The Wellington Mansion – After the Gala

The gala was supposed to end with champagne toasts and praise, but Maxwell's unexpected uncalled for appearance had made the night a great disaster, for people began to leave. As the last of the guests left the mansion in disappointment, the grand ballroom became silent, its shiny chandeliers left a mark in the room. 

Marina stood by the staircase, with her arms crossed tightly over her chest. She couldn't take off Maxwell's words from her mind.

"How long can even the mighty Wellingtons stand under pressure?" What kind of a speech was that? 

It wasn't just a public taunt—it was a threat, and Marina was smart enough to reallize it.

Aiden approached her, putting on a serious face. He loosened the bow tie around his neck, slowly like he was being too careful with it. 

"Are you all right?" he asked Marina.
