Chereads / Yaxoc's Adventure: Act 4 / Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Demon Of Souls

Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Demon Of Souls

It was 6 AM, and the city was eerily quiet as Yaxoc and Yaxocara strolled through the deserted streets.

"Man, why did you wake me up this early?" Yaxocara groaned, rubbing her eyes. Her steps dragged, and her voice was heavy with exhaustion. "I'm still half-asleep!"

"Oh, quit whining," Yaxoc retorted, striding ahead with his usual nonchalance. "We're going to train, and I didn't want to waste any time."

Yaxocara rolled her eyes. "Training at dawn? What are you, some kind of sadist?"

Yaxoc smirked but didn't respond. His sharp eyes were already scanning the surroundings, sensing something unusual about the stillness in the air.

Suddenly, they both stopped in their tracks, staring at the scene ahead—a pile of unconscious civilians scattered across the pavement like discarded dolls.

"Oh damn," Yaxocara muttered, her fatigue evaporating as adrenaline kicked in. "What happened to them?"

Yaxoc knelt by one of the bodies, studying it carefully. "It's like their souls got sucked out or something," he said, his voice tinged with unease. "Something's definitely off here."

The duo exchanged glances, their instincts telling them to stay alert.

Yaxocara scanned the area, frowning. "I don't see anything unusual."

"Keep looking, dumbass," Yaxoc snapped bluntly, his tone sharper than he intended.

Before Yaxocara could retort, a blur of motion caught their attention. A dark figure charged toward them at incredible speed.

"Move!" Yaxoc barked.

The duo dodged effortlessly, the sudden rush of wind from the attack rustling their clothes. The figure skidded to a stop and turned to face them, its movements smooth and deliberate.

"What the hell was that!?" Yaxocara exclaimed, her fists clenching as she prepared for a fight.

Yaxoc narrowed his eyes. "It's another demon," he said, his voice low and steady.

The creature stood upright, revealing its humanoid form. Its skin was a deep, dark blue, almost blending into the shadows of the city. It wore a black shirt and blue pants, and its long white hair cascaded over its shoulders. Two curved horns jutted from its head, and its glowing yellow eyes were filled with malice.

The demon's lips curled into a wicked grin. "Well, well, it seems you mortals managed to dodge my soul steal. I'm impressed."

"Who the hell are you?" Yaxoc demanded, his stance shifting into a defensive position.

The demon chuckled, its voice smooth yet menacing. "I am Gaitraxin," it said, bowing mockingly. "And I must say, it's been a while since I've met prey with reflexes like yours."

Yaxocara glared at the demon. "Did you do this?" she asked, pointing to the lifeless bodies.

Gaitraxin smirked. "Of course I did, dear. I need their souls for something... special."

"And that's what makes you powerful? Stealing souls?" Yaxocara's voice dripped with disdain.

"Precisely," Gaitraxin replied, unfazed by her tone. "Every soul I steal grants me a fraction of their life force. Once I've gathered enough, I can ascend to a whole new level of power."

"How many have you taken so far?" Yaxoc asked, his jaw tightening.

Gaitraxin's grin widened. "I've claimed 49,998 souls," she said, her tone laced with pride.

Yaxoc and Yaxocara's eyes widened in unison.

"Wait, what!?" Yaxoc exclaimed. "She's going to reach her next form with that many souls!"

"Exactly," Gaitraxin said, her yellow eyes gleaming with excitement. "Each soul gives me a 0.5x power boost. Do the math, darling. Multiply that by 49,998, and you'll understand my strength."

Yaxoc blinked and pulled a calculator from his pocket, his fingers flying over the buttons. After a moment, he looked up. "It's 24,999... But what does that mean?"

"It's my current power level," Gaitraxin explained, her voice almost condescending. "To destroy a planet, I only need a power level of 20,000. But if I reach 25,000..."

"What happens then?" Yaxocara asked, her voice steady despite the growing tension.

Gaitraxin's grin turned sinister. "At 25,000, I'll have enough power to obliterate an entire galaxy."

Yaxocara didn't flinch, but Yaxoc's face paled slightly.

"One more digit, and we're screwed," he muttered under his breath.

Gaitraxin took a step forward, her presence radiating raw, oppressive energy. "You two should feel honored," she said. "You'll be the final souls I need to achieve my ultimate form."

Yaxoc's expression hardened. He stepped forward, his usual smirk replaced by a rare look of determination. "If you want our souls," he said, cracking his knuckles, "then you're going to have to fight us for them. BRING IT!"

Yaxocara moved to stand beside him, her fatigue long forgotten. She clenched her fists, a fiery glint in her eyes. "Let's take this demon down."

Gaitraxin chuckled darkly, her body crackling with energy as she prepared to attack. "Oh, this is going to be fun."

The air around them grew heavy as the tension reached its peak. The battle was about to begin, and the fate of thousands of souls—and perhaps an entire galaxy—hung in the balance.

The battle erupted in a burst of energy as Yaxoc charged at Gaitraxin, fists clenched and determination blazing in his eyes. Yaxocara hung back, analyzing the demon's movements, waiting for her chance to strike.

Yaxoc's punch connected with Gaitraxin's face, sending her stumbling forward. Before the demon could recover, Yaxocara leapt into action, delivering a swift double kick to Gaitraxin's gut. The force of the blow sent her skidding back, but she quickly retaliated with a series of energy blasts.

"Watch out!" Yaxoc shouted, narrowly dodging the searing projectiles as they exploded behind him.

"We need a plan," Yaxoc muttered, glancing at Yaxocara.

"Yeah," Yaxocara agreed, her eyes fixed on Gaitraxin. "Who knows what kind of abilities this demon is hiding?"

Gaitraxin smirked, her sharp yellow eyes narrowing. With lightning speed, she lunged at Yaxoc, unleashing a barrage of punches. Yaxoc raised his arms, blocking the strikes one after another before countering with a swift left hook.

But Gaitraxin was faster. She caught his wrist mid-swing, her grip like iron. Leaning in, she sneered, "Slow speed. Let me guess—you've fought Sodo before, haven't you? Compared to him, I'm far superior in speed combat."

With a sudden burst of strength, she slammed Yaxoc into the ground, the impact leaving a small crater beneath him.

"You're a fool to think you can stand against me," Gaitraxin growled, standing over him. Her voice dripped with malice. "And today, your life ends."

Before she could strike again, Yaxocara charged in, her fist glowing with raw energy. She landed a devastating punch to Gaitraxin's face, sending the demon flying across the street.

"Don't you dare touch him!" Yaxocara shouted, her voice filled with fury.

Yaxoc groaned, pushing himself to his feet. "Damn, thanks, bruh," he muttered, brushing off the dust.

Without wasting another moment, Yaxoc activated his hidden power. "Angelic Essence, activate!" he yelled, his body erupting in a bright yellow aura that illuminated the battlefield.

Yaxocara raised an eyebrow. "You sure you don't need backup?"

"Nah," Yaxoc replied with a smirk, his tone dripping with mockery. "Go f*** yourself."

Yaxocara's face turned red with anger. "HAH!? Do you want me to beat you with a shovel!?"

But Yaxoc ignored her threat, his focus locked on Gaitraxin. He surged forward, his speed amplified by the Angelic Essence. Gaitraxin barely had time to react before Yaxoc's foot connected with her stomach, knocking the wind out of her.

"That all you got?" Yaxoc taunted, grabbing her by the horns and slamming her face into the ground.

Gaitraxin growled in frustration and teleported behind him, aiming a strike at his shoulder. Yaxoc reacted instantly, countering with a sharp elbow that sent her reeling.

"Ugh... He's talented," Gaitraxin muttered under her breath, stumbling from the impact.

Yaxoc didn't give her a moment to recover. He launched a relentless beatdown, his blows growing stronger with each strike. Finally, he landed a massive punch that sent Gaitraxin hurtling into the side of a building, leaving a gaping hole in the wall.

But Gaitraxin wasn't done yet. She teleported back to Yaxoc and aimed a powerful kick at his ribs. Yaxoc anticipated the attack, blocking it with his arm before grabbing her leg and slamming her into the ground like a WWE champion.

Not wasting a second, Yaxoc stomped the ground with enough force to dislodge a massive chunk of earth, sending it hurtling toward Gaitraxin. The rock collided with her, knocking her off balance. Seizing the opportunity, Yaxoc grabbed her by the face, spinning her around with dizzying speed before hurling her skyward.

"Angelic Essence: Blast Off!" Yaxoc roared, his aura intensifying as he launched himself into the air.

Gaitraxin's eyes widened as Yaxoc closed the distance, his fist glowing with celestial energy.

"EAT THIS! ANGELIC FLASH!" Yaxoc yelled, delivering a thunderous punch to her face. The impact unleashed a blinding flash of white and yellow light, sending Gaitraxin rocketing through the sky like a meteor.

Before she could regain control, Yaxoc teleported above her, delivering a brutal front kick to her stomach. The force sent her plummeting back to the ground, crashing into the rubble below.

Gaitraxin groaned, struggling to stand. Blood dripped from the corner of her mouth, and her once confident demeanor was replaced by desperation.

"Damn it..." she muttered, her voice barely audible. "He's too strong. I have to retreat."

She turned and bolted, her speed surpassing even light itself.

Yaxoc landed gracefully on the ground, watching her retreat with a mix of amusement and curiosity.

"Hm. Running away already?" he said, crossing his arms. "She said she was faster than Sodo in combat speed, but I guess her travel speed is even more ridiculous."

He shook his head, his aura fading as the Angelic Essence deactivated.

"Guess we scared her off," Yaxocara said, walking up beside him.

"Yeah," Yaxoc replied with a smirk. "But this isn't over. She'll be back... and next time, I'll make sure she doesn't get the chance to run."

The duo stood in the ruins of the battle, the city eerily quiet once more. The fight was over for now, but the war was far from won.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was 8 PM, and the forest was shrouded in a chilling silence. The wind whispered through the trees, their branches swaying like skeletal fingers. In the center of it all, Gaitraxin trudged through the underbrush, her steps heavy with frustration and anger.

"Damn those idiots…" she growled under her breath, her fists clenching. The bruises from her earlier battle with Yaxoc and Yaxocara throbbed as a painful reminder of her near-defeat. "How could they—mortals—push me this far?"

The demon's yellow eyes burned with rage, her long white hair flowing behind her like a pale flame. The sound of snapping twigs pulled her from her thoughts. She stopped, her sharp gaze darting around the forest.

From the shadows emerged a lone figure. A boy, casual in his demeanor, stepped into the moonlight with an air of indifference. It was Xavy. His brown hair gleamed faintly, and his piercing blue eyes held a mocking gleam.

"Well, well… A soul-type demon sulking in the woods, huh?" Xavy said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Not every day you see something so pathetic."

Gaitraxin spun on her heels to face him, her glare sharp enough to pierce steel.

"And who the hell are you?" she hissed.

Xavy stuffed his hands in his pockets, unfazed by her tone. "No one important. Just a wanderer passing by. But I can't help but notice how... angry you look." His smirk widened. "What, did you lose or something?"

"Ugh," Gaitraxin spat, her rage bubbling over. "I'm making a plan. I'll crush those brats—Yaxoc and Yaxocara—next time!"

"Next time?" Xavy repeated mockingly, raising an eyebrow. "Hah! Sounds to me like you're just sulking because you got your ass handed to you." He shrugged. "Honestly, I've seen crybabies worse than you, but I expected more from a demon."

The air grew cold.

"What did you just say?" Gaitraxin snarled, her yellow eyes glowing dangerously as she took a step closer. "You want to die, kid?"

Xavy's smirk didn't waver. "Die?" he scoffed, tilting his head. "What makes you think you're capable of that? You're looking at someone who isn't exactly… ordinary."

Gaitraxin's patience snapped. "Enough!" She lunged forward, her hand glowing with dark energy as she grabbed Xavy's chest. "I'll just steal your soul and—"

Her words faltered.

Nothing happened.

Her eyes widened in confusion as she looked at her hand, still pressed against his chest. There was no resistance, no pull—no soul.

"What…?" she whispered, shocked. "You... you don't have a soul?"

Xavy leaned forward, his mocking smile gone, replaced by an icy glare. His voice dropped, calm and cutting like a knife. "Memory fragments don't have souls. Whatever tricks you've got won't work on me, scrote."

Gaitraxin froze as she stared into his unyielding gray eyes. For the first time that night, a chill ran down her spine. The boy's presence—it was suffocating.

"What... What are you?" she muttered, unable to tear her gaze away.

Xavy didn't answer immediately. He simply tilted his head, his glare intensifying. "If you really want to fight me, go ahead. Take two steps forward." He pointed at the ground in front of him, his voice dark and foreboding. "But if you're smart, you'll take two steps back. That means surrender. That means running."

The forest fell deathly silent.

Gaitraxin gritted her teeth, trying to move forward, but her body wouldn't obey. Something about Xavy's gaze rooted her to the spot. A weight like an unseen force pressed against her chest. Her instincts screamed at her—Run.

Xavy took a step forward, the ground beneath him cracking ominously.

"You have five seconds," he said flatly, his tone emotionless. "Five seconds before I destroy this island myself. And this isn't a bluff."

Gaitraxin's eyes darted around. The air felt heavy, the trees seemed to groan, and the earth itself quivered beneath her feet. Her pulse raced.

This kid's serious...

Xavy began counting down. "Five…"

Gaitraxin's breathing quickened.

"Four…"

The wind howled.

"Three…"

Her knees buckled slightly.

"Two."

That was it.

Without another word, Gaitraxin turned on her heel and bolted, her speed breaking the sound barrier as she raced away from the forest and off the island. Leaves scattered into the air, the force of her escape shaking the trees.

Xavy watched her retreat, his expression neutral. Once she was gone, he sighed and stuffed his hands back into his pockets. "Tch. I didn't even have to try."

The forest returned to its quiet, but the faint pressure of Xavy's presence lingered, as if the very air remembered what had just transpired.

"Coward," Xavy muttered, turning to leave the forest. "Demons really are all bark and no bite."

With that, he disappeared into the shadows, leaving behind a forest that, for the first time, felt empty and forgotten.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Underneath a star-filled sky, Yaxoc and Yaxocara stood atop the rooftop, the wind carrying an eerie calm. The city lights glimmered below, but Yaxoc's focus remained distant, his gaze locked on the horizon.

"Yaxoc, I don't think that demon is coming back," Yaxocara said, breaking the silence. "Let's just go home—"

"Not now, Yaxocara," Yaxoc interrupted, his tone firm. "But if you want, you can go home."

Yaxocara frowned, crossing her arms. "Tch, fine!" She snapped her fingers and vanished into thin air.

The quiet didn't last.

From the shadows, a dark figure emerged, cutting through the rooftop's tranquility. It was Gaitraxin, and with a flash of malice, she lunged at Yaxoc, her claws aiming straight for his chest.

Yaxoc's eyes glinted. In a blur of motion, he countered her strike with a precise manji kick, sending her staggering back.

"Aha! Good to see you again!" Yaxoc said, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "Wanna die!?" With a powerful spin, he slammed his foot into her face, sending her skidding across the rooftop.

Gaitraxin growled, her fury boiling over. "I'll get you, Yaxoc!"

Their battle began.

The two exchanged devastating blows, each strike echoing through the heavens. Shockwaves rippled across the continents, shaking mountains and seas as they clashed with overwhelming force.

Yaxoc's movements were sharp, his attacks relentless. He finally broke the deadlock with a thunderous uppercut, launching Gaitraxin into space. In a flash, he teleported above her, grabbing her horn to spin her like a whirlwind before hurling her toward the moon.

CRASH!

Gaitraxin smashed into the moon's surface, cratering it with her impact. She groaned, wiping dust from her face. "Damn you…" she muttered, seething with rage. "I'll kill you—"

Before she could finish, Yaxoc appeared behind her. His fist connected with her face, sending her careening across the moon's barren surface.

"Focus on the fight, demon!" Yaxoc shouted.

Gaitraxin stumbled, regaining her footing, only for Yaxoc to teleport again. This time, his fist struck her skull with such ferocity that cracks spiderwebbed across it.

"SKULL CRUSHER!" Yaxoc roared, his voice echoing through the void.

"AGH!" Gaitraxin screamed, skidding back. "You little—"

Enraged, she let out a deafening yell, sending shockwaves rippling through space. The force shook the multiverse itself, bending dimensions and distorting reality.

"Whoa! What the hell!?" Yaxoc shouted, shielding his face from the onslaught. "She's shaking the multiverse!? I need to end her before she destroys it for real!"

Gaitraxin transformed.

Her horns sharpened to deadly points, her claws extended, and her aura flared with unholy power.

"Hehehe… Finally," she sneered, her voice dripping with malice. "At last, my power has multiplied by sixfold."

Yaxoc's eyes widened. "That makes her power level 149,994… enough to destroy entire galaxies."

In a flash, Gaitraxin closed the distance, her fist colliding with Yaxoc's face. The impact sent him crashing through all seven planets of the solar system in rapid succession. Before he could recover, she teleported behind him, grabbing his waist and hurling him out of the galaxy entirely.

"AGH! She's dragging me out of the solar system!?" Yaxoc yelled, his body wracked with pain.

Gaitraxin appeared above him, her fists glowing with malevolent energy.

"DIMENSIONAL CRUSH: 100%!" she screamed, her strike tearing through layers of dimensions. The blow sent Yaxoc spiraling into the depths of the Infinitverse.

As Yaxoc regained his senses, he looked around in bewilderment. "Where the hell am I?"

"Welcome to the Infinitverse," Gaitraxin said, materializing behind him. Her grin was sinister. "An endless dimension of outerverses. This is your tomb, Yaxoc."

Yaxoc didn't hesitate. He spun around, delivering a powerful kick aimed at her face, but Gaitraxin caught his leg with ease.

"Ah ah ah… You're dying with me," she said, her grin widening.

"Like hell I will!" Yaxoc roared, his body erupting in radiant golden light. "Angelic Essence!"

A luminous aura engulfed him, growing larger with each second. A halo appeared above his head, and angelic wings spread from his back.

Gaitraxin's confident smirk faltered. "That's… That's his second mastery of the Angelic Essence… He now matches the power of an Archangel…"

Yaxoc clenched his fists, his voice booming through the dimensions. "YOU WILL SUFFER!"

He charged forward, his speed blinding. His punch landed with the force to destabilize outerverses, sending Gaitraxin stumbling back.

"AGH!" Gaitraxin growled, her voice trembling. "He's faster than me… and his strength—impossible!"

In an instant, Yaxoc teleported behind her. His fist radiated with divine power.

"SAY HELLO TO MICHAEL!" he bellowed, slamming his glowing fist into her face. His speed doubled as he unleashed a relentless barrage of strikes.

"HAAAAAAAAAAA!" Yaxoc's voice thundered across the Infinitverse as his attacks propelled Gaitraxin back toward Earth.

Gaitraxin's thoughts raced. His speed is off the charts… We're heading straight back to Earth!

With one final, cataclysmic charge, Yaxoc slammed Gaitraxin into the Earth. The force shook the planet, threatening to tear it apart, but the energy quickly dissipated as Xavy's influence stabilized the destruction.

As the dust settled, Gaitraxin's form vanished into nothingness.

Heraphiel appeared, his face pale with shock as he approached Yaxoc. "Oh wow… You reached a new mastery already? That's… insane."

Yaxoc glanced at him, his aura fading. "She got what she deserved," he said simply.

Heraphiel's gaze shifted upward, noticing the stars in the sky returning to normal. "You… You caused over 450 billion stars to supernova… and then reversed the creation of a black hole?" He shook his head in disbelief. "What are you?"

Yaxoc smirked faintly, brushing past him. "Just someone who gives people a taste of their own medicine."

As he walked away, Heraphiel muttered under his breath, still awestruck. "If he can take down Gaitraxin like this… maybe he really can stop Lucius and Ogamak…"

With that, he turned and followed, the stars shining brightly once more.
