Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven: The War Begins

The clash of steel against steel echoed through the forest, each strike sending sparks into the cold night air. Elijah gripped the Moonfang Blade tightly, his muscles burning from the sheer force of his opponent's strikes. The cloaked figure was faster and more skilled than anyone Elijah had ever faced.

"You fight well, Unseen Alpha," the figure taunted, his blade humming with dark energy. "But power without purpose is wasted."

"I know my purpose," Elijah growled, parrying another blow. "And it doesn't involve bowing to the Eclipse Order."

The figure laughed, a low, chilling sound. "You think you're free? That you can escape your destiny? The Lunar Crown was meant for us—to bring balance, to reshape this broken world. And you… you're just a piece of the puzzle."

Elijah snarled, his blade glowing brighter as his fury ignited something deep within him. With a roar, he swung with all his strength, the Moonfang Blade slicing through the air and forcing the figure to retreat.

Nearby, Sophia and Lucas were holding their own against the rogues, though the sheer number of enemies threatened to overwhelm them. Sophia's magic erupted in bursts of green fire, pushing back attackers, while Lucas fought tooth and claw, his wolf form relentless.

"Elijah!" Sophia shouted, her voice strained. "We can't hold them much longer!"

Elijah's heart pounded. He needed to end this. Summoning every ounce of his strength, he lunged at the cloaked figure, their blades colliding in a blinding flash of light.

The force of the impact knocked them both backward, and Elijah hit the ground hard, his vision swimming. When he looked up, the cloaked figure was standing over him, his blade poised to strike.

"You've got spirit, boy," the figure said, his voice almost admiring. "But you're not ready for this war."

Before Elijah could react, the figure slashed the air with his blade, creating a rippling wave of dark energy that sent Elijah and his packmates sprawling.

"Consider this a warning," the figure said, his voice echoing as he and the remaining rogues disappeared into the shadows. "The Eclipse Order will claim what's rightfully ours. Prepare yourself, Unseen Alpha. The storm is just beginning."

When the dust settled, Elijah struggled to his feet, his body battered and his mind racing. Sophia and Lucas were bruised but alive, their expressions a mix of exhaustion and anger.

"What was that?" Lucas demanded, shifting back into human form. "That guy wasn't just some rogue. He was something else entirely."

Sophia nodded, her face pale. "That was dark magic. The Eclipse Order has access to powers beyond what we've seen before."

Elijah clenched his fists, his frustration boiling over. "They're testing us. Wearing us down. And next time, they won't hold back."

Sophia stepped closer, placing a hand on his arm. "Elijah, we survived. That's what matters. But she's right—we need help. We can't face them alone."

Elijah's gaze drifted to the Moonfang Blade, still glowing faintly in his hand. His parents' words echoed in his mind: Gather allies. Protect the pack.

"You're right," he said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside him. "It's time to stop reacting and start acting. We need to find others—wolves, witches, anyone willing to fight. If the Eclipse Order wants a war, we'll give them one."

The next day, Elijah gathered his parents, Sophia, and Lucas around the old table in the hidden crypt. Maps, books, and ancient artifacts lay spread before them.

"We need to identify potential allies," Elijah said, tracing his finger over the map of Ashwood and its surrounding areas. "There are other packs nearby, and we've heard rumors of independent witches and hunters. Some of them might be willing to stand with us."

"Hunters?" Lucas asked, raising an eyebrow. "You're seriously considering working with them? They don't exactly play well with wolves."

"Desperate times," Elijah replied. "If they're willing to help us fight the Eclipse Order, we'll find common ground."

Sophia leaned forward, pointing to a section of the map marked with dense forest. "There's a coven out here—reclusive, but powerful. If we can convince them to join us, they could tip the scales in our favor."

Daniel, Elijah's father, spoke up. "And the packs to the north. They're independent, but they respect strength. If you approach them as the Unseen Alpha, they might listen."

Lydia nodded. "But be careful. Not everyone will be eager to join. Some might see this as an opportunity to take you down."

Elijah's jaw tightened. "Let them try. This is bigger than me—or any of us. If we don't unite, the Eclipse Order will tear us apart."

Their first stop was the northern packs. Elijah, Sophia, and Lucas traveled deep into the woods, their journey marked by tense silence. When they finally reached the northern territory, they were met with wary eyes and growls from the pack's sentries.

"What business do you have here?" a large, scarred wolf demanded, stepping forward.

Elijah stepped ahead of his packmates, his voice calm but commanding. "I'm Elijah Greyson, the Unseen Alpha. I've come to ask for your help."

The sentries exchanged uncertain glances before leading them to their alpha, a grizzled wolf named Marcus. He listened to Elijah's account of the Eclipse Order with a skeptical expression.

"You expect me to risk my pack for a war that doesn't concern us?" Marcus asked, his tone sharp.

"It concerns all of us," Elijah said firmly. "The Eclipse Order won't stop with me. They'll come for every pack, every coven, until they control everything. If we don't stand together, we'll fall alone."

Marcus studied him for a long moment before nodding. "You've got fire, boy. I'll give you that. I'll rally my pack—but don't think for a second I'm doing this for free. When this is over, we'll renegotiate the borders."

Elijah nodded, accepting the terms. He didn't have the luxury to argue.

By the time they returned to Ashwood, they had secured the tentative loyalty of the northern packs and a promise to meet with the reclusive coven.

But as they approached the edge of town, a chilling sight stopped them in their tracks.

The forest bordering Ravenwood High was ablaze, thick smoke curling into the sky. Dark figures moved among the trees, their eyes glowing like embers.

"They're here," Sophia whispered, her voice trembling.

Elijah shifted into his wolf form, the Moonfang Blade glowing brightly in his hand.

"Then let's show them what happens when they challenge the pack," he growled, his yellow eyes blazing with determination.

With a howl that echoed through the night, Elijah led his pack into the fire, ready to face the storm head-on.
