Maxwell was still smiling as he walked closer, crunching against the gravels on the rough mountain road. His men formed a baricade behind him, their weapons were raised, ready to open fire at anyone who would dare to escape.
The headlights from the black SUVs made the whole place look surreal.
Marina's own heart beat echoed in her ears.
Aiden stood protectively in front of her, having a firm grip on her arm.
Jayden's jaw was clenched in anger, his fingers crawling gradually toward his gun. Amira, who was ever defiant, tilted her head to one side, her eyes locked on Maxwell with hatred.
Maxwell gave a slow chuckle before he began, "Well, this is quite a reunion."
Aiden remained stoic. "You know, Max, you shouldn't be doing this."
Maxwell laughed hard, "Oh, cousin..." his voice was covered in mockery, "... I've barely even started with you."
