The cold wind swept through the abandoned industrial district where the fight was set to take place. Aiden's team was stationed near an old warehouse, waiting for Maxwell to walk right into their trap.
But something didn't feel right.
Marina could feel it. She stood near Aiden, she gripped her gun tighter than usual. "This could be a setup. It feels too easy," she whispered.
Aiden looked around the streets before responding, "I know. I can feel it, too."
Bard knelt by a crate, while he knelt his radio earpiece vibrated, "Amira is supposed to confirm Maxwell's location in exactly two minutes."
Jayden exhaled, then checked his gun to confirm if it was loaded. "If she doesn't, we will know she's betrayed us."
Marina didn't want to believe Amira would do that. Amira had earlier agreed to be their inside eye, but Maxwell wasn't a fool. If he had any suspicion, Amira could already be dead—or worse, play both sides.
