Selena gritted her teeth as she watched yet another lavish gift being paraded before the crowd. This was not going as planned.
For the past two weeks that man had been relentless! He kept sending her more and more gifts, each time doubling the price.
She had hoped that by rejecting Nicholas publicly it would stop but it didn't. He became even more clingy. So, she started auctioning off his gifts, hoping that people would see her as an ungrateful, arrogant woman—someone unsuitable for marriage.
Well, it kind of worked... To an extent. People hate her more than ever. Hah.
People whispered about her disrespectful behaviour, about how she didn't appreciate his gestures, but at the same time, they admired Nicholas for being such a patient and loving man.
