The Wellington Mansion
It was bedtime and the mansion was clouded in silence, but Marina couldn't sleep. She sat in living room, and stared right at her phone. The text message she had received earlier repeated in her mind.
She scrolled through her contacts, her thumb hanging over Amira's name. Could she really trust someone who had been an enemy for so long?
"Marina?"
The voice startled her. She turned to see Aiden silhouetted by the faint lights.
"You should be resting," he said, walking over to her.
Marina shook her head. "But I can't. That message… it's making me restless. What if we're not doing something right? What if Maxwell is already two steps ahead of us?"
Aiden walked to her and took a seat beside her, "Maxwell walks on fear. That's how he manipulates people. Don't let him get into your head."
