Safe House – Outskirts of the City

The sound of distant sirens faded into the night as Aiden and his team pulled into the hidden safe house. The moment the car stopped, Jayden jumped out, dragging Amira with him. She was weak but still standing, her body was covered in bruises she received as a result of Maxwell's torture.

Bard followed closely, surveying the compound before nodding in satisfaction, "Clear."

Aiden stepped out next, his knuckles were still red from his fight with Maxwell, but he barely felt the pain. Marina climbed out last, the night's events replayed in her head like a never-ending nightmare.

As soon as the door was shut behind them, Aiden turned to Bard. "Who the hell was the sniper?"

Bard sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I don't know, but whoever it was, they saved us."

Jayden scoffed. "Yeah, well, let's hope they didn't just buy us a little more time before Maxwell comes knocking again."
