Park Seoyoung sat in the backseat of the car and stared outside the window without saying a word. Her mother sat beside her daughter and looked at her. She sighed and said, "Seoyoung, I know I said this before. You need to be more extroverted. Look at other girls your age, they are already networking. I know I didn't give you that much freedom before but in the next few days, I expect you to make some new friends. There will be plenty of people whom you can meet and talk to face to face. Get to know them and their businesses." Seoyoung looked down and fidgeted with her slim and pale fingers. She didn't want to join them, she wanted to go back home.
Seoyoung looked outside once the car parked in front of a huge mansion. A middle aged man came out and greeted them, "Seoyoung, my precious daughter! I didn't know it was you! You're a beautiful lady!" Park Jong Su smiled. Seoyoung politely smiled and avoided his touch. Jong Su was her step-father. Her biological father abandoned her and her mother.
Seoyoung's mother smiled and apologized to her new husband, "I'm sorry, honey. She's still young and shy. She'll open up once she's ready." As Seoyoung's mother entered the mansion, she linked her hand with Jong Su. Seoyoung looked around the vicinity before entering the mansion.
Just then, Seoyoung saw a tall and handsome man coming down the stairs. His hair was neatly groomed, his physique was out of this world. He faced Seoyoung and greeted her. She was too shocked at his figure and her heart skipped a beat.
"Miss. Park, I'm Mark Lee. Your new bodyguard. Pleasure to meet you. From now on, I'll be protecting you."
Seoyoung couldn't see Mark's eyes since he was wearing his sunglasses. Just before she could say a word, Jong Su came out.
"Seoyoung, Mark is newly hired. He'll be your bodyguard. He surpassed all other bodyguards we interviewed. From now on, Seoyoung, if someone bullies you, Mark will be the man to protect you from danger. Thank you for your hard work, Mark. Make sure to bring my daughter to her room later on. I'll let you two talk, later." Jong Su walked up the stairs while Seoyoung looked at Mark again.
"I...I'm Park Seoyoung."
She quietly said a few words. Mark looked at her and he slowly formed a smile, "I know."
"Oh..." Seoyoung looked down and smiled. She was grateful he was wearing his sunglasses because she would not be able to stop looking at him.
"Miss. Park, would you like me to show you around the house?" Mark looked at her fragile figure, she was slightly taller than her mother. She was beautiful with long dark hair. Her quiet nature was something Mark was fond of when they first met.
As Seoyoung followed Mark, she had a tour of the house which she will be living at.
"Miss. Park, do you like flowers?"
Seoyoung was stunned to speak. Flowers, she thought.
"I... I'm not that good with flowers but I do like them. They're very pretty."
Mark smiled and showed her the garden behind the mansion. There were plenty of flowers which she didn't even know of.
"Your room will have a balcony which you can use to see the garden. Your personal belonging are here. If you need any assistance, let me know. I'll be outside if you need me." Mark smiled once more before closing the door. Seoyoung stopped him and asked, "Mark, can I call you by your name?"
Mark looked at her and nodded, "Sure."
Even though Mark had a codename, he didn't mind Seoyoung calling his real name.
That evening, Seoyoung went to eat dinner with her family for the first time in forever. Usually, she'll eat alone at her other house while the maids stood in one corner, with their heads bowed. At the dinner table, there were variety of dishes and desserts. Seoyoung had to watch out because her mother was very keen on etiquettes.
"Seoyoung." Jong Su stopped eating and asked, "Do you like your bedroom? If you don't like it, we can always switch it." Seoyoung shook her head and said, "I love it. Thank you."
Jong Su smiled and looked at his new wife, Jang Soobin.
"Your daughter is very polite and beautiful. She resembles you when we first met. I hope we can become one happy family in the future." Soobin and Jong Su held hands. Seoyoung slowly ate her food without saying another word.
That night, Seoyoung heard a knock outside her bedroom. She wore her pajamas and opened the door.
"Who is it?" She asked.
"Miss. Park." Mark stood outside her bedroom with a plastic bag.
"Mark? What are those?" She asked curiously.
"Medicines." He gave the medications to her while she was speechless.
"How did Mark know that she wasn't feeling well at dinner time?" She thought to herself.
"Miss. Park. Don't get sick. Rest up. I'll be outside if you need me." Mark closed her door then she sat on her bed and giggled.
She lied down on her bed and thought about Mark for the whole night.
"Mark..." She whispered in a loving tone. Whenever she saw him, her heart would beat faster with butterflies inside her stomach.
She wanted to know more about him but she thought to herself and shook her head instead. She didn't want to distract Mark from his job but at the same time, she couldn't stop thinking about him. This was her first time crushing on someone. A total stranger who is a bodyguard whom she knew for only a day. Even though he didn't talk too much in front of other people, but in front of her, he seemed to open up a bit more each time.
