The stranger's pink hair peeked from beneath a deep red cloak that billowed slightly in the winter breeze.
His ensemble— a matching red tunic and green pants —made him look almost festive, as if he had stepped right out of a holiday story.
He wore an easy grin, his demeanor as lively as the crackling bonfire nearby.
"My lady," he began, bowing with an exaggerated flourish, "surely you've heard the myth of the strange being who soars through the skies and bestows gifts upon the deserving?"
He straightened with a hearty laugh directed at Amaranthe, who blinked in disbelief. "Well, I'm the same as you! Trying to match the mythical being's spirit!"
Cheska froze mid-thought, the absurdity of his statement momentarily leaving her speechless.
Santa Claus? she thought, puzzled. Is that a thing here too?
