Ascar's curiosity got the better of him as he explored the old abandoned house. He had been searching for answers, but so far, he had found nothing but dust and cobwebs. That was until he reached the master bedroom.
As he stood in front of the door, the strange feeling he had been experiencing grew stronger. It was like a buzzing in his veins, a vibration that seemed to be calling to him. Ascar's heart was racing as he slowly turned the handle and pushed the door open.
The room was dimly lit, but Ascar's eyes were immediately drawn to a glowing amulet that lay on a nearby dresser. It was pulsing with a soft, blue light, and Ascar felt an inexplicable pull towards it. Without thinking, he reached out and grabbed the amulet.
As soon as he did, the room was filled with a blinding light. Ascar felt himself being lifted off the ground, and he was surrounded by a strange, tingling sensation. He tried to cry out, but his voice was lost in the void.
When the light finally faded, Ascar found himself standing in the middle of a bustling city. He was surrounded by people dressed in strange, medieval clothing, and the air was filled with the sound of horse hooves and merchants calling out their wares.
Ascar's head was spinning as he tried to take it all in. He had no idea where he was or how he had gotten there. He looked around, hoping to find someone who could help him, but everyone seemed to be in a hurry.
Just as Ascar was starting to feel overwhelmed, a gentle voice called out to him. "Hey there, young traveller! Do you need a ride?"
Ascar turned to see an old man sitting in a carriage, a kind smile on his face. Ascar hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But the old man's warm demeanor put him at ease, and he climbed aboard.
"My name is Thorne," the old man said, as he urged the horses forward. "And you are...?"
Ascar hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "I'm... a traveller," he said finally.
Thorne nodded, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "A traveller, eh? Well, you've certainly come to the right place. This city is called Brindlemark, and it's a hub of commerce and magic."
Ascar's eyes widened as he listened to Thorne's words. Magic? What was he talking about?
But before he could ask any questions, a group of shadowy figures emerged from the crowd. They were dressed in black hoods and white face masks, and they looked like they meant business.
Thorne's eyes narrowed as he saw the group approaching. "Ah, trouble," he muttered. "Hold on, traveller. We're in for a bumpy ride."
The group of figures charged towards the carriage, their faces twisted with malice. Thorne stood up, his eyes flashing with anger, and began to fight them off.
Ascar watched in amazement as Thorne took down the attackers one by one. But when one of them lunged at him with a dagger, Ascar realized he needed to defend himself.
Thorne shouted at him to use his magic, but Ascar was embarrassed to admit that he didn't know how. Thorne's eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't have time to ask any questions.
With a few swift moves, Thorne took down the last of the attackers and turned to Ascar. "Well, that was fun," he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "But I think it's time we got out of here. Those were just a few of the sorcerer's henchmen. If we're not careful, they'll be back, and next time, they won't be so easy to defeat."
Ascar's eyes widened as he listened to Thorne's words. Sorcerer? Henchmen? What was going on?
Thorne seemed to sense his confusion. "Don't worry, traveller," he said. "I'll explain everything to you. But first, we need to get you somewhere safe. My name is Thorne, and I'm willing to be your mentor and teach you how to use your magic. But you need to be willing to learn."
Ascar hesitated, unsure of what to do. He still didn't understand where he was or how he had gotten there. But something about Thorne's words resonated with him. Maybe it was the old man's kind eyes or his warm smile. Whatever it was, Ascar felt a sense of trust wash over him.
"Okay," he said finally. "I'll do it."
Thorne smiled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Excellent!" he said. "Now, let's get out of here before any more trouble finds us."
Ascar nodded
