Ascar followed Thorne into his house, still trying to wrap his head around everything that had happened. Thorne led him to a cozy living room, filled with books and strange artifacts. Ascar's eyes widened as he took in the sight of the room.
Thorne gestured for Ascar to sit down, and then he began to explain. "The Sorcerer's name is Malakai," he said. "He's a powerful magician who seeks to conquer and destroy this world. He's been using his magic to terrorize the city, and many people have suffered at his hands."
Ascar listened intently, his eyes fixed on Thorne's face. "But why is he after you?" he asked.
Thorne smiled wryly. "I'm a bit of a thorn in his side," he said. "You see, I'm one of the strongest magicians in the city, and I've been teaching others how to defend themselves against Malakai's magic. He sees me as a threat, and he's been trying to eliminate me for months."
Ascar's eyes widened as he realized the danger that Thorne was in. "I'm sorry," he said. "I didn't mean to put you in danger."
Thorne waved his hand dismissively. "You didn't put me in danger, Ascar," he said. "Malakai was already after me. But I'm glad you're here. I think you could be a valuable ally in our fight against Malakai."
Ascar thought back to the events that had led him to this world. He remembered the amulet and the glow. He instinctively reached into his pocket and felt the amulet still there. But he said nothing about it to Thorne.
Thorne seemed to sense that Ascar was deep in thought. "Are you okay, Ascar?" he asked.
Ascar nodded, trying to shake off his thoughts. "Yeah, I'm fine," he said. "I'm just trying to process everything that's happened."
Thorne nodded understandingly. "I know it's a lot to take in," he said. "But I'm here to help you. And I think it's time we started your magic lessons."
Ascar's eyes widened in surprise. "Magic lessons?" he repeated.
Thorne nodded. "Yes, magic lessons," he said. "You have a lot to learn, Ascar. But I'm confident that you'll be a quick learner."
Ascar hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But then he remembered the bullies back in his own world, and how he had always felt powerless against them. He realized that he had no choice but to learn how to use his magic.
"Yes," he said finally. "I'm ready to learn."
Thorne smiled, his eyes twinkling with approval. "Excellent," he said. "Let's get started."
Ascar followed Thorne to a study room filled with books and strange artifacts. Thorne began to explain the basics of magic, and Ascar listened intently, eager to learn. He knew that he had a long way to go, but he was determined to become strong enough to defend himself against Malakai and his minions.
As the lesson progressed, Ascar found himself becoming more and more fascinated with the world of magic. He had always thought of magic as something that only existed in fantasy stories, but now he was beginning to realize that it was real, and that he had the potential to wield it.
Thorne seemed to sense Ascar's excitement, and he smiled encouragingly. "You're a quick learner, Ascar," he said. "I think you're going to do just fine in this world."
Ascar smiled back at Thorne, feeling a sense of gratitude towards the old man. He knew that he still had a lot to learn, but with Thorne's help, he was confident that he could overcome any obstacle that came his way.
