Vera opened her eyes gasping ,her body sprung up as she looked around.
"Verana it's okay your safe " she felt a warm hand holding hers.
She turned to see Alec sitting next to her .
"Mr. Irvine ...I thought ...I ...was ..he..." tears fell from her eyes.
He moved pulling her into his arms ,"it's alright , his gone " he said in a calming tone.
He could feel the loud beating of her heart , as her tears drenched his shoulder, while her hands clenched on his shirt.
Gently he parted her back calming her down.
"Your safe now " he whispered to her .
She sobbed in his arms and he held her until she calmed down .
Later when Eva came in ,she found Verana soundly sleeping on Alec laps.
"She's asleep " he said.
Eva sighed .
"Thank you for saving her " she said.
Alec's eyes moved down Vera's face .
"Am here husband it's my duty to protect her " he muttered.
Eva smiled.
When Vera opened her eyes again she was in laying down covered with a coat.
Sitting up she noticed Alec beside her desk on a phone call. His back was facing her so he could see her .
Her memory was slowly got back to her ,Dalton almost killing her then ....she blinked gazing back at him.
It was him who she has hugged after then going to sleep in his arms.
The coat in her arms must belong to him then.
His phone ended and when he turned he saw her staring at him.
"Your awake" he walked to where she was.
She weakly smiled ,"It's seems I over slept "
It was already dark outside she had noticed.
His eyes where on her neck , "should we get that checked?"he asked.
Her hand moved to touch her swollen red neck , the hand prints visible .
She gulped painfully shaking her head.
"Am fine ,alittle painkillers and ice can fix this " she said.
His frown disagreed but she convinced him she was fine.
"The rest all went home , should I drive you home?"
"Thanks but I have kept you here with me for long , you should also head back " replied Verana as she passed his coat to him.
"Am sorry but I insist , you don't look well" he got up grabbing her things.
Vera was in pain to argue so she followed his lead and they left the company with him.
"Welcome " her now husky voice said.
He followed her into her home .
"Should I get you anything ?" She asked.
"Don't bother , I will find my way " he said.
She walked off to her bedroom to take a shower leaving him in the sitting room.

"I almost died today ,Dad " Vera said to herself while in the bath tub.
Images of the incident kept flashing in her mind.
"But when did he get there?" She wondered. All she remembers was before she passed out ,so when did Alec arrived and what happened to Dalton.
She would call Eva and ask her later.
After minutes of soaking she finally stepped out .
When she returned a sweet smell had filled the kitchen.
He was in the kitchen, his sleeve folded to his elbow with an apron on ,he was busy stirring .
"What are you making ?" She came in.
"Something warm and good for your state" he said.
She walked closer , he scooped some soup blowed on it and passed it to her. She tasted and beamed .
"This is good, can't believe you know how to cook" she let out.
He chuckled.
"Why cause I look like a spoilt brat ?"
"No...it's just that your born in a rich family ...I believe your surrounded with maids " she remembered the day she woke up in his home ,he had maids .
He nodded.
"I do but I learnt how to do it incase one day I needed to impress my wife "
She blinked when there eyes met.
