The door stood twice his height and it length reached end to end of the fairly large cave that he had become accustomed to fighting in. The patterns on the door displayed a giant slime crushing a horde of human-like beings and devouring their bodies, leaving no trace.
Jack went to push the door open, but before he could the two torches that were being supported on the walls, by two metal racks, ignited and the door slowly opened.
'I really wished I would have paid more attention when picking the Window. I know that the boss will be part of the slime family, but as long as it isn't a Slime Lord it'll be fine.'
Slime Lords were a greatly evolved version of the Blue Slimes that he had already encountered. The problem with a Slime Lord came from the fact that its resistance to magic runes is stronger than most [Silver] ranked bosses, leaving his strongest weapon to be useless.
Stealthy he walked into the dark room making sure to keep his hand firmly planted on the wall he followed it.
A loud booming sound attacked his ears and rows of torches ignited in a designated patterns before stopping at the end of the giant cave opening.
At the end of the room was a 4 meter tall purple slime.
"So I'm not getting out of here easily."
His training at the orphanage had him study the majority of boss monsters and regular monsters up to [Gold] rank. The one the teacher's had put the most emphasis on was the Slime Lord.
"I was hoping I wouldn't have to run into that purple color."
The easiest way to determine if a slime family boss is by their color, unfortunately purple is the color of a Slime Lord.
"Well you slimy bastard, let's dance."
Jack ran towards the slime at a sprint, but making sure that he did not activate his body strengthening rune and saving it for when he could kill the slime.
He summoned a fireball and flung it towards the slime using his mind. The fireball instead curved up towards the ceiling and caused a small amount of rocks to fall.
While closing the distance he contained to bombard the slime with his useless fireballs only to watch them bounce off the slime and hit the ceiling above.
The only weakness of the Slime Lord is too break the core on the inside, killing it.
He thrusted his spear into the middle of the slime and attempted to kill it in one go, but was unable to reach deep enough to touch the core. Even so he summoned another fireball and instead of throwing it at the slime he launched it at the wooden handle of the spear.
The fire burnt through the inside of a the slime for less than a second dealing little damage, but creating a small dent.
Jack summoned another spear and looked at his soul essence.
[Soul Essence - 250/500]
He tried to launch another fireball towards the opening in the slime, but it had already been re-sealed.
"Well, if some of the slime gets burned it is replaced by the rest of the body, shrinking its size. All I need to do is repeat the spear trick a few more times and then I can reach it's core."
Jack continued to launch more fireballs at the Slime Lord to impede on its movement and giving himself enough time to throw another spear at it. The spear was engulfed in flames within a second and again chipping away at the size of the Slime Lord.
[Soul Essence - 50/500]
He launched another two spears into the slime and caught them on fire. Now all he had to was stab through the slime.
Using the last 50 essence he rushed towards the slime and stabbed it directly in line with the core, but when he looked at how close the core was he found that the spear was barely a fingernail length away.
Instantly the slime dissolved the spear and pushed a part of its body into Jack, throwing him across the room. As a last ditch effort he forced himself to summon another fireball at the slime.
When he felt the ground all he could do was smirk as the heard the cave rumble and large stones hitting the ground.
Huff
Huff
Huff
The labored breathing of Jack showed the sorry state he was in, but looking across the cave to where the Slime Lord was he found that the core had been crushed by the cave in.
"The plan worked." His grin the biggest he's ever had.
[Congratulations Host, for clearing your first Window and unlocking the Auto-Farm function.]
Saying "Thanks" in a sarcastic tone he stood up while coughing and hobbled over to where the Slime Lord died.
Pushing away all the rubble he revealed a white circular rune. He recognized it as a [Bronze] ranked weapon rune. The faint shape of a sword on the top of it gave away the secrets that were within it.
Looking up he found a Window the same as the one he saw when he entered the glimpse of hell.
He sat down on a rock the same height as his knees and caught his breath.

Somewhere in an unknown place
An old man was chained to the wall by the neck and his arms where wrapped in chains that glew with a mysterious power.
"So he is the one that obtained my legacy. The road will be a long one, young lad, but you are my only hope to free me."
Although his eyes were pure white and he was clearly blind the magical hue in his eyes showed a scene of a young man picking himself up in a semi-collapsed cave, walking with a limp towards the remains of a Slime Lord.
"Please grow well, I hope to meet you soon."
With his words the glow in his eyes disappeared and he fell asleep, waiting until he could be rescued.
