Chapter 8 - Training and departure

[I explain to you. You look around you; there are so many machines here. What you will be able to learn from them will take you a long time to learn from these books.]

[Mechanic talents were split into three trees. Each talent tree had over 20 talents that were divided into the five levels of basic, intermediate, advanced, expert, and master.

Talents formed the core of a character's class.

Learning a class unlocks the first talent, and subsequent talents require Potential points.

There are three ways to obtain Potential points: through leveling or mastering a skill.]

After thinking for a while, he agreed, and he started to train himself.

Now Aaron was working on his magic and machines, and he was getting better every day. If he had trouble understanding something, then Riya would help him, and yes, Riya is the name of the voice in the system that Aaron gave her.

________

Time went by quickly, and it's around 15 days. Aaron continued to assemble and enhance machines to gain experience, and as he improved, his perfection rate in assembly consistently hit over 90%. This gave him a lot of bonus experience.

Although assembling the same kind of machine too many times gradually decreased the experience gained—up to a point where it would not yield any experience at all—there was an armory in the base that was essentially a gold mine of machines, providing Aaron with all the resources he needed to gain experience through assembly.

With nothing much to do and no one to converse with, Aaron channeled his focus and thoughts into studying machinery and training his magic. He found solace in the sense of accomplishment that crafting brought him. Aaron had grown accustomed to his life here. Aside from training, he spent all his time working with machines in the tuning room. The room had become a haven of sorts for him. This was extremely advantageous for Aaron, who was tirelessly gaining as much experience as he could. He also tried to memorize as many blueprints as he could.

When Aaron could no longer gain experience from assembling a certain machine, he would proceed to work on enhancing it by advancing the blueprint at his potential point. After many hours of training, Aaron also managed to master the two skills of 'Basic Blue Flame' and 'Basic Fire Manipulation' and unexpectedly unlocked a passive combined ability of wind and fire called 'Fire Tornado' in magic. After his continued efforts, he also learned 'Basic Assembly' and 'Basic Enhancement' and reached Lv. 4 in both of them, while his 'Basic Combat' and 'Basic Shooting' reached Lv. 2. Mechanics required substantial amounts of resources and currency for growth, and while this would normally be a limitation of the class, Aaron had access to free materials from this base.

He had used up almost 30% of the machines in the armory, accumulating a total of 120,000 experience! Without monsters or missions, only mechanics and basic magic training could earn so much experience in such a short amount of time.

"Well, now I have to raise my mechanic level a little more so that I can forge that weapon."

[Machinery knowledge was an important factor of the Mechanic class, and for that, you need some high-level blueprints. There are four ways to obtain them.

The first method of obtaining them is through leveling talents.

The second method is through completing missions—some missions reward blueprints.

The third way is through reverse engineering, done by disassembling machinery. However, on top of certain conditions and requirements, this method expends experience points.

The fourth way—and the most important one—was through combining talents. This method also expends experience points. As there are 60 talents, and the same type of combination could yield different kinds of blueprints, the possibilities are endless. Some blueprints even have hidden prerequisites, making it hard to determine exactly how many blueprints could be derived from a certain combination. The experience needed to perform talent combination also increases with each attempt, so you have to think properly about which blueprint you have to combine with the other.]

"Ok, first, let's check how much exp I need to level up.

Aaron looked at his status bar for some time, and then he was very happy to see his progress. He closed his status bar, left the main computer room, and went upstairs to the machinery room. He then put some small machines in his storage ring that he had made so far, and along with it, he also put some machines in the ring that he had not yet learned about.

[So you have made good progress now. You have already learned all about the machines here, and what is left is far above your level, which you cannot understand.]

"Yeah, that's why I've decided to start my journey in the outside world so I can learn about animals and new things, and maybe I'll learn something about my father."

[That's right, but you should take some weapons with you so that you can fight those animals. You cannot make any scientific weapons right now because you do not have the knowledge of them, so in this case, you will have to work with simple weapons only.]

"Well, for the moment, I have a sword; maybe it will be enough for me. Can't we do this work later?"

[Yes, you have a sword, which is also very good, but you can only fight with it at a short distance, even if you enhance it with magic. However, you should also carry a long-range weapon like a bow and arrow for long-range attacks.]

"Understood. Then I'll have to go back to that gun shop again so I can pick up the weapon I saw there last time." I noticed a bow and arrow that looked very powerful, and its arrows also seemed strong.

[I think this type of weapon should be perfect for you, and you can also enhance it with your magic. After that, you will not need to get too close to any animal, and you can stay safe.]

After discussing with Riya about his weapons for some more time, Aaron decided to leave and went back to the main computer to inform it about his departure.

_________

"So now, are you going to lock yourself away again, or are you going to carry on? Because I don't know when I'll be back here."

(It's up to you. If you want me to keep working, I will. If you want me to stop, I will stop, and I will shut down myself.)

"So, what if I stay away from this place and you work? Is there any way that I can be connected to you and command you? If there is such a way, then tell me."

(Yes, there is definitely a way through which you can stay connected with me and operate me even when you are away from here.)

As soon as the computer said this, a small box came out from under the keyboard and presented itself to Aaron. After some time, the box opened by itself. When Aaron saw what was in the box, he took it out and tied it on his wrist. There was a watch in that box which was in the safe of a star. In the middle of the watch, inside a circular design, was a shadow of the clock's needles. That clock was like a mini computer.
