Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Split Soul and the Nine-Colored Pagoda

In the chaos, ever since the appearance of the 3000 Chaos Deities and Demons, the entire vast world began to change rapidly. Many places started to see the phenomenon of Chaos spiritual energy gathering in clusters, and within some Chaos energy clouds, faint shadowy figures of spiritual treasures could be seen.

This marked the period when spiritual treasures began to be birthed on a large scale. Under the rhythms of the Great Dao, various materials gathered immense spiritual energy, condensed laws, and spontaneously formed seals, creating a variety of innate treasures and even innate supreme treasures.

From the Chaos to the later ages, spiritual treasures were generally classified into the following categories:

Chaos Spiritual Treasures— The Axe of Creation, 36-Rank Chaos Qinglian, Jade Plate.Innate Supreme Treasures— Chaos Bell, Taiji Diagram, Pangu Banner, Qiankun Cauldron.Innate Spiritual Treasures— Zhuxian Sword, Zhuxian Formation, Hetu Luoshu, Red Embroidered Ball, Mountains and Rivers National Map, Five Elemental Flags, Heavenly Book, Earthly Book, Netherworld Book, 36 Sea-Calming Pearls...Post-Heaven Supreme Treasures— Xuanhuang Linglong Pagoda.Post-Heaven Spiritual Treasures— Void Seal, Summoning Demon Banner, Hou Yi's Bow, Xing Tian's Axe...

Of course, this classification is not perfect and is roughly divided according to the attributes of the treasures. Among the Innate Spiritual Treasures, there exist supreme-grade ones, such as the Zhuxian Sword Formation, which is made up of five supreme-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures and is as powerful as an Innate Supreme Treasure. Similarly, among Post-Heaven Spiritual Treasures, there exist supreme-grade treasures, like the Void Seal, which has the ability to suppress the fate of the human race.

The distinction between Innate Supreme Treasures, Spiritual Treasures, and Post-Heaven Supreme Treasures, Spiritual Treasures, is not merely based on the power of the treasures. For example, the Xuanhuang Linglong Pagoda can rival the Taiji Diagram and other Innate Supreme Treasures, but Innate Spiritual Treasures are formed before the opening of the heavens, whereas Post-Heaven Treasures are formed after the heavens opened. Innate Spiritual Treasures can only naturally nurture themselves, while Post-Heaven Spiritual Treasures can be forged, such as the Summoning Demon Banner.

Innate Supreme Treasures and Spiritual Treasures generally have a suppressive effect on fate, whereas Post-Heaven Supreme Treasures and Spiritual Treasures have such effects only in very rare cases.

Thus, cultivators often refer to Innate Supreme Treasures and Spiritual Treasures as "Fate Treasures."

Of course, there are also treasures of immense power that rival Innate and Post-Heaven Spiritual Treasures, yet possess no spiritual intelligence. These are known as Extreme Dao Supreme Treasures, which are generally used for combat due to their lack of spiritual intelligence. These treasures cannot be refined or cultivated but exist solely as battle treasures, which can be directly used by anyone without needing to establish a master-servant bond, though they also carry the danger of "devouring the master."

Since Wang Dong formulated the Earth-shattering Plan, he first became deeply immersed in solving the problem of his own intense evolutionary instinct. He discovered that this instinct was growing stronger, almost to an uncontrollable degree, and if left unchecked, it would cause serious trouble in the future.

In the Chaos, there is no concept of years; a single glance can span millennia. After lengthy contemplation and endless calculations, Wang Dong decided to split his soul. He would leave the part of his soul with absolute reason in his main body, while the other part would reside in a clone. As for the clone's physical body, he would choose an innate spiritual root after the opening of the heavens.

In fact, Wang Dong's decision to split his soul was a reluctant one. His evolutionary instinct had grown stronger and stronger, and even the sealing technique he had learned from the Great Dao could not control it. If Wang Dong hadn't been so desperate to split his soul, he wouldn't have acted so hastily, for the soul is the origin of life. If the physical body is destroyed, it can be rebuilt, though the chance of evolving into an immortal body would diminish. However, if the soul's origin is damaged, the opportunity to reach the peak of existence would be lost forever.

Don't be surprised that later generations of people were able to transfer their souls or rebuild their bodies with great magic despite suffering soul injuries. This is because their soul's origin was not harmed, and they could repair and nourish their soul in various ways.

The soul's origin is innate and difficult to supplement. It can only transform once during the leap of life or soul elevation. Even then, the increase is minimal.

To be honest, Wang Dong chose to split his soul not only to suppress this evolutionary instinct but also because the absolute rational part of his soul would provide a better future for his supreme demonic body. This would prevent the possibility of uncontrollably losing control of his body and acting blindly.

Moreover, in order to plan more effectively in the Primordial World, Wang Dong needed an absolutely calm mind. The Primordial World is full of hidden dangers, and one wrong step could lead to disaster. Wang Dong did not believe that his identity as a Chaos Deity and Demon would allow him to act without limits.

Don't forget, even Yang Mei and Hong Jun didn't have much fame before achieving the Great Dao. Many people had never even heard of them, which shows how deep and dangerous the Primordial World is. A careless step could lead to complete annihilation.

Additionally, after the soul split, Wang Dong could better cultivate through his clone without constantly battling his intense desires. Wang Dong also speculated that Hong Jun might have created the "Three Corpses Dao Method" for this very reason.

However, Wang Dong followed the path of an immortal body and Dao laws, and had no connection with the "Three Corpses Dao Method," though it might not necessarily be worse than his chosen path.

After making up his mind, Wang Dong immediately performed a mysterious hand gesture. His hands blurred with countless layers of phantom images, making it impossible to discern the exact movements. But the overwhelming sense of profundity seemed to draw in all of one's attention, as though it contained infinite mysteries and beauty.

Soon, a series of hand seals gathered spiritual energy, and phantoms began to materialize in the void. One moment, lotus flowers appeared out of nowhere, the next, sacred mountains formed, followed by gods, demons, and giant beasts. Endless illusions emerged, accompanied by faint celestial music. It was as if every hand seal created a world, every leaf revealed the Buddha's presence.

Time passed, and above Wang Dong's head, the space was bathed in light. The endless illusions overlapped, creating a bizarre and magnificent wild world. The entire world began to spin, and the myriad illusions condensed, repeating cycles of destruction and rebirth, eventually forming a nine-colored pagoda, radiating endless sacred energy. Immortal aura surrounded it, and celestial music echoed, purging all evil, forever eternal and noble.

This was Wang Dong's supreme technique to protect his soul after deciding to split it. To prevent any unforeseen issues, he created a divine art specifically to guard his soul.

Wang Dong's luck was extraordinary, for while he was immersed in creating the divine art, the Great Dao's rhythm had not faded. As he delved into the creation, information regarding the laws of the soul from the Dao's rhythm was drawn to him. He continually comprehended these laws, and in the end, he successfully created the "Nine-Colored Pagoda" divine art.

The "Nine-Colored Pagoda" has nine layers, each displaying a different color, and it is filled with endless illusions. It can be both offensive and defensive. The most important feature is that it can protect the soul from above. However, if the soul is attacked beyond its limits, the pagoda will collapse and need to be re-formed.

Wang Dong could proudly claim that this "Nine-Colored Pagoda" was one of the most powerful techniques in the early Primordial World. Furthermore, the mysteries of the soul are extremely difficult to comprehend, let alone create a divine art to protect the soul. Wang Dong's success was undoubtedly due to a fortunate coincidence and immense fortune.

Since the "Nine-Colored Pagoda" was manifested, Wang Dong had been preparing for the soul split. Gradually, his soul began to change. The originally purple-gold soul split into two distinct parts.

The larger part, which occupied about two-thirds, was the absolute rational part, shining silver-white, while the smaller part, about one-third, belonged to the clone and was colorful.

Suddenly, the "Nine-Colored Pagoda" hovering above Wang Dong's head turned into a dazzling streak of light. "Whoosh!" It shot directly into Wang Dong's head and appeared above his soul.

The "Nine-Colored Pagoda" began to descend, casting threads of light that enveloped the entire soul. The boundary between the two soul parts became increasingly clear, and everything was ready.

Wang Dong gritted his teeth, formed the hand seal, and suddenly, a gap appeared between the two soul parts. This gap gradually grew wider, slowly splitting the two parts of the soul.

At this moment, Wang Dong was drenched in sweat, his veins bulging, and his body convulsing. The pain of splitting his soul was indescribable. Despite his preparation, the agony far exceeded his expectations, as if countless small knives were slicing his flesh inch by inch, tearing his entire being apart.

The pain surged like a tidal wave, relentless and penetrating from within. Wang Dong could only keep

encouraging himself: "I can do it," "I can do it," "I can do it"...

Fortunately, the "Nine-Colored Pagoda" finally began to take effect. The strands of light falling from it helped maintain the integrity of the two soul parts, preventing fragmentation, and gradually alleviated the pain from the splitting process, allowing Wang Dong to endure.

When in pain, time always seems to stretch endlessly. Wang Dong felt as though the dark road of suffering would never end. It became an eternal torment, beyond endurance.

A thousand years, ten thousand years. In fact, Wang Dong felt that this moment of suffering seemed longer than all the years since his arrival in the Chaos. It was a paradox, yet so real.

Finally, after an unknown period, Wang Dong, numb from the pain, had completed the soul split. A slightly larger silver-white soul infant and a slightly smaller colorful soul infant sat beneath the radiant "Nine-Colored Pagoda." At this point, Wang Dong had not yet fully regained consciousness.

After a long while, Wang Dong finally woke up. He formed a hand gesture and cast several spells to temporarily seal the colorful soul infant for nurturing, while the absolute rational soul controlled the demonic body.

Having done all this, Wang Dong decided to sleep under the Dao's rhythm to nourish the newly split soul, planning to execute his plan after the opening of the heavens.
