Chapter 22 - Unexpected visitor

When Luna Zhou opened the door, Henry Lin stood there with a cold expression, scanning her up and down before walking into the house without a word.

"Hey, Henry, what are you doing back? Is there anything wrong?" Luna Zhou quickly asked.

However, Henry Lin completely ignored her, walking around the room, checking the wardrobe, under the bed, behind the curtains, not missing a single clue.

"Henry, what's going on? What are you looking for?" Luna Zhou asked in confusion, her mind racing. Could Henry's unusual behavior have something to do with the message she sent him last night?

Did he still see her as his wife, and was he here to catch her in the act, to see if she was fooling around with another man?

But Luna Zhou remembered clearly that Henry had said he would be at the Xuhai Resort last night.

"Are you alone?" Henry Lin asked, furrowing his brows.

"Of course. Since you left, I've been by myself," Luna Zhou nodded, her expression slightly bitter.

"Have you been anywhere lately? Or met anyone unusual?" Henry Lin continued to question her.

"No, not really. I only went to the company, where else would I go?" Luna Zhou shook her head, but in her heart, she knew that Henry Lin was testing her.

Suddenly, Henry Lin seemed to realize something. His face tightened, and he headed toward the door as if about to leave.

"Hey, Henry, where are you going? You're rarely back; can't you stay and spend some time with me?" Luna Zhou impulsively grabbed his arm.

"Let go, I have things to do!" Henry Lin frowned, giving Luna Zhou a harsh look.

"Henry…" Luna Zhou gazed at him with despair, not expecting him to be so cold-hearted.

"I don't want to say it again!" Henry Lin's voice became more forceful.

Luna Zhou bit her lip until it bled but could only let go helplessly. "Henry, do we have to be like this?"

"We're done, understand? Think carefully about the divorce, and if you have any conditions, just let me know!" Henry Lin answered sternly, then turned and walked out of her room without looking back, leaving Luna Zhou sitting there, silently sobbing.

Suddenly, Luna Zhou's face twisted into a cruel expression.

She had guessed it. Henry Lin had rushed back because he was heading to the Xuhai Resort.

First, he came to check on her, probably out of instinct, to see if she was lying or cheating. If he had caught her red-handed, he would have had a reason to divorce her.

But once he confirmed she was innocent, he must have realized that it was Jenny who might be the problem.

Thinking of Henry Lin's concern for Jenny, Luna Zhou felt a pang of bitterness. Her resolve to separate Jenny from Henry Lin grew even stronger.

Luna Zhou took out her phone and sent Jaden a message: "My husband is going to the resort. Make sure to keep getting close to that slut Jenny during this time. Let my husband see you two being affectionate. If it works out today, I'll give you an extra 100,000!"

Meanwhile, Jaden was strolling through the resort with Jenny. The sprawling resort, with its high-end amenities, was a sight to behold, featuring everything from massages and manicures to amusement park-like attractions. Some of the scenic areas were designed to resemble world-famous landmarks, which explained why it was so difficult to get a reservation. Only the wealthy or powerful could afford a stay here.

The two walked closely, with Jenny casually linking her arm through his. They looked like a couple, enjoying the vibrant flower fields they were walking through.

While Jenny seemed to be fully immersed in the moment, Jaden couldn't help but think about when he could bring Sherry to such a beautiful place.

Just then, the sound of a new message broke his reverie. He checked his phone and immediately his expression darkened. He couldn't help but curse under his breath, frustrated with Luna Zhou for being so hasty.

"What's wrong? You look like you just saw a ghost. Bad news?" Jenny asked, glancing at him with concern, though she didn't try to peek at his phone.

"It's nothing, just a work issue," Jaden shook his head, putting his phone away nonchalantly. He couldn't let Jenny see the message from Luna Zhou.

"Do you need to deal with it?" Jenny asked.

"No, no need. We're in such a beautiful place, and I'm with such a lovely lady. Let's put work aside for now. I'll handle it later when I have time!" Jaden smiled, wrapping his arm around Jenny's shoulders in a more intimate gesture, making them appear even closer.

Luna Zhou, meanwhile, had already acted on her own judgment. She figured there was no use complaining, so she would just let the woman continue with her plan. The task would be over sooner that way, but whether it would succeed was another matter.

Jenny, with her large, beautiful eyes, glanced at Jaden but didn't reject his affectionate embrace. Instead, she leaned into him, enjoying the closeness.

"Let's go check out the view over there. It looks like we can see the mountain and the scenery below," Jaden said, guiding Jenny toward a nearby observation deck.

Based on the position of the observation deck, Jaden guessed that it would offer a good view of the resort's entrance at the foot of the mountain.

The two of them entered the observation area, where the resort had thoughtfully placed telescopes for guests to admire the natural beauty around them, which also worked well for Jaden's plan.

"Want to try the telescope? It's great for spotting wild rabbits or other animals if we're lucky," Jaden suggested.

"Really? Then I want to give it a try!" Jenny eagerly peered through the lens, pretending to look for wildlife on the distant hillside.

Jaden, standing beside her, glanced down at the mountain. The distance was too great for him to clearly see anything. The people at the foot of the mountain looked like tiny ants from here, and he couldn't even make out who they were. It was highly unlikely he'd spot Luna Zhou's husband.

"I can't see anything, only trees and rocks. Can you help me find something?" Jenny pulled Jaden aside to take a turn with the telescope.

Perfect, Jaden thought. He moved in, adjusted the telescope, and aimed it at the foot of the mountain.

As soon as he focused on the scene below, his eyes widened. He saw a car with several men and women standing around it.

He could make out their faces clearly through the lens. And to his shock, one of the women was no doubt Sherry!

How could Sherry be here? She was supposed to be on a business trip. He had spoken to her just yesterday, and his colleagues had confirmed it too!

Could it be… that Sherry had been lying to him?

Jaden stepped back from the telescope, his face a mix of confusion and dread, his mind racing.

"Did you find the wild rabbits?" Jenny's voice broke his thoughts as she turned toward him.
