Marina's heart beat faster as she faced Amira on the balcony, the city lights glowed on their backs as the discussed. 

"You made your choice?" Marina repeated, as though she didn't hear it the first time it was said, "What does that mean, Amira?"

Amira exhaled slowly, her usual smugness was replaced by something far more dangerous... uncertainty.

"I want out," she said finally.

Marina narrowed her eyes in confusion. "Out of what, exactly??"

"Maxwell is a sinking ship like you said," Amira continued, "I thought he had a plan. I thought he was smart enough to win this fight. But now? He's spiraling like a hurricane. I think his desperation is making him reckless, and I'm not going down with him."
