Xion stood motionless in the desolate ruins, his sharp eyes scanning the terrain. The ground rumbled violently as two colossal figures emerged from the darkness. A hulking Giant, its stone-like body glinting faintly in the moonlight, loomed with heavy, earth-shaking steps. Beside it slithered a grotesque Monster, its segmented body glistening with venom. Eight legs moved with predatory precision, its acid-dripping fangs bared in a snarl.
"Two against one," Xion murmured, raising his hand. A glowing barrier materialized beneath his feet, lifting him into the air. "I'll make this quick… or at least clean."
The Monster lunged first, its claws slicing through the air with terrifying speed. Xion leapt off the barrier, flipping backward as the claws slashed through empty space. With a flick of his wrist, he conjured a small rectangular barrier in the Monster's path. The creature collided with it, its momentum causing a loud, metallic screech as it was repelled.
The Giant seized the distraction, tearing a chunk of the ruined ground and hurling it toward Xion with an earth-shaking roar. Xion raised a hand, forming a circular shield in midair. The boulder shattered on impact, raining fragments down on the battlefield. Xion quickly followed up, creating another barrier to deflect the debris away from himself.
"Coordinated, aren't you?" Xion muttered as he analyzed their movements. He launched himself higher with another barrier and surveyed the area. The Giant roared again, this time charging forward with thunderous steps. Its massive fist swung toward Xion with enough force to crush a building. Xion created a wedge-shaped barrier just before impact. The punch hit the barrier, and energy rippled through the air as the construct diverted the attack to the side.
The Monster, undeterred, darted toward Xion's landing point. It leapt with its fangs bared, venom spraying in arcs. Xion reacted quickly, summoning a dome-shaped barrier around himself. The venom sizzled and hissed against the barrier, but it didn't penetrate.
Xion crouched inside his protective dome, his mind racing. "They're too fast together. I need to split them up."
The moment the Monster paused its assault, Xion dropped the barrier and sprinted to the side, conjuring a ramp-like construct beneath his feet to propel himself across the battlefield. The Giant lumbered after him, its massive hands tearing through ruins to clear a path.
Xion's eyes narrowed as he formed a plan. He skidded to a halt and turned to face the oncoming Giant. A glowing platform materialized beneath him, raising him to the creature's chest level. The Giant roared, swinging its enormous fist toward him. Xion leapt off the platform, leaving it in the Giant's path. The force of the punch shattered the barrier, sending shards of energy flying, but the Giant recoiled from the backlash.
While the Giant was distracted, Xion turned his attention to the Monster. It was slinking toward him from the side, its movements low and predatory. Xion extended his hand, summoning a web of barriers around its legs. The glowing constructs tightened, slicing into the creature's flesh. It shrieked and writhed, acid blood spilling onto the ground.
But the Monster was relentless. With a violent twist, it broke free of the barriers, losing two of its legs in the process. It lunged at Xion again, but he anticipated the move. A spear-like barrier shot forward, impaling the creature through its torso and pinning it to the ground. The Monster thrashed wildly, spraying acid in every direction. Xion dodged the droplets by leaping onto a nearby platform.
The Giant, enraged by the Monster's plight, charged again. Its colossal hand reached out to grab Xion. He jumped back, creating a vertical barrier that sliced through the Giant's fingers. The creature roared in pain, clutching its mutilated hand. Xion didn't give it a chance to recover. He formed a series of ascending platforms and raced upward, gaining height over the Giant.
From his elevated position, Xion summoned a massive circular barrier above the Giant's head. With a sharp motion, he brought it crashing down. The barrier slammed into the Giant's skull, cracking its stony surface and forcing it to its knees.
Xion landed on the Giant's shoulder, conjuring a blade-like barrier in his hand. With precise movements, he drove it into the creature's neck, severing tendons and cracking the stone-like skin. The Giant tried to swat him away, but its movements were slow and clumsy. Xion jumped to another platform as the Giant collapsed to the ground, its body trembling before finally going still.
Breathing heavily, Xion turned back to the Monster. It was still pinned, its thrashing now weaker. He extended his hand, conjuring a crushing barrier around its entire body. The glowing construct compressed, squeezing until the creature's body was reduced to a lifeless heap.
As the battlefield fell silent, Xion let the barriers dissolve into shimmering dust. He stood amidst the wreckage, his shoulders rising and falling with each breath.
