Amit woke up at night in his makeshift shelter.
He was in a Bear Grylls scenario.
All he can see is a beach in the front and some trees in his back. The ocean waves were soothing. The wind was perfect. It was slightly cold. But he liked it like that.
Amit slowly got up from his bed made of leaves.
The moon was bright up above.
It was so beautiful.
Amit stared at the sky. The stars were so clear.
He was reminded of his country home.
His parents came from poverty. They had to work hard and smart to be upper middle class.
His grandparents lived in the country area. It was full of farms and waterways. Canals and rivers intertwined.
"I want to eat fish."
Amit didn't know where this sudden urge came from. He just wanted to for some reason.
He brought out a coconut and smashed it onto a rock.
Well, he had removed the fibery shell beforehand. The hard shell was left only. After cracking the hard shell he brought it above his mouth and drank the water dropping down from it.
The flesh of the coconut was left there for now. He needed to find a sharp rock soon.
It would seem that there is a reason that every survival expert kept a knife with them. You need it to make anything and everything.
Hmm, he needed a bait, hook, rope, and a long stick if he wanted to fish the regular way.
But if he wanted to fish using a spear, all he needed was a long stick and a sharp stone.
'Man, this is irritating.'
He had none of these things.
'Inventory check'
He only had a short pant and t-shirt along with one underwear.
'Hmm, I doubt I can fish using these. After all, my body odor shouldn't be enough to attract fish.'
Seeing that nothing was doable on the matter. He moved on.
He simply started walking along the beach.
'I remember that there would always be debris on beaches like these. It would be great if I could find some plastic bottles. They should be present.'
Amit walked barefoot on the beach under the moonlight.
There were many things on his mind. But for the moment, he decided not to overthink.
'The ocean waves look so beautiful.'
He simply decided to walk.
'Those are some impressive rocks back there.'
After all the last time he had been to the beach, he was probably 5 years old. Yet he remembered.
It was a group trip with his parents and his older brother.
'I wonder how my death affected them.'
And he decided to change his mind. His parents and his brother were the sole reason he hadn't killed himself.
Yet it happened anyway.
'Man, fate is ironic as hell.'
Yes, it is.
'Mamit and Namit...'
He thought of his counterparts. What should he refer to them as? Himself? His brothers?
Or just random people he had a weird connection to.
'Man, I am so glad I am not in their shoes. I am glad I landed in the middle of nowhere instead of in that mess of a situation.'
He was correct. Namit was in Konoha, the center of several very dangerous people and events.
Mamit was in New York.
The one place where everything weird happened.
Well, weird things did happen in other parts of that world. He just knew much less about those places and their events.
'I hope he is in a stable version of that universe.'
That was also a concern as well, so many world ending events happen i that universe, that eventually something is bound to go wrong.
All he felt was worry.
For him...self?
It was so weird.
Mamit blurted out a theory that explained their existence that was so weird to wrap his head around.
Hmm, how to explain...
Ok, we are three dimensional beings. Our plane is also three dimensional. Even if it is more than three dimensional, we would not be able to perceive or understand what more than three dimensions would mean or imply.
However, we can infer certain characteristics.
By comparing our interactions and relationship with the two-dimensional plane.
A paper is three dimensional.
But a paper that is so thin that you can not understand or see its thickness is like a two-dimensional plane.
In a paper, a drawing is a two-dimensional object. We can design or add weird effects to make it seem like a three-dimensional object to us.
But at the end of the day, that drawing is a two-dimensional object.
Now, we can manipulate two-dimensional objects by manipulating the plane itself or adding/removing other two-dimensional objects.
We can never truly manipulate two-dimensional objects by turning into a two-dimensional creature and manipulating the object without using one of the two methods from before.
But we do have a two-dimensional form.
Shadows.
Our shadows are two-dimensional.
And we can have more than one shadow at once. The more sources of light, the more the number of shadows.
Sure they become dimmer, the more light sources you add, but they are two-dimensional. They can't manipulate or affect the two-dimensional world physically. But they do affect the presence of light.
Now, let's scale up these rules from two to three dimensions.
That paper is now the space-time fabric. Didn't you ever see videos about how gravity bends space-time fabric?
That fabric isn't really two-dimensional, it's three.
There is an infinite number of that fabric overlaying on top of each other.
So, shouldn't, for four-dimensional beings, their world be an infinite overlap of the three-dimensional world?
In their eyes, Shouldn't there be infinite parallel worlds?
They should be able to manipulate the three-dimensional world by either using the space-time fabric.
The other part isn't really guaranteed.
But the crux of the matter.
What are their shadows?
How does the three-dimensional shadow of a four-dimensional being look like?
They should be intangible, like our shadows in the paper.
Shouldn't they just be ghosts?
