Chereads / I'm Sorry, Seo Young / Chapter 2 - Why did you choose me?

Chapter 2 - Why did you choose me?

Seoyoung woke up when it was still early in the morning. She wore a light khaki cardigan then opened the balcony door. It was very peaceful outside. She heard birds chirping and a slight breeze made her shiver but it felt nice at the same time. She opened her drawer then took out her journal and a pen. While she looked at the blank page, she started to think about Mark. His chiseled jaw, his strong physique, and warmth. Out of nowhere, she started to sketch an outline of Mark.

All of a sudden, there was knock on the door.

"Who is it?"

"Seoyoung, it's me. Your father" Jong Su waited until she opened the door. Seoyoung placed her journal back into her drawer then fixed her hair into a bun. She opened the door then Jong Su greeted her.

"Good morning, Princess. How was your sleep?" Jong Su smiled warmly. Then placed a few shopping bags by the wall.

"I slept well. Thank you." Seoyoung replied in a polite tone.

"Seoyoung, I understand this is a new environment for you. I know you missed your old house. But from now on, you're at my house. Your mom told you about the rules in this house, right?" Jong Su asked her. She nodded.

"Then, that's good. We're going to leave after breakfast. We'll be visiting an old friend which is a few hours drive from Seoul. You'll be going with Mark and he'll be driving you. Your mom and I will leave first. Will you be alright alone?"

Seoyoung nodded, "Don't worry. I'll be fine."

After Jong Su left, he glanced at Mark then left without saying a word. Mark stood outside the room without moving an inch.

After fifteen minutes, Seoyoung opened the door and then their eyes met. She stared into his blue eyes without saying anything. Mark glanced away then wore his sunglasses.

"My apologies, Miss. Park. I didn't greet you properly." Mark bowed and apologized. Seoyoung didn't even mind because she was captured by his beauty.

"Oh... you... don't need to." Seoyoung grinned slightly.

"Miss. Park, breakfast is ready. Are you ready?" Mark asked. Seoyoung nodded and went downstairs. Mark was behind her.

There were at least eight maids lined up and all of them bowed respectfully.

"Good Morning, Miss. Park."

Seoyoung looked at them and politely smiled at them, "Thank you. Good morning to you, too."

As she walked to the table, there were plenty of dishes. One of the maid said, "Miss. Park, your father arranged it. He wanted to make sure you're getting enough nutrients. He doesn't want you to get sick." Seoyoung looked at her and replied, "I understand. Thank you."

Mark went and took out the chair for her.

"Miss. Park, please sit."

She smiled at Mark, "Thank you."

She looked around and sighed. She was eating alone, again. She ate a small portion of everything and looked up, "I'm sorry. I cannot finish the food. I apologize. But the food was good. Thank you." She turned to Mark and said, "I... I'm ready." Mark nodded and followed her outside. He carried her purse then went outside.

Seoyoung released a sigh. She didn't like the atmosphere in there. It was suffocating. She was grateful that everyone treated her well. But she felt trapped inside the house. Mark opened up the car door and made sure his hand was at the top to prevent her head from getting hurt. After Mark gave her purse, he walked to the driver seat then sat down.

As he started the engine, he asked, "Miss Park, are you feeling cold?"

"A little bit." She replied. Mark took off his blazer then passed it to her, "Wear this for now. Let me know if you feel the heat later on. Seoyoung thanked Mark for being so caring towards her. She always had a weak immune system when she was young. As a young child, she got sick on multiple occasions. She wasn't able to make new friends because she was moving from school to school. Right now, she is much better. And thankfully, she graduated from university a few months ago.

As for job, she wasn't able to find a right one. Her personality wasn't a fit for most jobs on the market. Many companies wanted to hire people with people skills and with leadership skills. She lacked those skills. During her high school reunion a few weeks back, many of her classmates were successful doctors, lawyers, business leaders, and engineers. While she was being made fun of by many of her classmates as a freeloader.

She sighed as she took out her phone. After texting a few of her close friend, she turned her phone off. As she looked outside, she started to think about her future. Suddenly, the car braked and Seoyoung nearly flew out of her seat.

"My apologies, Miss. Park. I had to brake because of the car in front us also braked in a hurry. Were you hurt?" She shook her head and replied, "No, I'm fine."

"We still have two hours. Do you want to have a short break? There's a coffee shop ahead." Mark asked Seoyoung because she looked a bit upset before.

"No, that's fine. Thank you for asking. You can grab some coffee if you need it." Seoyoung replied while her looked downward.

Mark looked at her without saying anything. He looked at her from the rear view mirror and kept on driving. After a while, he asked, "Miss. Park, what do you usually like to eat?"

"Sweets and non-spicy dishes." She replied, "And you?"

"I like sweets, too. I love eating hot pot. But, the spicy kind." He replied.

"I never knew you liked spicy food." Seo Young slightly smiled.

"Mark?" She said his name with a sweet tone.

"Why did you choose to be my bodyguard?"

Mark was silent for a few minutes. He replied after a few minutes, "Your father wanted me to." Mark didn't want his feelings to get hurt thus he answered that away.

Seoyoung looked disappointed but then, she sat back. She understood it was because of her father.
