Letting out a large yawn, Alchemy swiped the system panels away as she grumbled herself away.
Running her hand through her disheveled hair, she tried to grab her phone to check the time, but she remembered that it hadn't come with her to her new world.
"Why…" She moaned in a low tone.
"Why is sleeping in a bed worse than on a stone chair?"
Quietly, she got up and walked out of her hut, making sure not to wake the sleeping Sapphire.
The still-rising sun blasted the forest with its radiance, much to the dismay of Alchemy's eyes.
"Ah, Mother Goddess! Did you sleep well?" Nera asked, flying down from the hut to the roof.
"Nera? Is this what your [Minimalist] form looks like? What a cute moth~" Alchemy hummed.
Although Alchemy didn't answer the question, the answer was quite obviously NO, judging by how her Mother Goddesses hair was a mess and how she was trudging around.
Not that she cared; her dearest Mother Goddess just called her cute! She was over the moon, using all of her strength not to cheer.
'I guess I'll need to wait until I reach Tier 3 before a comfortable bed is realistic… Or maybe I could look into making one myself. Hey, system, if one of my produced units or I create something without your help, would it still be affected by automatic repairs and stuff?'
|
'Wow. You actually gave a straight answer.' Alchemy dryly chuckled to herself.
She figured as much, but she couldn't discern what the limit would've been. After all, her clothing could have only been added since they were repaired with the silk from creatures born of the system.
That aside, Alchemy finally looked at the daily system notification.
"Back up to 1000 Divine Power. I haven't been paying too much attention, but I think I'm at the threshold for leveling up [Miracle Generation]."
Skill experience was one of the many hidden "stats" in Ancients of Ascension. It wasn't an issue normally since most skills gain experience by use, but sometimes [Unique Skills] have different ways of leveling.
For example, [Miracle Generation] gained levels by consuming Divine Power. [Nature Manipulation] was also unique as it gained experience in different ways from each sub-skill.
[Communication] gave a small amount of experience points every time Alchemy talked to someone for the first time and a large amount if that person was from a new faction or of a higher danger rating.
"Have you used any Divine Power outside of what the Swarm has seen?" Nera asked, to which Alchemy shook her head.
"Then you've used exactly 2217 Divine Power to date."
"Right. Your [Analytic] stat mixed with the Verminae's pseudo hive mind makes you no worse than a top-class supercomputer.
Nera's wings began flapping like a dog's tail as she failed to hold in all her excitement.
"Such praise is unnecessary."
Chuckling at the difference in words and body language, Alchemy hit the palm of her hand with her fist as she remembered what she wanted to do that day.
"Oh, yeah, Nera. I wanted to talk to you about your battle with those wolves and monkeys."
Alchemy had held off on talking about this because she thought resting and leveling her hero up were both of higher priority.
"What's up? I'll answer any question for Mother Goddess! Even if it's my deepest, darkest secret…"
"I hope you'd d- Wait, do you have any deep dark secrets? What were you doing before I brought you here?"
"Uhm… Chillin' in an endless expanse of nothing, I think? It was only for a few seconds, a minute at most, between when my consciousness was born from the [Personality Token] and my body was created from the [Form Token.]"
"Huh, so we really do create you from scratch. No, that's beside the point. Back in the battle, you ended up cutting a wolf with a stick. I tried it after just to make sure, but the wood here doesn't have any special properties that'd allow you to do that. So how?"
"Ah, that! I did it accidentally. Are you familiar with the difference between Divine Power and Divine Energy?"
Raising a brow, Alchemy hummed.
"You mean SP? It used to be called DE, but there was an overlap with Demonic Energy, so it was changed, right? Not that it mattered since they changed Demonic Energy to DP later anyway for consistency…"
During the second half of her thought, Alchemy rolled her eyes at the devs of A.O.A changing such small, pointless things like they all collectively had OCD.
"Yup! That! Whenever you summoned me in my [Gigant] form, SP was leaving me constantly, almost as if it was coating my body like a suit of armor. I just remembered that feeling and tried applying it to the stick so it wouldn't break. I didn't expect it to increase the stick power." Nera explained, recounting her experience.
Deep in thought, Alchemy's face gained a mischievous grin.
"So if I can master the use of SP outside the system, I'd be able to do all sorts of things? Am I understanding this right, system?" She hummed, curious if the System would give her an answer.
|
"Vague, but okay." Alchemy shrugged.
Needlessly cryptic as the system was being, that told her all she needed to know. She wasn't 100% sure yet, but her guess was that skills acted as a crutch for [Prospects] who couldn't use any of the native powers.
Things just got a lot more fun!
"It's decided, Nera! Until we get some ore, you and I will beg-"
Suddenly, Alchemy's words were cut off by a horribly panicked scream echoing through her head.
{MOTHER! SISTER NERA! DANGER IS APPROACHING THE SETTLEMENT FROM BOTH SIDES!}
