Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Divine Prospect

"Urgh…" Alchemy groaned, grasping her head as a splitting pain coursed through it.

"What… Is that obnoxious voice?" She questioned, failing to open her eyes despite using all her strength.

It was like someone was holding them shut against her will as a mechanical, monotonous voice echoed throughout her mind.

Suddenly, the weight that kept her down was lifted. Alchemy jolted upward from her lying position as her eyes shot open.

Frantically, she looked around, eyes wide with surprise and breath entering and exiting her lungs at a record pace.

"A… Chair? No, a throne?" Alchemy asked herself, bewildered and utterly dumbfounded by what she saw.

She kneeled in a patch of white grass with a large throne in front of her, one that couldn't have possibly been for her petite self. Despite this, she was sure it was calling to her. With her head pounding, it was hard to ponder any complex thoughts for too long, but the throne remained clear in her mind.

"Do I need to… Sit on it?"

Alchemy was sure she was just in her room, but now she was in this unnatural forest. As far as she could see, which wasn't much, all things considered, it was completely untouched, barring the ornate piece of furniture.

"Fine then. The worst that can happen is some ancient evil tries to possess me. Normal Tuesday afternoo- Argh!"

She tried to make light of the situation, only for the disastrous headache to worsen. In fact, it was rapidly getting worse the longer she dawdled. So, without any proper clue as to what was happening, she forced herself to stand, nearly falling due to how quickly she pushed herself up.

Once up, she traipsed to the overly extravagant chair as the pain attempted to take over her entire body, eventually causing her to collapse onto the chair.

"If… It'll stop this pain… Whatever! Yes!" She shouted out, punching the 'Y' with all the force she could muster as she just barely held in her screams.

As if hearing her pleas, a sense of clarity washed over her, forcing the pain to leave her body as that same monotonous voice accompanied several pop-ups.

As the voice went quiet and the bombardment of translucent black and gold panels ceased, Alchemy sighed, slumping into the chair.

"What… The heck?"

It didn't take her long to wrap her head around what had happened to her. [Aspect of Divinity], Prospect, and Verminae were all terms she was familiar with. Add on the floating panels and disembodied voice that resonated through her head; it could only mean one thing.

'Reincarnation…' She hummed inwardly.

Either that or she had finally succumbed to the psychosis and is officially insane. Both were equally likely in her mind.

As familiar with the concept as Alchemy was, she still had difficulty processing the information suddenly thrust in front of her.

"Though… I don't see any button to view my kingdom information. Am I just supposed to say 'Status' or something?" She questioned, getting up from her seat.

"Oh… Should have expected that one, huh?" She sighed to herself as she looked at her throne.

"Restarting from zero, huh? Can this be considered smurfing?" Alchemy chuckled to herself bitterly, unsure how to feel about the sudden change being forced upon her.

That said, there wasn't too much to think about. She needed to look ahead, and a new world was before her.

"Transmigrated, reincarnated, or whatever! If I've been brought to this world, I might as well conquer it again, just like I've done countless times before! We'll see if I can't pry into the cause behind this situation once I return to my rightful place at the top."

An odd conclusion to come to for any remotely sane person, but what else could she do in this situation? No matter what angle she looked at it from, it seemed safer to play along with the system and build up her civilization.

If this were a dream, she would wake up, and none would matter. But if it were real, on that minuscule chance that this is her new reality, she wouldn't get caught doing nothing. Plus, what was the point of sulking? If this is a dream, who knows how long it'd take to awaken? She can't be bored until then, can she?

"AAH!" Alchemy squealed embarrassingly, "I thought you were done!" She cursed the monotonous voice.

She was so overwhelmed initially that she didn't even notice the system mentioning her getting her first mission.

"Ugh… At least the initial quest remains the same. That also means…" She paused, looking at her hand as she clenched and unclenched her fist.

The Ancients of Ascension were known for two things. Putting incredibly petty pranks in the new player experience and hidden features that you're expected to figure out yourself. Both of which Alchemy was dreading, assuming she was truly sent into the game.

She wasn't behind a keyboard anymore. Even if she knew the game inside out, how much of that information would be usable? She can't set up a macro to spam commands or skills faster than humanly possible anymore.

And more importantly…

"How large is an acre of land?"
