Chereads / Yaxoc's Adventure: Act 4 / Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Demon Above All

Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Demon Above All

The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. It was 5 PM when the emergency broadcast pierced the air, sending waves of panic through the city.

"ALERT: THIS IS AN EMBER ALERT. TAKE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY. AN UNKNOWN HOSTILE ENTITY HAS ARRIVED ON EARTH."

Citizens scrambled for safety, abandoning streets and markets, while fear loomed like a heavy cloud.

Yaxoc walked with his group—Yaxocara, Marcus, Moonlight, and Luna—toward the epicenter of the disturbance. Their footsteps echoed against the eerie stillness.

Luna glanced around nervously. "Something bad is happening here..." she mumbled, her voice trembling.

"Yeah," Moonlight agreed, her eyes scanning the darkening horizon. "I can feel it. Some powerful entity is here. It's not just bad—it's catastrophic."

The three fell silent when they saw it: a swirling portal of darkness, pulsating with malevolent energy.

Emerging from the void came Ogamak, his steps deliberate and confident. A smirk curled on his lips as he stepped into the world, flanked by another figure shrouded in shadows.

"Well, hello there," Ogamak greeted, his voice dripping with mockery. "How's your little clash with the other demons, hmm?"

Yaxoc didn't flinch, his gaze fixed and sharp. "What are you doing here, Ogamak?" he asked, his tone cold.

Ogamak chuckled, clearly enjoying himself. "Oh, I'm not here for pleasantries, if that's what you're wondering." He gestured toward the demon at his side. "I brought a new friend—my last and finest student. This one's... different. Above everyone you've faced so far."

"Above?" Yaxocara narrowed her eyes, her tone skeptical.

Marcus stepped forward, his fists clenched. "You mean to say this demon has every ability?"

Ogamak nodded, his sinister grin widening. "Exactly. And I'll leave you all to... figure that out." With a mocking wave, he stepped back into the portal, leaving his student behind.

The figure stepped forward, its form now visible under the dim light. The demon's body was a dark rainbow hue, shimmering with an otherworldly glow. Gems of every color were embedded in its torso, pulsating like living hearts. Its yellow eyes gleamed with malice, framed by massive horns and wings that seemed to blot out the sky.

"Eburiwan," Yaxoc whispered under his breath, taking in the demon's fearsome appearance.

"I think this demon will be harder to defeat than anyone before," Yaxocara said, her voice steady but tinged with concern. "Ogamak wasn't exaggerating. If this thing is above the others, it might even be capable of gaining infinite power."

Marcus frowned. "Infinite power? How do we fight something like that?"

"We find its weakness," Yaxoc said, his eyes narrowing as he studied the demon. "The gems. If I'm right, they're the source of its strength. We just need to remove at least one of them."

"But how do we do that?" Luna asked.

"We distract it," Yaxoc replied. "Or we pressure it until it slips."

Eburiwan's cold, mocking voice cut through their conversation. "Are you done talking? I don't have all day to wait for your foolish little plans."

Yaxoc grinned, his confidence unwavering. "Oh, don't worry, we're ready."

Yaxocara, Marcus, Luna, and Moonlight exchanged uncertain glances but nodded, trusting Yaxoc's leadership despite their reservations.

"Alright, let's do this!" Yaxoc shouted.

The battle began with Yaxoc and Moonlight activating their Angelic Essence. Their bodies glowed with radiant energy, illuminating the battlefield.

Eburiwan smirked, unphased by the display. "Impressive light show. Let's see if it helps you."

Yaxoc darted forward, aiming a powerful kick at Eburiwan's face. The demon dodged with inhuman speed, countering with a lightning-fast punch that sent Yaxoc stumbling backward.

"Damn it!" Yaxoc groaned, steadying himself.

Moonlight took her chance, her claws glowing with celestial energy as she slashed at Eburiwan's face. The demon caught her wrist mid-strike and slammed her into the ground with bone-shaking force.

Marcus saw an opening and raised his hands, chanting. "Fire Magic: Blazing Rope!"

Two fiery ropes shot toward Eburiwan, wrapping around its body. For a moment, it seemed the spell might hold, but Eburiwan sneered and tore through the ropes effortlessly, leaving Marcus stunned.

"How did it—" Marcus stammered. "It broke my ropes like they were nothing!"

Luna rushed in next, her claws aiming for the gems on Eburiwan's torso. Her strike landed, causing the demon to stumble slightly, but it remained unscathed.

"Fool," Eburiwan growled, retaliating with a vicious punch that sent Luna crashing into a nearby wall.

"Luna!" Yaxoc yelled, his eyes blazing with fury. "You're dead, Eburiwan!"

Yaxoc charged, landing two solid blows on the demon before finishing with a spinning hook kick. Eburiwan staggered forward but quickly regained its balance.

Moonlight teleported in front of Eburiwan, her hands reaching for the gems. The demon reacted instantly, delivering a brutal punch that sent her flying.

"Agh, this enemy is too strong!" Moonlight groaned as she hit the ground. "We're not even making a dent!"

"Then we need to go all out," Yaxoc declared.

"Are you insane?" Moonlight snapped. "We'll be wiped out in seconds! We need a better plan—"

Before she could finish, Eburiwan's fist connected with her and Yaxoc, sending both of them flying.

"You idiots," Eburiwan spat, his voice dripping with disdain. "Didn't I tell you? I hate waiting."

The demon raised its hand, a dark beam forming in its palm. With a deafening roar, it unleashed the energy, striking Yaxoc and Moonlight mid-air. The blast left both of them sprawled on the ground, unmoving.

"Yaxoc!" Marcus yelled, his voice filled with panic.

"He's down..." Yaxocara muttered, her hands trembling.

"That bastard!" she shouted, her voice cracking with rage. "I should've been the one to take him down!"

Luna's eyes filled with tears as she whispered, "Moonlight..."

Marcus clenched his fists, turning to face Eburiwan. "We need to think of something. Fast. Or we're all dead."

Eburiwan materialized in a flash of dark energy, its ominous presence suffocating the area. The gems embedded on its torso glowed with an unsettling light, each one pulsating with unimaginable power.

"No need to plan," it growled, its yellow eyes locking onto Yaxocara. "It's too late to escape."

Yaxocara, ever alert, spun on her heels and launched a devastating kick at Eburiwan's face. The force of her strike sent the demon stumbling backward, its expression unchanging as it straightened itself.

"Marcus, Luna! Get out of here! NOW!" Yaxocara barked, her voice trembling with a mix of fury and desperation. "I'll handle this monster myself!"

Marcus hesitated for a moment, his eyes darting between Yaxocara and Eburiwan, but Luna grabbed his arm. "She can buy us time! Let's move!"

Reluctantly, Marcus and Luna retreated into the shadows of the battlefield.

Eburiwan stood tall, its dark rainbow form glistening ominously in the fading sunlight. "How noble," it said mockingly, its deep voice carrying a sinister undertone. "You'd throw yourself away for your friends?"

Yaxocara grinned, her fists glowing with a mix of angelic gold and demonic crimson energy. "You talk too much. Time for you to see what a true savior can do!"

She roared as her aura exploded outward, a fusion of light and darkness coiling around her body. "Angelic Essence! Demonic Essence! Duality is my power, and I'll finish you!"

Eburiwan tilted its head, amused. "Duality, huh? Interesting. Let's see if you can keep up with the balance."

Without another word, Yaxocara lunged forward with blinding speed, aiming a barrage of punches at Eburiwan. The demon raised its arms, blocking each hit effortlessly before countering with a swift kick to her face. The impact sent Yaxocara stumbling back, blood dripping from the corner of her lip.

"Not bad," Eburiwan admitted. "But it's not enough."

Yaxocara wiped the blood off her face and smirked. "Oh, I'm just getting started."

She dashed forward again, this time feinting a frontal attack. At the last second, she spun around, landing a powerful blow to the back of Eburiwan's head. The demon staggered, caught off guard.

"Eat this!" Yaxocara yelled, slamming her fist into its torso with all her might. The force of the punch sent Eburiwan crashing through several trees, each one splintering on impact.

Amid the wreckage of broken trees, Eburiwan rose to its feet, brushing debris from its body. Its eyes glowed brighter as it examined its undamaged torso. "Interesting. You're stronger than I thought. But this is where your luck ends."

In a flash, Eburiwan teleported directly behind Yaxocara and unleashed a death beam. Yaxocara barely managed to dodge, diving to the side as the beam obliterated everything in its path.

"That was close!" she muttered, her breathing ragged. But before she could recover, Eburiwan appeared in front of her, delivering a devastating punch to her midsection. The impact sent Yaxocara flying through the forest, crashing into a boulder.

Coughing, she struggled to her feet. "This guy… he's on a completely different level."

Eburiwan smirked, advancing slowly. "Do you see now? No matter how strong you are, you can't defeat someone who's superior in every way. Death is your only option."

Summoning all her remaining strength, Yaxocara charged at Eburiwan one last time. She managed to land a solid punch to its face, but the demon remained unfazed. It retaliated with a powerful blow to her chest, sending her sprawling to the ground. Before she could get up, Eburiwan loomed over her and struck her with a decisive attack, knocking her unconscious.

As Yaxocara lay motionless, Eburiwan let out a sinister laugh. "Master Ogamak, I've done it. The so-called strongest saviors have fallen."

Suddenly, a calm yet commanding voice echoed through the battlefield. "Not quite, Eburiwan."

Eburiwan turned, its yellow eyes narrowing as a figure emerged from the shadows. "And who are you supposed to be?" it sneered. "A farmer come to die?"

The figure stepped into the light, revealing himself to be Bambon. His unassuming appearance belied the power radiating from him.

"Farmer?" Bambon said with a smirk. "Let me show you the strength of a real savior."

Before Eburiwan could respond, Bambon vanished. In an instant, he reappeared in front of the demon, delivering a punch to its face with such force that Eburiwan stumbled backward. Bambon didn't relent, launching a relentless barrage of punches and kicks.

"What—?!" Eburiwan growled, struggling to block the attacks. "He's... too fast!"

Bambon ended the assault with a spinning kick that sent Eburiwan crashing into the ground, creating a massive crater.

As Eburiwan climbed out of the crater, bruised and battered, it glared at Bambon. "You… you're stronger than I anticipated. But it won't be enough to defeat me."

Bambon smiled. "We'll see about that."

Letting out a thunderous roar, Bambon's aura flared to life, a brilliant yellow light engulfing him. His hair turned golden, and his eyes glowed with an intense radiance.

"Yellow hair…" Eburiwan muttered, its voice tinged with unease.

Bambon vanished again, reappearing behind Eburiwan and delivering a powerful kick to its side. The impact created shockwaves that rippled through the air, shaking the very ground beneath them.

Eburiwan roared in frustration, summoning its full power. "Enough of this!" It unleashed a flurry of death beams, each one more destructive than the last. But Bambon dodged them all with ease, his movements a blur.

"You're too slow," Bambon said, appearing in front of the demon. He struck Eburiwan with a devastating blow, sending it flying across the battlefield.

As Eburiwan struggled to its feet, Bambon began to gather energy. A massive blue sphere formed in his hands, crackling with raw power.

"Spiritual Blue Beam!" Bambon yelled, unleashing the attack. The beam hurtled toward Eburiwan, engulfing it in a blinding explosion.

When the dust settled, Eburiwan stood, barely holding itself together. The gems on its torso flickered weakly.

"You think… you've won?" it growled, summoning a green shield around itself. "The power of the gems… is mine!"

Bambon's aura shifted, taking on the appearance of a swirling galaxy. His golden transformation faded, replaced by an even more divine form. His eyes glowed brighter than ever, and the air around him crackled with energy.

Eburiwan charged at Bambon, desperate to land a hit. But Bambon dodged every attack with effortless grace. "You're finished," he said calmly.

With a final, decisive blow, Bambon shattered Eburiwan's shield and struck the gems on its torso. The gems exploded in a cascade of light, and Eburiwan let out a bloodcurdling scream before collapsing to the ground.

Bambon pulled out a radio, speaking into it with a calm demeanor. "Target neutralized. Retrieve the gems immediately."

As he disappeared into the horizon, Eburiwan lay motionless, its once-immense power reduced to nothing. The battlefield fell silent, the victory belonging to the saviors.

As the battlefield lay quiet, the dust settling from Bambon's overwhelming victory, the faint sound of footsteps echoed through the forest. A figure emerged, his posture calm yet purposeful. His eyes, a shimmering mix of gold and crimson, scanned the remnants of the fight with a quiet intensity.

"Thanks, Bambon," Xavy said, his voice carrying an air of relief. A small smile tugged at his lips, though his tone betrayed his guarded nature. "I'm glad you handled this so efficiently. Ogamak is relentless in his search for the gems, but it seems his little pawn wasn't enough."

Xavy approached Eburiwan's fallen form, his gaze falling on the glowing gems embedded in its body. Each gem radiated with immense power, their vibrant hues casting a kaleidoscope of light across the ruined battlefield.

Xavy knelt beside the motionless body of Eburiwan, his expression contemplative as he studied the artifacts. He reached out, his hand hovering just above the gems as if he were debating his next move. Finally, with a flick of his wrist, he began pulling the gems free one by one, their energy humming in response to his touch.

"These gems are dangerous," he muttered to himself. "Ogamak is desperate to collect them all, but I can't let that happen. Not while I still have my ruby."

Xavy paused, his hand tightening around the last gem. He glanced over his shoulder, as if expecting someone—or something—to interrupt him. When nothing came, he sighed and rose to his feet, the collection of gems glowing faintly in his grasp.

"Ogamak is clever," Xavy said aloud, his voice echoing slightly in the now eerily quiet forest. "He's been playing this game for far too long, sending his pawns to do his dirty work. But as much as I hate to admit it, he's getting closer. Too close."

Xavy tilted his head back, gazing at the vast sky above. The sun was beginning to set, its golden rays painting the horizon with streaks of orange and pink. Without hesitation, Xavy hurled the gems into the air, their brilliant light piercing through the twilight.

"Let all the gems rest in their hiding spots," Xavy said, his voice carrying a quiet resolve. The gems soared higher and higher before vanishing in a burst of light, each one scattering across the world to places unknown.

As the last trace of the gems disappeared, Xavy exhaled deeply, as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. "That should buy us some time," he murmured, his eyes narrowing. "But it won't stop Ogamak forever."

Suddenly, Eburiwan's body began to glow with an eerie green light. Xavy stepped back, watching with mild curiosity as the defeated being's form started to dissolve into the air. In moments, all that remained was a faint wisp of energy, which dissipated into nothingness.

"Typical," Xavy said with a smirk. "Ogamak always cleans up after his failures. Can't have anyone examining his toys too closely, can he?"

The forest fell silent once more, the only sound being the faint rustle of leaves in the wind. Xavy turned his attention to the spot where Eburiwan had vanished, his expression thoughtful.

"Ogamak is trying so hard to take everyone down," Xavy said, his tone tinged with amusement. He crossed his arms, a small chuckle escaping his lips. "It's almost funny, watching him scramble to maintain control. But he doesn't realize that the more he tightens his grip, the more the gems will slip through his fingers."

Xavy began to pace, his boots crunching softly against the forest floor. "He's underestimated the strength of the saviors, of people like Bambon. And he's underestimated me."

He stopped abruptly, his gaze hardening. "Still, I can't afford to let my guard down. My ruby... if he ever gets his hands on it, things will take a turn for the worse."

Satisfied that his task was complete, Xavy glanced around the battlefield one last time. The shattered trees, the scorched earth, and the lingering energy of the fight painted a stark picture of the chaos that had unfolded here. But now, there was a sense of calm—a fragile peace that Xavy knew wouldn't last.

"I should get going," he said to himself, his voice barely above a whisper. With a wave of his hand, a shimmering portal appeared before him, its swirling energy reflecting the colors of the gems he had just released.

Without a second thought, Xavy stepped into the portal, his form disappearing into the light. The portal closed behind him, leaving no trace of his presence.
