Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Fooling the Heavenly Principles

Guizhong held the item in her hands before asking the three, "I won't remember any of this when I walk out right?"

Zhou shook his head, "Unfortunately you won't. It'll be as none of this ever happened. You'll carry on as if you never met us. Of course you will know we exist, otherwise it would be too suspicious and you'd figure it out pretty quickly."

The God of Dust turned her head around and walked out with gratitude only to catch a glimpse of a swirling grey fog. "Morax must be getting lonely huh?" Guizhong didn't notice that the item she carried had long become a bracelet that carried the aura of a miracle invoker.

The three of them continued to pass by the days and sooner or later became one of the richest earliest companies that'd go down in history. Of course, the three never missed out on making fun of Huang Tao (Roselle) for relying on Bernadette to live like a human. The battle of gods to decide the seven rulers of the world was beginning to reach the end point.

The fate of Guizhong was about to reach it's inevitable end. However, the three of them were well aware that there could only be one god remaining to ascend. If Guizhong or any other god remained in the vicinity, the war would continue till only one remained.

Guizhong needed to die, or at least, God of Dust Haagentus needed to die.

Morax had left to conquer the rest of the remaining gods in the area. Truly he was worthy of the title of the strongest. However, Morax was not too good with calculating outcomes and results.

The few gods left took advantage of the fact that Morax was away and left only the weak God of Dust, Yaksha and the Adepti.

The group desperately fought to protect their home and hold out long enough for Morax to come back in time.

In that moment a single mishap and the God of Dust Haagentus perished leaving her final words for Morax.

At least, to everyone else that's what happened. In reality, the one time revival item allowed her to survive the fatal blow. In that instant, her fate was stolen. Her identity as Haagentus the God of Dust was stolen.

An error was made with the authority of change, two separate identities that could be made as distinct. Guizhong, the mortal identity that roamed the world, and Haagentus the God of Dust. With her identity of Haagentus stolen, and her death made reality, it satisfied all conditions to end the war.

Guizhong survived at the cost of losing everything that made her the God of Dust. That unfortunately also included every memory related to it.

As far as she was aware, she woke up with searing pain in her chest and no memory of who she was other than her name, Guizhong, the plains she lived in and a faint memory of the grey fog.

As far as people were aware, they could no longer associate Guizhong with the God of Dust. She was simply a normal pretty girl named Guizhong that happened to have a longer lifespan.

Caelus watched in approval of his handy work as he gloated at the island in the sky. Childish thoughts ran through his head as he compared the puny island to the castle above the grey fog reigning over the spirit world.

He soon gazed at the little kettle he held in his hand and the small circle heating element.

Perhaps it was a little bit of influence from reading about the Celestial Worthy being a dickhead to the outer gods. But, Caelus finally understood that it was pretty amusing. He sealed the God of Rain into the kettle and sealed the God of Volcanoes in the heating element.

Providing him with clean water and anytime he needed some hot water for tea, all he had to do was prod the two items together and watch them work. Amanises simply snorted at the two items while muttering "Childish"

"I want one too," was left unsaid but her eyes never left those two objects.

Guizhong's memory was vague, everything that felt important was obscured by a grey fog. However a few memories were left intact, a memory of a small shop with the name "Divination Commission." The plains she lived in, all remained intact, however something was clearly missing and she had no way of getting it back.

With the name of the shop in mind, she set out one step at a time for answers.

Morax had become a pure emotionless rock for a period. Arrodes would sneak peeks for the trio. Of course, it felt good to have a professional glazer.

"Great Master! It's been so long since you requested my services. What can the great Arrodes do for you today?"

Every word stroked his ego as Amanises strangled the mirror. The door to their place soon opened as Guizhong appeared. "Hello, sorry this place was the clearest place in my memory. It's just a feeling but I feel that something here is very important."

Zhou grinned "Pay up." He put his hand out in the direction of Amanises. They had bet on which place amnesiac Guizhong would appear first. Zhou had long accepted himself that he was also Klein, the penny pincher.

Guizhong watched the strange actions with a vague sense of deja vu. Amanises sighed "You can stay with us for now. We are part of the reason you are like this. Although you will get your memories back. Eventually... Just not now."

Caelus looked up "Previously you made a deal with Klein, or rather Zhou, for a one time revival item. However, that wouldn't solve the issue. I solved the issue, but that meant you'd lose certain memories."

Guizhong nodded before sensing a choice coming up.

"You can either go to sleep and wake up with all your memories and it'll only feel like a moment. Or you can experience the world and wait until that day your memories return."

Guizhong thought about it for a bit, perhaps if she was the normal Guizhong she would pick to experience the world, but that was not the current case.

"I'll go to sleep." Caelus nodded "It'd be almost torture otherwise. Spending every waking moment itching your head, trying to figure out who you are. I'll see you in a long time." The cane in his hand tapped her head as she was sealed in an alternate space.

Amanises sighed "Perhaps we should separate and do our own things?" Zhou stared at Caelus and both nodded with a shit eating grin.

With a wave of their hands, the two changed into different attire and disguises. Zhou stared at Caelus "The magician eh?" Caelus stared at Klein, "Business man?" The two chuckled as Caelus's Door uniqueness transformed from a wand into a cane and the Fool uniqueness changed into a magician's hat while the Error changed into his gloves for slight of hand.

The two shook hands.

"Business Tycoon, Dwayne Dantes."

Caelus chuckled "Wandering Magician, Merlin Houdini."

Amanises sighed "I'll join in on the fun." Her clothes changed as the star studded dress enveloped her figure, "Hecate Duskwood, a lady dealing in secrets and information." The three of them soon disappeared as the house they stayed in soon became barren as the desert with no sign of life.

Morax eventually noticed something amiss as he walked the streets in his mortal form one day. The Divination Commission had disappeared. Vanished into thin air. The three famous diviners also disappeared.

Perhaps fate would bring them together again.

It's interesting, he was having a peaceful fun time. He walked slowly as he made his way across the continent. His name had spread the more he walked. "Merlin Houdini, the famous magician who grants wishes and a famous escape artist. Able to escape and open any door or lock."

A desolate village soon appeared in his sight as his humanity ached at the poor village. Children were dying of starvation, the adults could barely feed the children leaving nothing for themselves.

His cloak bellowed in the dusty winds of the desert.

The villagers saw him, the first thing they saw was his black and yellow cloak. Then his oddly shaped hat and a strangely shaped stick that he kept in his hat next to the red feather.

They were wary of this strange newcomer, to make it this far into the desert without any signs of exhaustion, he was strong, they were weak. They could only pray that he had come in peace.

They could never expect for their lives to change forever and nor could they expect to be nearly wiped out and cursed years into the future for their transgressions.

Caelus squatted down to a girl lying down waiting to die.

"Hello child! I'm Merlin, a wandering magician who grants wishes. What's your name?"

The child could only rasp out "Rhinedottir." Caelus beamed a smile, "Well, like you've heard. I grant wishes. What would you like to wish for?"

The little girl glared at him, "We may be poor and weak, but do not mistake us for idiots. Even gods can not grant any wishes outside of their power."

Merlin nodded "But what if I told you, I'm not of this world and I'm secretly an eldritch god playing as a wandering magician because I'm bored?"

He said it with such honesty that the girl doubted it was real. Caelus sighed and sat down on the dirty ground. The villagers around looked shocked, usually they are disdained yet here is a well dressed man sitting down level to the little girl.

"It can't hurt to try right? It only costs you a few words. I'll ask again."

"What is your wish little one?"

The little girl sighed with resignation as the more she spoke the more she broke, I wish for rain and food. I wish that we could have better lives. I wish we wouldn't die and live like livestock. I wish to be healthy again."

The girl had essentially summed up the sentiments of the whole village who was now watching.

Merlin nodded as he waved his wand for flare as the desert around transformed into a green oasis a snap of his fingers and the sky began to rain. He waved his hand as crops began to grow and food appeared on tables.

Once all that was done, he turned to the little girl who's eyes were wide open. He ruffled her hair before standing up and turning around to continue his journey.

"Wait! Please I want to be healthy again."

The magician kept walking as she chased after him.

He turned around "Are you not healthy?" The girl only then realised that indeed, she had been able to run without any issues. She looked at him and asked, "But how?"

The magician tipped his hat before the dust rose and he disappeared leaving only a message among the winds.

"A magician never reveals his secrets."
