Shin had spent his entire life trying to please his mother. She had been left bedridden after the Kyuubi attack on Konoha.
The attack had also left his father, Sakumoto Jin, dead. He was an Elite Jōnin, one of the strongest in the villages at that time.
And by far the strongest civilian ninja at the village during the attack, behind the Yondaime, of course.
His mother had always had big expectations for him. Being a Chūnin herself and with his dad being an Elite Jōunin, Shin was left with a huge burden on his shoulders.
His mother was his everything, and he wanted to do his best to make sure she was happy.
"A 78%!" Shin looked down in shame.
"You are a disgrace. I have NOT raised you to be a mediocre shinobi. Your father did not sacrifice himself just for you to be average in the academy."
"I'm sorry," Shin replied, still looking down in shame.
"Sorry does not cut it! The clan heirs in your class have all gotten better grades than you. Hell, that Uzumaki brat got a better Taījustu result than you." Shin remained quiet.
"Get the HELL out of my room and don't EVER show me your face with these kinds of results." Sakumoto Izumi said with a stone-cold glare fixated on the boy.
"Yes, Mother." Shin quietly left the room, ignoring the whispers from the medical staff around him.
It had almost become a common occurrence for him to be yelled at by his mother. Many of the medical Nin weren't even bothered by it anymore.
Shin quietly left the Konoha hospital and made his way towards the Training Grounds. He took out his supplies and stretched his muscles.
Shin grabbed a practice kunai from his pocket and aimed it at the dummy in front of it.
Swish!
The kunai sloppily landed on the chest of the dummy.
Swish!
Swish!
He began throwing kunai and shuriken one after another.
Clang!
Clang!
Some hit the dummy; many flew past it. He gripped the final kunai with anger on his face.
'Why the hell am I so weak?' He asked himself.
He was the son of one of the strongest men in the entire village, yet he was simply mediocre at everything.
"Careful there, kid; you might hurt yourself." Sjin turned around and noticed a silver-haired man wearing a mask. His forehead was tied conveniently to hide one of his eyes.
Shin looked at him for a second before realizing a stinging pain on his palm. He loosened his grip on the kunai.
His blood was covering the handle of the kunai and now pooling up in his hands.
"Here, let me help you out." The man said, grabbing his hand. Shin looked at the man confused.
He made a seal with his fingers; a green light appeared on Shin's hand.
The stinging pain went along with the light, and the once bruised hands became perfectly normal.
"So what's gotten you so angry?" The man asked.
"It's nothing. I just had a bad result in my Academy exams." Shin told a half-lie.
"Oh... You're an aspiring shinobi, I see. Well, you should be careful with yourself, kid. You wouldn't want to get hurt before even doing the dangerous things." Shin nodded, and the man gave him an eye smile.
"You know, I got back from my mission just a while ago. So what do you say, how about I help you with your kunai and shuriken throws?" Kakashi said to which Shin gave a small nod.
"Not the talking type, huh? Well, I guess that's not a problem." The man said.
"By the way, I'm Kakashi. What about you?" He asked.
"Shin, Sakumoto Shin." The man's eyes slightly widened, but he gave him another smile with his eyes.
Kakashi had spent a couple of hours helping the boy train in his abilities. He even helped him create a normal clone. Something he had been failing to do since the start of the semester.
"Well, kid, that should be enough for you for today. Remember to give your body the rest it needs." Kakashi told the panting boy.
"Thank you." Shin said after getting up.
"No Problemo." Kakashi answered.
Shin returned to his home, tired yet determined. He had improved massively in a single day.
"A real shinobi is truly different." He muttered while grabbing a pack of instant noodles.
His cooking abilities were subpar at best; eating instant food was now a common occurrence for him. He had enjoyed meals from an assistant most of his life.
However, after turning twelve, his benefits ended, along with his mother refusing to pay the assistant. He had also run out of his father's savings.
Now, the only thing that helped him keep afloat was the daily allowance he would receive due to his circumstances.
Shin slowly ate the hot noodles, the day had been stressful. The half-term exams had finished. Sure he had passed, however, he wasn't even in the top 10 of his class.
Shin finished eating his noodles, throwing the cup away he prepared his bed.
He stared at the roof thoughtlessly, waiting for the sweet embrace of sleep to take over.

"Sakumoto, is this all you are worth? Are you going to lose so easily?" A deep voice caught Shin off guard.
"Tch! And I thought you were stronger than those bufoons." The man said displeased.
Shin ignored the man's words. His eyes tracked the area surrounding them.
It was a battlefield. A hellish one, countless dead bodies were scattered and many soldiers screamed for mercy.
"You Konoha bastards are all the same, all bark no bite." The man mocked.
"You couldn't even complete your mission, you're pathetic. Look around you not a single member of your platoon will be able to survive." The man said.
"You're a failure Sakumoto and now, you will die at the hands of Kumo's lightning dragon." The man said preparing himself for battle.
Shin felt his body move on his own.
"You have the damn nerve to call me a failure. My soldiers are dead alright, but they all fought for their nation. We Konoha fight for our families, our children, and our people. Scum like you fight for your gains." Shin let out those words subconsciously.
"You barbarians have no respect for life. You terrorize everyone, everywhere you go. And you are right. I might die here to you. But do not EVER forget Z, the will of fire burns, BURNS IN THE HEARTS OF EVERYONE OF MY PEOPLE. IT MAY TAKE A DECADE, A HUNDRED YEARS, BUT WE WILL NEVER GIVE UP." Shin felt anger envelope his heart.
He didn't understand what was going on. Who was Z, why was he in a battleground and why couldn't he control his body?
Unless...
It wasn't his body. Shin contemplated it, but it didn't make any sense, however, it was the only logical conclusion. At least what he could think of.
This was all probably a dream, right?
'It feels too real to be a dream though?' He was brought out of his thoughts as Z spoke up.
"You think you're such a damn hero, aren't you. That damn will of fire. I'LL MAKE SURE I EXTINGUISH IT TODAY!"
The two men lunged at each other.
'Wait wait wait..' Shin braced for the impact on his arm to arrive.
BOOM!

Huff!
Huff!
Huff!
Shin woke up with a gasp, he took deep steady breaths, one after another.
'Calm down, calm down. It was just a dream.' Shin noticed that he was back in his apartment.
He looked over to a clock and noticed the time.
"Shit! I have only Five minutes to get ready." Shin panicked as he calculated the time it would take for him to reach the academy.
Ding!
Shin made it exactly on time.
He was gasping for air, as he had ran full speed to make it to the academy.
He noticed the children around him talking about their results.
"Hey Shin, What'd you get?" Shin turned around to see a brown-haired boy.
"I got 78% Akuma," Shin told him with a small smile.
"Oh," His face fell. "That's nice. I got an 84% my mom bought me the latest Nii-U model. I'll be playing Lario all day now." Akuma told him with excitement.
Shin gave him a slight nod and turned back around to his book.
Akuma too started to talk with his friends and left Shin on his own.
Some time passed and Shin noticed that their Sensei, Iruka, was late.
'That's weird, Iruka-Sensei is never late.' He thought confused.
"Ahem! Class settle down!" Shin raised his eyebrows as he saw the man in front of the class.
He wasn't someone that he knew, nor did any of the other kids. So they all just sat down and didn't talk. Normally Iruka-Sensei would have yelled at least Ten times by now.
"Uhm- Who are you?" A girl in the back of the class asked.
"Ah yes, let me introduce yourself. I am Kizaki Lee and I will be your teacher for a few weeks." The man said surprising the kids.
"What happened to Mizuki-Sensei and Iruka-Sensei?" Another kid asked.
"Well. Mizuki-S-sensei was injured in a mission and won't be able to teach for the remainder of the year and Iruka-Sensei is sick for the time being." The man explained.
Most of the kids bought into the excuse and didn't bother the man anymore.
'Suspicious.' Many thought.
'It can't be a coincidence. Iruka-Sensei has never taken a leave, even when he had Eflu (Random ahh disease name) and not to mention, Naruto isn't here either. He may be a slacker but he's always here in the first period to ask Sakura on a date.' Shin looked at the man with suspicion.
'Well, I guess it has nothing to do with me.' Shin finally let go of the matter and continued to study the book.
"Now can anyone tell me where you left off?"

Shin returned home from the academy.
'I should eat and visit Mom. She's probably not angry anymore.' Shin thought grabbing the chicken sandwich he somehow made for himself.
"Here you are." Shin thanked the nurse and knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" A tired voice asked from inside.
"It's me, mom." Shin said.
"Come in." She told him.
Shin opened the door.
His mother was lying on his bed and breathing heavily. Her black hair was now mostly grey in colour and her eyes were dull.
"MOM! Are you okay, should I call someone?" Shin asked in a panicked voice running towards his mother.
"It's fine dear. I'm alright, I'm alright." Izumi told her son, holding his hands.
"Are you sure?" Shin asked, still worried.
"Yes, I'm sure."
Shin stood there in silence, a few minutes passed.
"I'm sorry for yesterday dear." Shin looked towards his mother.
"It's alright." Shin said quickly.
"I just want you to be like your father," Izumi said, causing Shin to look down on the ground.
Izumi noticed the angry look on her son's face and sighed.
"Do you know why I want you to be strong?" Izumi asked suddenly.
Shin looked at her confused.
"No." He gave his answer.
''Your father had many enemies Shin, and they were strong, extremely so," Izumi said.
"What does that have to do with me though?" Shin asked.
"These people would love to get their hands on Konoha's Undying Will's son." Izumi explained.
"They won't attack me in the village. I'll just stay here." He said his tone lowering.
"That is where you are incorrect." Shin raised an eyebrow.
"Shin. What I tell you today, is something that only the Hokage knows. So please keep it a secret." Izumi told him.
Shin looked at her in confusion and disbelief.
"The night the Kyuubi attacked, me and your father were with you. Jin had gone outside to protect civilians, while you were with me." Shin listened carefully.
"However, it wasn't the Kyuubi that killed your father and injured me." Izumi revealed the bombshell.
Shin stared at her with wide eyes.
"Who was it then?" He asked slowly.
"I do not know, however your father knew him." She said with a mutter.
"Why did he attack you, why did he kill Dad?" Shin asked confused as hell.
"I... do not know. Shin dear, please keep this a secret from everyone." Izumi said with a slight frown.
"I will." Shin said still trying to grasp the situation.
"Also remember this.. if you ever see the man with purple eyes run, Run no matter what." Izumi said ominously.
Shin stood there for a couple of minutes trying to understand the words his mothers had told him.
"Mom, do you know someone named Z?" Shin slowly asked.
Izumi's grasp tightened, and Shin felt immense pain in his hands.
"Who told you that name?" Izumi asked seriously.
"I saw him in a dream, he was fighting someone named Sakumoto, wait I was Sakumoto-" Shin stopped talking when he felt his mother's hand on his shoulder.
"Calm down, explain it to me slowly." Izumi told him.
___________________________
Shin lay on his bed with a frown.
He had told his mother about his dream. Z was a former Kumo shinobi.
Said to be stronger than the current Raikage. His existence in itself was a secret. Not even the civilians of Kumo knew about him.
Somehow his Father had fought him, nobody knew what happened after that but his father returned home severely injured.
Z was never heard off again and Kumo refused to speak about it. So it was likely he had died.
However, what left people confused, was how a normal Jōunin managed to defeat such a beast.
His father was a mystery as well, and this annoyed Shin to no end.
He didn't know just what the hell was going on, but he was going to make sure he got strong enough to deal with it.
Shin would make sure that he wouldn't die.
[The Next Day]
Shin woke up, and the events from last night were still fresh in his brain.
He would need time to get his mind to accept such facts. However, right now, he would need to go to the academy.
_______________________
Shin made his way to the hospital. The day at the academy had been boring.
Their new sensei taught them a new jutsu. However, it wasn't really useful. All it did was conceal their shadows.
It did annoy the Nara for some reason. He had trained a bit after the academy, so by now, it was dark outside.
"Hello, Shin." He was greeted by a Medic-Nin.
His face was known by everyone in the hospital. He had been visiting for over Seven years straight after all.
Shin gave him a nod and slowly made his way to the hospital.
Huff!
His mind went into thought about yesterday.
'The man with purple eyes, who is he?' Shin thought slowly making his way towards the room.
Click!
Shin stopped suddenly, and the light in the hospital went out.
"Weird?" Shin muttered, now unable to see the room he needed to enter, he used the walls to support him.
"Why are you here?" Shin stopped when he heard a familiar voice.
His speed hastened as he opened one of the doors.
"What did I ever do to you?" The scream went further away.
Shin moved back and stumbled onto another room.
"I do not need to give you answers." A deep unfamiliar voice echoed through the hallways.
Shin felt his heart skip.
He rushed to multiple doors, and one after another, he opened them.
Yet all of those were empty from what he could barely see.
Shin's breaths quickened, and he rushed through what he thought was the final room.
"ARGHH!" His heart stopped, and he heard the scream from behind him.
He quickly turned back and ran towards the door.
Click!
The door opened ominously.
Shin took a deep gulp and got into the academy stance.
The door opened. Darkness enveloped the room, much more so than the other doors.
The only thing visible in the room were two glowing purple eyes, staring straight at him.
Then it all went black.
