night. The desolate streets looked spooky and terrifying under the faint moonlight. The wind blew silently, as if carrying some unknown whispers.

Lisa was walking alone on this quiet street, with a sense of inexplicable uneasiness pervading her heart. She had merely intended to take a shortcut home, but unexpectedly got trapped in such a creepy atmosphere.

Weak lights seeped from the old houses on both sides. The shadows in the windows seemed to be narrating some hidden secrets. Lisa quickened her pace, when suddenly, a strange sound reached her ears, as if someone was breathing softly right behind her.

She dared not look back, and her heart was pounding more violently. All of a sudden, a black cat darted across in front of her, making her scream out.

When she finally made it to a crossroads, she found that all the streetlights had gone out. In the darkness, it seemed that a pair of eyes was spying on her. Lisa felt as if her legs were weighed down by lead and couldn't move an inch.

Just then, a gust of chilly wind blew by, and a faint voice came to her ears: "You can't escape..."

Lisa was trembling all over with fright from that eerie voice. She looked around in horror, but could see nothing. Cold sweat kept trickling down her forehead, soaking her clothes.

She took a deep breath, suppressing her fear as much as possible, and then ran desperately in one direction. The surrounding scenery was becoming more and more unfamiliar, and the ancient walls seemed to be constantly twisting and deforming.

Suddenly, Lisa tripped and fell to the ground. When she looked up, she found herself in a deserted courtyard. The courtyard was overgrown with weeds, and there was an old and dilapidated well in the middle. A pungent smell was coming from the wellhead.

She was just about to stand up when she heard a low whimpering sound coming from the well. Lisa's face instantly turned as pale as a sheet. She dared not approach the well, yet it seemed as if she was being drawn by some mysterious force.

Just as she was hesitating, a pale hand slowly stretched out from the well...

The pale hand was waving in the air. Lisa retreated in horror again and again. She wanted to turn and run away, but her legs seemed to be nailed to the ground and couldn't move.

At this moment, a figure slowly rose from the well. Long black hair covered most of its face, and only a pair of blood-red eyes could be seen. Lisa covered her mouth, trying hard not to scream out loud.

The figure slowly approached her, accompanied by a stinking smell of decay. Lisa's heart was beating rapidly, and her mind went blank.

Suddenly, the figure stopped, and the surroundings fell into a deathly silence. Just when Lisa thought this terrifying scene was about to end, a shrill scream pierced the silent night sky. The sound seemed to come from the depths of hell, making Lisa's soul tremble.

And at this time, the terrifying figure moved again, lunging towards Lisa at a faster speed...

Lisa closed her eyes in despair, waiting for the unknown horror to descend. However, the expected attack didn't come. She slowly opened her eyes and found that the figure had disappeared.

The eerie atmosphere still lingered all around. Lisa didn't dare to let her guard down. She carefully stood up, preparing to continue looking for a way out.

Just then, she heard footsteps coming from the distance. The footsteps were heavy and slow, and each step seemed to be trampling on her heart. She hid in a corner, staring intently in the direction from which the footsteps were coming.

A tall black shadow gradually emerged. Its face couldn't be seen clearly, but its huge body gave a strong sense of oppression. Lisa covered her mouth, fearing that she might make a slightest sound.

The black shadow stayed there for a moment and then turned and walked in another direction. Lisa let out a sigh of relief, but before she could recover, a hand reached out from behind her...

The hand suddenly landed on Lisa's shoulder. She was shocked all over and almost fainted. She turned her head and saw a distorted face with an expression that was neither a smile nor a frown, extremely eerie.

"Ah!" Lisa couldn't hold it in any longer and screamed out loud. But this scream seemed so insignificant in this silent night.

The owner of the face opened his mouth and let out a low growl, the sound seeming to come from the abyss. Lisa struggled with all her might to break free and then ran frantically forward.

She didn't know how long she had been running until an old and dilapidated church appeared in front of her. The doors of the church were tightly closed, but a faint glimmer of light was seeping out from inside.

Lisa seemed to have grasped a lifeline. She rushed to the door and pounded on it hard, shouting continuously, "Help! Save me!" However, there was no response from the church, only her own voice echoing in the air...

Lisa's shouts received no response, and she felt extremely desperate. Just when she was about to give up, the door of the church slowly opened, and an old smell wafted towards her.

She hesitated for a moment and then stepped into the church. It was dim and eerie inside, and the candlelight cast flickering shadows on the walls. Suddenly, the door behind her slammed shut with a "bang", which startled Lisa.

She walked forward carefully, and faintly heard the sound of chanting sutras. Lisa followed the direction of the sound and found a figure in a black robe with its back to her.

"Please, save me!" Lisa said tremblingly.

The figure slowly turned around, and Lisa saw a face covered by shadows, with its features indistinguishable.

"You shouldn't have come here." A low voice came, carrying a deep chill.

Lisa retreated in horror, only to find that her way back had been swallowed up by the darkness...

Lisa looked at the mysterious figure in the black robe in front of her in horror, her body trembling uncontrollably.

The figure in the black robe slowly raised his hand and pointed to the depths of the church, his voice low and hoarse: "There, that's your way out."

Lisa looked in the direction he pointed, only to see darkness, her heart filled with fear and hesitation. But at this moment, she had no other choice but to brace herself and walk towards that unknown darkness.

With each step she took, she could feel the temperature around her dropping, and the eerie atmosphere growing thicker. Suddenly, she heard a shrill crying sound, as if it came from a soul that had been tortured.

Lisa stopped in her tracks, wanting to turn and flee, but the figure in the black robe appeared in front of her like a ghost, blocking her way back.

"Keep going. This is your fate." The voice of the figure in the black robe echoed in the empty church.

Lisa gritted her teeth and mustered up her courage again to move forward, and what awaited her ahead would be even more terrifying unknowns...

Chapter Eight

Lisa was struggling to move forward in the darkness. The shrill crying sound lingered in her ears all the time. Her heart was beating like a drum, and each step was filled with fear.

Finally, she saw a faint glimmer of light, as if it was hope in the darkness. She quickened her pace and ran towards the light, only to find that it was a secret chamber emitting a strange glow.

The moment she stepped into the secret chamber, the door suddenly closed, and strange symbols were flashing on the surrounding walls. Lisa tried to find an exit, but found that she was trapped in this mysterious space.

At this time, the ground in the center of the secret chamber began to slowly rise up a huge stone coffin. The lid of the coffin was engraved with terrifying patterns. Lisa stared at the stone coffin in horror and involuntarily backed away.

Suddenly, the stone coffin trembled violently, as if something was about to burst out of it...

The trembling of the stone coffin became more and more intense, accompanied by a bone-chilling banging sound. Lisa covered her ears, curled up in a corner, and her body kept trembling.

Just when she thought the stone coffin was about to break, everything suddenly quieted down. The deathly silence made Lisa's heartbeat sound格外清晰.

She slowly raised her head and looked at the stone coffin, only to find that a crack had appeared on the coffin at some point, and wisps of black smoke were slowly seeping out of it.

The smoke gradually filled the entire secret chamber, and Lisa began to have difficulty breathing, and her vision became blurred. In the haze, she seemed to see distorted figures looming in the smoke.

"What on earth is going on?" Lisa despaired and murmured to herself.

At this time, a cold voice sounded in her ear: "Your fate has long been doomed..."

Lisa lost her way in the smoke. She groped blindly, trying to find a way to escape.

Suddenly, she felt a pair of cold hands grabbing her ankle and pulling it down hard. Lisa struggled desperately, shouting for help, but the only response was her own desperate echo.

The strength of those hands was enormous, and Lisa was gradually being dragged into the depths of the darkness. Just when she was almost about to give up resistance, a glimmer of light flashed in the distance.

Lisa used the last bit of her strength to break free from the grip of those hands and crawled towards the direction of the light. When she approached the light, she found that it was a narrow passage.

She didn't hesitate to enter the passage, and angry roars came from behind her. The passage was filled with a damp smell, and water droplets were falling from the walls from time to time.

Lisa didn't know where this passage led to, but she had only one thought in her mind: escape from here and survive!
