Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Strategies of a Lord

If Qin Keqing resembled a floating fairy, wielding her Wind and Moon Mirror, summoning chilling frost to engulf her surroundings,

then Lin Daiyu was a human missile, her speed unparalleled as she weaved through the battlefield, unleashing Eight Extremities Fist with devastating precision.

The earth trembled under the repeated booms of her strikes. Though not as visually striking as the Inferno Towers, her attacks delivered concentrated and efficient devastation, leaving no room for doubt.

A single heavy punch was enough to send the elite beasts, known for their robust defenses, tumbling. Even the most durable among them couldn't withstand the might of her fists.

Lin Daiyu's movement was almost ghostly, each step a calculated blur, evading the gaze of onlookers. Her high-speed combat left behind trails of crushed elite monsters as proof of her lethality.

On another front, Qin Keqing stood gracefully near the Frost Curse Tower, her delicate hand extending to wield her magic. With her ice magic, vast swathes of monsters froze mid-charge, forming a glacial graveyard for those unlucky enough to face her.

As the frozen monsters succumbed, the Frost Golem Tower resurrected some as undead warriors. These frost-bound soldiers turned on their former comrades, continuing the bloody battle in silence.

Above, Lucian stood on the wooden walls, observing the battlefield. Dressed casually in modern attire, he shouted commands to his forces below.

"Peppa, finish them off!"

The armored boar squad, led by Peppa, rampaged into the fray. Each charge sent monsters hurtling through the air, though it became apparent that the elite beasts were far tougher than the regular ones.

The Elite Beasts were monstrous entities, their red hides pulsing with demonic energy, brimming with the power of thunder and void.

Spirit: 17 + 5

With their durable physiques and innate demonic traits, the elites resisted the Steel Armored Boars. Each clash left both sides wounded, though the boars had a slight edge thanks to their natural armor.

Still, without the firepower of the Defensive Towers, the boars alone could not handle the elites' relentless attacks.

Lucian sighed as he fired off shots with his Gauss Rifle, though its impact on the elite beasts was minimal. He realized the truth: a lord's primary strength lay not in their personal combat power but in their ability to manage their domain.

Heroes, units, and strategic buildings like the Inferno Towers were the cornerstones of a lord's might. Even the simplest Arrow Tower, when upgraded, could outpace most individual combatants in terms of raw damage output.

"Standard strategies wouldn't work for me," Lucian muttered, glancing at his two legendary heroes dominating the battlefield. The unique traits of his domain gave him an edge no other beginner lord could match.

With the promise of a second barracks at level five, Lucian envisioned an army of a hundred units—an unimaginable force for novice lords. For now, he focused on leveraging his heroes and the defensive towers.

"I just hope the upcoming waves don't bring anything stranger than this," he thought grimly.

For over an hour, the battle raged on. Finally, the battlefield quieted as the last monster fell, leaving behind piles of bodies and pools of blood. Yet, Lucian's reprieve was short-lived as another wave approached.

Thousands of beasts charged from the mist, their footsteps shaking the ground. The land outside the territory was a morass of red-stained soil, littered with the remains of the fallen.

Lucian drained half a bottle of water, feeling the fatigue seep into his bones. "This feels like hell," he muttered.

Soft footsteps approached. Qin Keqing, her forehead glistening with sweat, looked at Lucian. Her lips parted slightly, and her clear, beautiful eyes reflected the carnage around them.

"This truly feels like the underworld," she murmured, her voice tinged with unease.

A few days ago, Qin Keqing had stepped onto the battlefield timidly, unsure of her place. Now, after enduring the unrelenting waves of monsters, she had become a crucial part of the defense.

Despite her gentle appearance, the blood-soaked battlefield demanded strength, and she delivered with her chilling frost magic. Lucian glanced at her and nodded.

"You're doing well, Keqing," he said, giving her a reassuring smile before returning to the wooden wall to prepare for the next assault.
