The fire in his belly had been simmering for too long, and now, facing Drake Vadis, the time to release it had come. After all, he couldn't vent his frustration on Benjamin Jones, and Drake Vadis, the so-called number one on the Fire Academy list, seemed like a suitable substitute.
"Compared to me?" Drake sneered, his tone dripping with disdain. "You're a freshman. Are you even worthy?"
Luke replied with equal derision, "The real question is—are you worthy?"
Drake's sneer deepened, but before he could respond, Benjamin Jones's sharp voice cut through the tension. "That's enough! This ends now."
