Chereads / Dragon Age: The Dragon Viking / Chapter 17 - chapter 13

Chapter 17 - chapter 13

Two years had passed.

The war between the King of All Dragons and the Northern Alliance had reached its peak. Everyone was feeling the shock of the war.

The King's dragons were getting tired and weary. For three years, the war had been going on and there was no end at sight. Billions of dragons fought against them, and billions had died. They were fighting out of fear and spite against the humans.

The Northern Alliance were also slowly losing their territory and manpower. They had been getting hammered left and right by the dragons. Drago Bludvist was getting desperate. He was losing dragons and humans alike.

There were dragon refugees that fled the war. Most had come to the Secret nest to save themselves. Hiccup accepted them with open arms, given that they accept his call. He let them work in non-violent places, such as food and medical sectors.

"What do you want to do after this is over, Scorpion?"

The Deathgripper blinked. He was at the meeting room with the other sector leaders. Hiccup was there as well, in his dragon form. The 22-year-old Night Fury looked mentally exhausted. Everyone was simply resting their body.

Scorpion looked at Obeah. She was the one who had asked the question. "I don't know." He confessed. "I think things will go back to normal."

"It's going to be hard to go back to normal." Obeah replied. "It's been three years. Everyone is angry for the war. They want them to be over."

The dragons in Secret nest were getting tired. While they still fought with bravery and vehemence, there were thoughts of the days when the war will be over. While they were not affected that much, due to their roles in the war, everyone was getting tired of them.

Hiccup and the nest leaders were exhausted. The nest was getting far too massive to manage. Over 6 billion dragons lived in Secret nest. They had to keep digging lower and lower underground, to ensure that everyone had a place to live and stay.

They had to create isolated environments for ocean and forest underground. Fishes and vegetables had to be homegrown and bred inside the nest. While there were many fishes on the surface, they could not get them there fast enough to feed everyone before they expire.

The only way to resolve this was by expanding their territory on the surface. However, they could not do that, as majority of the territories surrounding the archipelago was owned by the King.

The humans were the only ones that seemed happier than most. This was primarily because they had dragons helping them. Everything for them had never been easier than before.

Stoick and the Hairy Hooligan Tribes had done great job on rallying everyone and become allies together. They fly dragons under the banner of Dragon Riders. They were flourishing with food and resources thanks to the dragons. However, it was not without caveat.

Drago Bludvist had gone and attacked the Barbaric Archipelago. They wanted the dragons for themselves and destroy their settlements. The Dragon Riders were at war against him and his army. The man himself and the Bewilderbeast were not there, thankfully. They had to face against their human and dragon army.

"We'll think about it when we get there." Scorpion shrugged. "Things will change. That could become the normal for us."

Obeah looked at the Changewing. "What about you, Ghost?"

Ghost looked around to the others. Then, he spoke. "Indigo wanted to lay more eggs again."

The said Deadly Nadder lightly smacked him with her head. "Oh, I know you want it too."

The Changewing smiled at him. Then, he looked at Obeah. "Maybe I'll retire and pass on the mantle to someone else. I want to spend more time with my hatchlings."

"I want to retire as well after this war." Indigo spoke, looking at Hiccup.

"You can do whatever you want after this." Hiccup blandly spoke.

"What about you, Alpha?"

"Hmm?" The Night Fury looked at Obeah.

"What do you want to do after this war?"

Hiccup thought more about it. He did not really have any goal set in mind. He simply wanted to live in peace. "… Well, I have to keep on leading the nest, that's for sure."

Everyone chuckled. They knew how it felt, as they were currently experiencing it. Everyone were always busy managing the nest. The gathering was one of the rare moments when they had nothing to do.

"You can't really run away from your duty."

"I know." Hiccup nodded. "I might get a successor and pass along the mantle to someone someday."

The sector leaders looked at each other. They were not sure if there will ever be a better alpha than Hiccup. They were not sure if it was a good idea to do that.

"Spend more time with Luna. Move to the Hidden World." The Night Fury continued speaking, looking deep in thought. "Actually make some hatchlings. Come to think of it, I never really have much of my own time to spend since…"

Hiccup's expression turned solemn. "… 9 years ago, when those dragons joined my nest." He muttered.

The sector leaders were silent. They did not know what to say. The Night Fury hummed. "I guess I'll think more about it when we actually get there."

Then, Obeah spoke up. "You can always become an alpha without a subject."

That confused Hiccup. "What?"

Ghost seemed to realise this. "If you become the King of All Dragons, you can bless dragons and turn them into alpha." He explained to him. "You can pass your subjects to another alpha."

Hiccup looked at Obeah. He gave her a deadpan expression. "Obeah, you know I can't do that."

The titan wing Prickleboggle tilted her head. "Why not- oh" She remembered. Hiccup could not let go a call without killing the dragon. At least, the ones that he had captured ever since they were eggs.

"Yeah. Exactly." Hiccup dryly spoke.

That confused the three sector leaders. "What's wrong?" Ghost asked.

Hiccup used his call to inform the other sector leaders of the information. Ghost, Indigo and Scorpion stumbled back, shocked by that information.

"Obeah and I had been figuring out a way to counteract that." Hiccup explained to them. "We haven't found anything that might solve that problem."

"I theorised that you could directly, peacefully transfer dragon call to another dragon without killing them." Obeah explained to him. "It was a common ability. However, we don't have another alpha dragon to test them out. The alpha dragon species we have did not count."

"Well, I'm not giving any of my dragons to the King or Green Death anytime soon." Hiccup spoke, sarcastic.

Then, he paused. He tilted his head as he felt distress coming from some of his dragons. Checking them through his call, his eyes widened.

The Night Fury instantly stood up. "Green Death just died!"

"WHAT?!" The sector leaders immediately stood up.

"Drago Bludvist's Bewilderbeast just killed her." Hiccup told them. "They're going after the King's nest soon."

They instantly know what to do. They had planned it multiple times before. "I'll get the troops." Scorpion shouted before taking off to get out.

"So much for peaceful day." Ghost grumbled, before getting out of the cave.

Hiccup raised his head. He used his call to inform the dragons that were together with humans. After that was done, he looked at Obeah. "Get the medical dragons out." He spoke. "We're going full force on this one."

The Prickleboggle's eyes widened. "Everything?"

"Everything." Hiccup nodded. He looked at Indigo. "Food sector dragons would be the only one in the nest. I'm trusting you on this one, Indigo."

"Yes, Alpha!"

"Let's move!" The Night Fury exclaimed.

With that, everyone went out of the cave.

Hundreds of thousands of dragons were flying up in the sky. They flew in formation, varying both in size and altitude. Some of the dragons had humans riding them on their back.

Hiccup and Luna were both flying high up at the middle. Stoick was also there, flying on the back of a Rumblehorn.

On the other side was a small girl riding a Woolly Howl. She had wild blonde hair. She held ferocious expression on her face. Her name was Camicazi – daughter of Big-Boobied Bertha and heir of Bog-Burglar tribe.

She was there since Bertha was busy with the tribe.

The four of them were flying in formation. There were humans riding dragons under them. They were flying at moderate pace towards the King's nest. There were several destroyed ships littered around, along with a huge gaping hole at the ice structure. There was several ships intact and roaming around.

They could hear loud roars coming out from the nest. "I think we arrived just in time!" Hiccup shouted.

Stoick turned to look at Hiccup. "Is Drago in there?"

"His Bewilderbeast is fighting the King." Hiccup replied. "Drago is there watching with his men."

"Alright!" Camicazi exclaimed. "It should be easy to take them down!"

"Remember to coordinate with your dragons." The Night Fury spoke. "Don't interfere with the alpha battle. It will ruin the pact."

Majority of humans there had learned Dragonese. The rest were still learning them. Over the span of 2 years, everyone learned that dragons were their friends. They bonded with them, knowing that they were both powerful together.

"Camicazi." Hiccup started. "You'll be dealing with the ships. Feel free to take whatever you want from there."

"Hel yeah!" The girl cheered. "Let me show you how Bog-Burglars did it!"

The Woolly Howl flew down. The girl let out a whistle, signalling her group to come with her. Dragons flew down after her, most of which had riders on their back. It was half of the whole group. They moved to engage the ships down below.

Hiccup looked at his father. "Dad." He spoke with serious tone. "Whoever come out on top of the alpha battle, I will have to challenge them."

"Are you ready for this, son?" Stoick asked.

"I have been training and preparing myself for this." Hiccup answered. He looked determined. "Failure is not an option. But there's also something else. Drago Bludvist is there. Are you going to fight him?"

"That madman killed everyone in the chieftain meeting." Stoick gritted his teeth. "I will make sure he regret it."

"Okay, well, good luck with that." Hiccup nodded. "But that's not what I want to talk about. When I engage his Bewilderbeast, there will be an interference from them. Do not prevent this."

"What?" Stoick gaped. "But that's not fair for you!"

"Based on their appearance, Drago's Bewilderbeast will win the battle." Hiccup told him. "He will win against the King. I will challenge him. If there was ever an interference from them, which they will, I will instantly win the battle and become the King of All Dragons."

"Who enforced these rules, anyway?" Stoick asked, incredulous.

Hiccup smiled at him. "Dragon magic."

"Dragon magic?" The chief questioned, curious.

"I don't understand it myself." Hiccup shrugged. "But it's the one that enforced the rules. Don't try to help me either. That's an interference. Just fight Drago's men down there and everything will go as planned."

Stoick was hesitated. He did not want to see his son getting hurt. However, he trusted his son enough to make his judgement. "… Alright, son." He firmly nodded.

"Let's hope I don't have to do much on the fight." Hiccup spoke.

"What about me?" Luna asked.

Hiccup looked at her. "Stay high up to monitor the situation." He ordered her. "You're my view from the sky."

"Alright." The Light Fury nodded.

With that, Hiccup and the Rumblehorn dove down into the nest. The rest of the dragon followed, with exception of Luna.

Behind the brave and prideful exterior, Hiccup was scared.

The fear did not come from fighting against the Bewilderbeast. Hiccup was confident that he could defeat them. He had been keeping up with his training and never slacked a day off. His paranoia had been keeping himself on his toes.

The fear comes from what would happen when he became the King of All Dragons. Several years ago, when he battled Red Death and took the mantle, he gained so much power, it allowed him to do many things that not even the King of All Dragons could do.

He nearly became intoxicated with all those powers. It was something that came from his dragon side. There were times when the plans he made were subconsciously driven by his instinct. He never really noticed them until it was too late.

This was one of those plans.

Hiccup heard a roar. He was inside the nest, flying along with the Rumblehorn that his father was riding. They were somewhat flying high in the nest, observing the two titans battling it out with each other.

As Hiccup expected, the King of All Dragons were slowly losing against Drago's Bewilderbeast. Various dragons were flying all over the place, panicking and fighting each other. He noticed that the Dragon Riders and his dragons had gone engaging those dragons.

The Night Fury looked down. He noticed a group of people shouting and yelling at something. He squinted his eyes and noticed a tall, well-built man in black cape made of dragon skin. He only had one arm, carrying a sharp ended bull-hook.

Hiccup recognised him. He was Drago Bludvist. The self-proclaimed dragon god.

"Well, that's our man of the day." The Night Fury commented. Stoick looked down. He noticed the person there.

The chief narrowed his eyes. Hiccup asked. "He's all yours, but I think we need to take care of those men behind him."

"Take them out." Stoick growled. "I'll take care of Drago."

Hiccup broke off from the Rumblehorn. He sped up, flipped himself around and dove down towards the crowd of enemy humans. His dive created a loud shrieking sound as he prepared a full powered plasma blast. Once he was close to them, he fired right at the middle of the group.

It instantly exploded, sending bodies flying all over the place. Hiccup dove right back up. He noticed that the King of All Dragons was distracted. He was shocked to see humans inside the nest.

His distraction proved to be a fatal mistake. Drago's Bewilderbeast moved and slammed his tusks down into his stomach. The King of All Dragons roared in pain. The battle would end soon enough.

Rumblehorn landed close to Drago. Stoick instantly jumped off and pulled out his sword. The self-proclaimed dragon god noticed him. His eyes widened, shocked to see him there. "You!" He growled. "I watched you burn!"

"It takes more than a little fire to kill me!" Stoick roared. He went off charging towards Drago, swords raised. They both moved to engage one another.

Hiccup was watching the battlefield. The King of All Dragons was dying. He had been defeated, but not given up yet. Drago's Bewilderbeast looked exhausted, but it was not done with the King just yet.

As he watched, the Bewilderbeast kept thrusting his tusk into the King. It looked like it was trying to skewer the dragon. After some time, it finally released him. He pulled back and let out a victorious roar.

Hiccup sensed that the transfer of power. It was far weaker than what he had experienced back when he defeated Red Death. There was no glow or flash – simply a call to pull all the dragons that the deceased King once had.

The Night Fury knew it was his time to shine. He let out his powerful call and screeched. "KING OF ALL DRAGONS! I CHALLENGE YOU!"

"Master!" The Bewilderbeast looked at Drago. "What should I do?"

Hiccup did not give him any chances. He had made his declaration. The challenge for King of All Dragons was not initiated based on consent, unlike challenging normal alpha title. As long the first party made the declaration, the wager was set.

The alpha Night Fury dove down to him. He charged a full powered plasma blast and fired at its tusk. The hit impacted the dragon and one of its tusks broke off. Hiccup flew back up. He had taken out one of its physical weapons.

Hiccup could feel it trying to use its call to him. He was immune to alpha call, even to the King of All Dragons. Seeing an easy fight, he dove down once more, charging another powerful plasma blast and fired. It hit the other tusk, destroying that one too.

Hiccup flew back up. He kept up his speed, since it was something that he was good at. Flying near mach inside a nest was probably not a good idea, but he was Dark Chaser! He had been practicing and training himself for this very moment!

The alpha Night Fury could see that it was firing burst streams of water. It missed, but it turned into ice upon contact to a platform. Hiccup charged a powerful attack. His body crackled with green electricity. He needed to finish the dragon.

There were times where he wondered if he overprepared himself for the situation. He had expected the dragon to put up more fight, considering it had killed Tree Hugger and Green Death. Was it too reliant on Drago for command?

That would be the very mistake that he relished to exploit!

Suddenly, he saw something at the corner of his eyes. Something sharp was flying towards him. He moved up to dodge, but it somehow impacted his rear leg. Hiccup screeched. He looked down to see a bull hook impaled his leg.

"INTERFERENCE!" Hiccup roared. "YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS!"

The alpha Night Fury rolled around. The bull hook detached itself from his roll. Internally, he was happy. The fight was way too easy. He flew up high and redirected his charge. He stalled, flipped over and fired a powerful, green bolt of electricity to the Bewilderbeast.

The giant dragon was hit. Green electricity connected and enveloped its body. The dragon roared in pain as it felt something ripped away from it. It trashed around the place, trying to make it stop. However, it only made the electricity more violent.

Hiccup felt power entering his body. It was far powerful than what he felt before. His body glowed with power. Blue aura enveloped his body. Everything and anything that he had before were exponentially amplified.

Even with all the chaos happening, he could hear everything happening around him. From silent gasps to pin drops. He could hear and sense them. His scales were getting stronger than ever. He felt himself getting bigger as well.

More senses and abilities unlocked to him. Knowledge invaded his mind. It was far more plentiful than ever before. He had ascended far beyond an alpha dragon. Claiming the title of King of All Dragons had made him ascend beyond that.

More and more power poured in. Hiccup could not hold it anymore. The empowerment was getting faster; like a flood gate that was getting wider. He let out an ear-splitting screech. His body glowed brighter, as he gave in to the power.

The screech grew louder, and the pitch grew higher. Everyone covered their eyes.

Then, there was a click.

Everything went white.

Stoick was the first one to wake up.

He let out a groan. The man had been watching Hiccup the moment Drago threw his bull hook at Hiccup. It was a coward's way out – trying to kill Hiccup to take control of the dragons to kill them. It did hit, but thankfully, his son shrugged them off like it was nothing.

He hoped that he made the right decision.

"Stoick!"

The chief was embraced. He looked at the source and saw Valka. He smiled at her. "Valka, you're alright."

"Stoick." Valka spoke, worried. She let go of him. "Something is wrong."

"What do you…" Stoick trailed off as he looked around the place.

Strange was the right word for it. When they arrived, the whole nest was covered with ice. It still was. However, there were black tree branches that looked more like tendrils sprouting out all over the place. It was reflective, looking more like flesh. Staring at it felt wrong. Everything felt wrong.

He looked to the side. It showed what was happening outside. The sky was red with blood. For the first time in his life, he could stare at the sun without burning his eyes. It was dark red with red border. It looked like solar eclipse than anything.

The sea was black. Completely black. It looked more like a sea of ink. There were massive tendrils around the sea, forming tree-like shapes and branches around the place. If he stared at them long enough, he could see ships and humans impaled on the branches.

It looked like something out of their worst nightmare.

He slowly stood up. He looked down to where the titans were supposed to be fighting. The two Bewilderbeasts were floating in the air, impaled by hundreds of black tendrils. It pierced through them, as if those tendrils had come up like swords.

They were obviously dead.

The dragons around them were frozen. Completely frozen. Everyone there were suspended in the air. Even fire and attack were frozen in place. It looked as if time had completely stopped for them.

The humans still can move. They were climbing down from dragon to dragon, trying to get back down to the ground. They were in the middle of a huge battle when it happened. The frozen dragons seemed to hold them up just fine.

Suddenly, they heard bat wings. Valka and Stoick looked up. Luna the Light Fury was the only dragon that was moving. She landed in front of them. "Are you two alright?"

"Luna." Stoick asked. "What happened?"

Luna looked scared. "I- I don't know." She confessed. "I felt Hiccup getting the title, but then my call was forcefully cut off." She looked around. "I think whatever it was, Hiccup caused this. He was trying to protect me."

"Where's Hiccup?" Valka asked.

"I don't know." Luna sounded frustrated.

"Okay." Stoick spoke, calming himself down. "Did Hiccup tell you anything about this?"

"Hiccup told me that something could happen when he gained the title." The Light Fury explained to him. "The King of All Dragons is a special type of alpha, where they rule amongst all dragons, even alpha dragons."

"I was there when he defeated Red Death." Luna confessed. "It was something that I had never seen! He got more than he bargained for when he ascended to alpha dragon."

"Alpha dragons can only capture dragons if they consented for it." Luna finished. "Hiccup doesn't need to do that. As long his dragons were close to them, he can capture them to do his bidding."

"That shouldn't be possible." Valka muttered. She had read the documents that Obeah provided her. She was one of the humans that know more about alpha dragons.

"We need to look for Hiccup." Stoick firmly spoke. "Luna, can I ride you?"

The Light Fury shook her head. "No." She spoke. "Someone tried to ride me minutes ago. They instantly got burned when they touched my saddle."

Stoick threw his hands up. He let out a sigh. "Have you searched for Hiccup?"

"I… did…" Luna trailed off. She moved her head to see someone behind the two humans.

Valka and Stoick noticed this. They turned around. There, they could see Hiccup in his dragon form. He was sitting on his hindlegs, facing away from them. He was bigger than before. They looked down a bit and noticed that Drago was laying down unconscious between them.

"Hiccup…" Valka started.

Before she could take a step, Luna stopped her. "Stop."

Both humans looked at her. The Light Fury looked terrified. "Hiccup… he's different…" She whispered. "Did you feel that?"

That confused them. "I don't feel anything."

Luna shook her head. "Only dragons can feel them." She finally decided. "We can feel whenever someone is an alpha or not. The King of All Dragons felt different too. But Hiccup…" She shuddered her breath. "… I don't know. It felt far more powerful than that."

Valka and Stoick frowned. They came to approach Hiccup.

However, before they even reached half their distance, they suddenly felt unadulterated amount of fear. They instantly paled as they suddenly see themselves impaled by those tendrils.

The two immediately scrambled back. They frantically looked at themselves and found them just fine. Valka sharply looked at her husband. Stoick looked at her. Seeing her expression, he realised that she must have felt it too.

Suddenly, they heard a whine and a groan coming from the body in front of them. Drago Bludvist was slowly regaining consciousness. He sat up from the ground. The first thing he noticed was Stoick. "You."

Stoick gritted his teeth. "Drago."

Drago looked around. He frowned upon seeing the place around him. He slowly stood from the ground. His angry expression turned to confusion. He turned to look at Stoick. "What happened?"

"I. Happened."

Everyone shuddered at the voice. It was spoken in every language they know at the same time. It sounded extremely powerful – like the voice of god speaking to them. At the same time, it sounded wrong. Very wrong. They felt like an insect at the presence of a giant.

It sounded so malicious, they felt terror simply by hearing it.

Everyone turned to look at Hiccup. He was still not moving. Drago gritted his teeth. "You killed my dragon!" He roared.

There was no response. The madman continued speaking. "No matter. You'll do."

Drago let out a battle cry at him. There was no response. He looked around for his bull hook. Seeing none, he pulled out his shield. He moved to approach Hiccup. He raised his fist, intending to hit him at the back of the head.

Suddenly, black tendrils sprung up from the ground. It caught his limbs and body, halting him in place. It lurched ahead and moved him up to the sky. Drago struggled, but the grip was too strong.

"Drago Bludvist." That voice was heard once more. It was coming from Hiccup. "Human."

"Bold of you to claim power over dragons." Hiccup spoke. He was still not moving, but his body was shimmering with red glow. "You dare to claim yourself as god amongst dragons."

For once in his life, Drago felt terrified. He looked at the Night Fury in front of him. "What are you?" He whispered.

Hiccup slowly moved. He stood up and turned around. He held neutral expression on his face. His eyes, however, were shimmering. Everyone looking at him could feel the sheer strength and power radiating from him. His pupils were slit, meaning that he was angry.

"I am Toothless." Hiccup spoke. Strange enough, his mouth did not even move. "Dark Chaser. Dragon God."

It was then Luna realised what happened.

Hiccup had talked to her about his fight with Red Death before. He remembered him telling her the time when he was tempted to use his power to make dragons do his bidding. He was almost consumed by that power.

She knew defeating the King of All Dragons would give him the title. However, just like battle with Red Death, it had given him abilities beyond the norm. It empowered him beyond any other Dark Chaser she had heard before.

Instead of gaining the title, Hiccup had ascended far more than the King of All Dragons.

He was telling the truth. Hiccup became the God of Dragons.

The worst part: he was consumed by his power.

He was not himself anymore.

The world was completely at his mercy.

Astrid was not sure how she got herself in that situation.

It started when she wanted to prove herself to her parents. She had gone looking for the Night Fury, hoping to see one. She hoped to gain approval from her parents by being the first one to see them.

When she realised that would never happen, she decided to go looking for other dragons. Killing a dragon, no matter what it was, would reward her with their approval. Deadly Nadder, Monstrous Nightmare – she had seen them. It was her quest to kill one of them.

Years after years, she was too afraid to fight them. It was not that she was a coward. No. It was mostly because she did not know how to fight against dragons. Thankfully, the dragon training she went through at her 15 did help her learn them.

But then, things went to a strange turn from there.

During one of the starvation periods, dragons gave them food. When they went off to hunt dragon nest, a Night Fury appeared, spoke to them and told them that there will be no dragon raid ever again. True to his words, dragon raid stopped happening. Dragons simply disappeared overnight, never to be seen in their island.

Then Hiccup happened. The Night Fury told them that they were under command of Dragon Conqueror. It sent the whole village in a blind hunt against themselves for 2 years.

The Outcasts and the Berserkers attacked. Hiccup revealed himself as the Dragon Conqueror. He slaughtered them like yaks in a barn. While everyone on their side survived and not much was damaged, they were left to clean up the aftermath of what happened to their village.

They still find bone remnant of them in the forest from time to time.

Then one day, the chief came back with his supposedly dead wife and told everyone that he had met his son. They have dragons on their side. The chief simply let the dragons in and contribute to the village.

Everyone was sceptical and afraid, but after several days, everyone was happy because they did a lot of good things for the village. They gained a lot of allies from other tribes. She befriended other people of her age there. They went to learn the language of dragons together; Dragonese. She made a dragon friend – A Deadly Nadder that she named Stormfly.

The chief explained them of their quest. A madman wanted to conquer the world using dragons. A dragon that can control other dragon to kill all humans. Everyone had to have a dragon partner to help with the battle. He wanted everyone to be able to defend themselves.

Thankfully, the dragons were fully cooperative. As long they were willing to learn Dragonese, they were allowed to choose their own dragons. Apparently, Hiccup was the main cause of this. He had an enormous dragon army under his command. He had every kind of dragon possible serving him.

It was terrifying.

She was glad that he was their allies.

Everyone was united under the banner of Dragon Riders. They fought against pirates together. They protect their villages together. The dragons provided tremendous help on that regard. They rarely had casualties, since the dragons were trained for combat already.

There were times when she wondered what it would be like to train a dragon of her own.

One day, the chief told them to prepare for a final battle. They were off to fight alongside Hiccup. Everyone took off to help him. For the first time in their lives, they see Hiccup the Night Fury, coordinating together with the chief and Camicazi.

The Dragon Riders were tasked to fight against the humans. It was something that they were good fighting against. She was together with Camicazi's group to sink the surrounding ships. She had jumped into the ship alongside Camicazi when that happened.

"Whoa. It felt like a tree trunk."

Astrid looked around. Outside looked like a nightmare. She was on a ship deck, inside one of those giant black trees that impaled them. Smaller branches were there and impaled the enemy Vikings. Camicazi was there with her, observing and touching one of the black tree branches.

Camicazi noticed that Astrid was there. "Astrid, come look at this!"

The female Berkian approached her. "What happened?"

"I don't know." The Bog-Burglar heir confessed. "But! Look what I got!"

Camicazi pulled out a sack of coins. Astrid let out a groan. Of course, she would swipe the gold on the ship. She was a Bog-Burglar after all. "Could we focus on what happened first?"

"Well, I don't know what happened." Camicazi shrugged. She pocketed the sack. "I saw a flash and I woke up with everything like this. I think it's coming from the nest."

Astrid looked over to the railing. She could see the nest from there. It was still like before, but the place had black tendrils all over the place. The female Viking let out a loud whistle. It was a signal for her dragon.

After some time, there was silence. She frowned, worried. Stormfly never ignored the call before. It meant that something happened to her. Astrid looked around in the sky. Her eyes fell upon a Deadly Nadder somewhat close to them.

It was Stormfly. However, she was completely frozen and suspended in the air. It was as if time suddenly stopped for her. The dragon was diving to help her fight the Vikings, but something had happened.

"'cazi." Astrid spoke up. Her eyes were wide. "Are you seeing this?"

"Hmm?" Camicazi looked at her, before looking at Stormfly. "Yeah. I saw that."

Astrid shook her head in disbelief. It was a nightmare!

Upon hearing that declaration, Drago choked in shock. "Dragon God?"

"I will not repeat myself, mortal." Hiccup answered.

"Hiccup." Valka called him out.

However, the Night Fury ignored her. He was looking at Drago. "You slaughtered my subjects." He growled. "You tried to control them. Let's see if you like being controlled."

Suddenly, Drago screamed. He began writhing his body, feeling pain all over the place. The pain he felt was indescribable. It felt like his body was being torn apart.

Stoick and Valka watched in horror as Drago were being torn apart by an invisible force. Suddenly, his chest burst outward. A head of Terrible Terror appeared. The moment it did, Drago went limp. The Terror screeched as it was violently pulled out from the dead body.

The tendril disappeared and the bodies fell to the ground. The Terrible Terror shook its head. "Ow." It groaned. "What happened…"

Then, the dragon looked at itself. It let out a screech of terror. "AH!" It screamed. "I'm a dragon!"

Stoick gasped. He realised what happened. "Drago." He called, getting its attention. "Is that you?"

"STOICK!" The Terrible Terror – now known as Drago – angrily shouted. "What did you do?!"

The chief was terrified. "I- I don't know." He whispered.

Suddenly, the Terrible Terror went rigid. It relaxed, before tilting its head. "Drago? Who's that?"

"One human done." Hiccup spoke as he slowly creeped over to them. "The world next."

Luna realised what Hiccup was doing. She put herself between him and his parents. "Toothless, stop."

"… Luna?" Hiccup whispered. The pupils on his eyes delated a bit. "What are you…" Suddenly, he clutched his head. He whined as he felt headache in his head. His body briefly crackled with green electricity. Knowledge assaulted his mind. He felt himself further empowered.

It stopped as it came. Hiccup raised his head, revealing the expression that he had before. It began moving forward. Luna spread her wings, covering the two humans behind them. "Toothless, I know what you're going to do." She pleaded. "Don't do it! This is not you!"

Hiccup lowly growled. Suddenly, he pounced her. The Night Fury grabbed her and took off into the sky. Stoick and Valka watched as Hiccup carried Luna out from the nest.

Luna was completely frozen. She could not move her body. Hiccup flew higher and higher. Upon reacting the red bloodied sky, they suddenly began to float.

There was no gravity. The Light Fury floated in the red, cloudy sky. The Night Fury purred as he nuzzled her neck. "Luna…" He whispered. "… my goddess."

Luna gasped. She could feel his power coursing into her. It was soothing. She almost lost herself in the pleasure. The Light Fury moaned as Hiccup licked her neck.

"Let us be the gods of this world." Hiccup whispered to her. His voice was soft and soothing. There was no malice. She could feel the love radiating from his voice. "Just you and me."

"Hiccup." The Light Fury whimpered. "What are you trying to do?"

"I'll make you a goddess." Hiccup growled. "My goddess. Let us rule this world. The world without humans. The perfect utopia."

Upon hearing that, Luna realised what he really meant when Drago somehow turned into a dragon.

Hiccup wanted to turn all humans in the world to dragons.

That was out of character of him! The power he got literally changed him. "Snap out of it!" Luna shouted at him. "You don't want to do that! You promised me that you'll retire and move to the Hidden World with me!"

That seemed to do the trick. The feeling she felt instantly disappeared. His eyes dilated for a moment. "Hidden World…" He muttered. He blinked couple of times. "… Luna, I-"

Hiccup gasped as green electricity coursed through him once more. He clutched his head. The Night Fury released her and let out a pained shriek. "Luna, get away…" He growled.

Luna did not follow his request. She reached for him and pulled him into a hug. The Night Fury's eyes widened. The pain he felt in his head were numbed, but the power were coursing to his body still affected him.

"Toothless." Luna whispered. "Push through it. I know you can do it."

Feeling encouraged, Hiccup let out a rumbling growl. He held onto himself as he remembered his times with Luna. He remembered her laughs, times spent together, and things they did together. The experience helped him hold himself as he let the power flow through his veins.

However, the floodgate was getting wider and wider. Hiccup was starting to slip. He let out a saddened croon. "Luna…" He whispered. His eyes were contracting and dilating. "It's getting powerful… It wasn't done yet…"

The Light Fury did not know what to do. However, she quickly figured out that strong emotion would help him hold himself together. Luna moved and kissed Hiccup. He let her kiss him, and their tongue danced together in the red, bloodied sky.

That instantly numbed everything. Hiccup relaxed at the embrace and returned the hug. The red glow on him vanished. The green electricity began to grow erratic and violent. His body started glowing blue.

Luna closed her eyes. She kept hold on him. They held the kiss together. His body began glowing brighter. It illuminated the sky, making observants look away from them. Eventually, the glow became so intense, everything was glowing.

Suddenly, they heard a loud click.

Everything went white.

Stoick groaned as he sat up from the ground. It was the second time that it happened. He had gone outside to see what happened with Valka. Hiccup was glowing. Then, everything snapped, and he fell unconscious.

The chief looked around. He was inside a black void, sitting on a huge, glass bridge. It looked like it went on forever. He could see one end of it – that lead to an indescribably giant tree. It reminded him stories of Midgard. However, this was much, much darker. The tree looked like it was dying. It also felt somewhat cold at the place.

There was a lot of rainbow crystals around. Some were close, most were extremely far away. They were all as big as the doors at the Great Hall in Berk. There were billions of them. Some had eyes on them, staring down at someone at the bridge. He followed the gaze and saw Hiccup and Luna there.

Hiccup's body was still crackling with green electricity. His body was limp, and his eyes were closed. Luna had her wing wrapped around him. She was crooning and nuzzling him, comforting him.

Not wanting to disturb them, Stoick looked around once more. There were other people there, with no dragons on sight. They looked like they had just woken up as well. He approached Valka and helped her up.

After she stood from the ground, the woman smiled at him. "Thank you."

Stoick nodded. Valka looked around them. She looked confused. "What is this? Where are we?"

"The remnants of Asgard."

Everyone turned to look at Hiccup. His eyes were open. However, unlike before, his pupils were dilated. He looked to be in pain. They could see strong determination and will in his eyes.

There was no malice in his voice. They could still feel the power behind it. However, it sounded so normal, it reminded them of Hiccup.

"Hundreds of thousands of years ago." Hiccup continued speaking. "This place was flourishing with Asgardians. Odin ruled the place. Heimdall stood on this bridge."

It was then Stoick realised where they were. "We're in Asgard?" He whispered.

"Bifröst was the path to the nine realms." The pained Night Fury spoke once more. "It was also the path to other pantheons. However, after the End of Gods, this place had fallen into ruins."

Stoick choked at that word. "End of Gods?" He whispered. He heard some whisperings behind him.

"Ragnarök." Hiccup spoke. "Maitreya. Armaggedon. The world had ended long time ago. We were here because we were left behind."

That shocked everyone that listened to him. The world had ended a long time ago?! They were left behind?!

"Almost all realms were destroyed." Hiccup continued speaking. "Midgard was the last one standing. It was in process of destruction. The gods and goddess, or representation of their nature, had died and faded away."

"The world is dying. Reality itself was unstable." Hiccup winced. He panted slightly. "Valhalla, Fólkvangr, Helheim were no more. They took the souls and sent them to another world. Those who died simply faded away, leaving shards of memories in the realms of gods."

Stoick looked around the place. "These were all memories of those who died?"

"Those who stare were once living beings." Hiccup cryptically spoke. "Those who did not held many tales, had things gone differently."

The chief slowly approached one of the crystals. He moved to touch the object. Upon touching it, he had a vision. Information filled his mind, as he suddenly knew the context of this shard. It told the story of the person to him as well.

The individual he was seeing was a 15-year-old girl named Hicca Haddock. It was his daughter, if he had a daughter instead of a son. She had a long auburn hair and looked a lot more like her mother. She had a Night Fury friend named Toothless.

Hicca was hugging Toothless. The girl seemed to be comforting the dragon. Both were inside a cove. She spoke soothing tone, trying to calm the crying dragon. "I'm sorry for telling you that."

"You've done nothing wrong, Hicca." Toothless sobbed. "I- I have done things in the past. Things that she made me do."

"It wasn't your fault." Hicca softly spoke. "You were not in control."

"If only I was strong enough to break the thrall." Toothless whispered. He moved and lay down his head on the ground. "I would've not done those things."

"But you are not under thrall anymore." Hicca insisted. "It already happened. Those dragons that you wronged – they understand. They know what happened to you."

"I'm a dragon monster, Hicca." Toothless sobbed. "So many dragons killed and captured. It was all because of me."

Hicca did not know what to say about that. It was obvious that Toothless was grieving over his past life. It was one of those rare moments where Toothless was so vulnerable. Under that exterior of a tough looking dragon, there were a lot of soft sides in him.

"If you're a dragon monster." Hicca started. "Then I'm a magic monster."

Toothless looked at her with surprise. Hicca continued speaking. "You saw what I can do." She started. "I can do magic. I can control humans and dragons. I can torture and kill others in a whim. I can completely change someone's thoughts and memories, transforming them into someone to serve me and my wicked wishes."

"You can." Toothless whispered. "But you didn't. That's what sets you apart between you and a monster."

The vision faded away. Stoick took several steps back, away from the crystal. It was the world if Hiccup was a woman. It imagined if Hiccup never become one with the dragon. Instead, Hiccup could use magic. The dragon – Toothless – became her partner.

The chief looked around. Other people had gone to approach the crystals to check them out. They were curious. Some reared back in surprise upon touching them. Others broke down crying. Everyone had varying range of emotion.

Meanwhile, Hiccup was holding onto himself. He could not let himself absorbed by the power. He leaned on his memories and emotions, leaning onto Luna for support. The Light Fury was comforting him.

However, the floodgate was getting even wider. He growled as he started to feel himself slip once more.

He could not slip. He accidentally brought the humans to the ruins of Asgard. If he slipped, that would be it for them.

"Luna…" Hiccup whispered. His voice was weak.

"I'm here, Toothless." Luna crooned. She licked his neck, comforting him. She noticed that the red glow was slowly returning.

"Tell me that I won't lose myself…" The Night Fury whispered once more. His eyes were half lidded. "… Tell me something I don't know."

"You won't lose yourself in this, Toothless." Luna spoke, sounding determined. "You've gotten this far. I believe in you."

The Light Fury paused. She pondered for a moment. "There is one thing that you don't know." She admitted. "It was meant as a surprise for you."

Hiccup weakly chuckled. He turned his head to look at her. "What is it…"

"Toothless." Luna spoke as she stared at his eyes. "… I'm pregnant."

Hiccup froze. He looked at her stomach. He could feel new souls inside her, developing and forming into eggs. It looked to be new, meaning that she became pregnant somewhat recently. Based on the scent, he was the father.

Emotions rolled in his heart. Pure, unadulterated happiness overwhelmed him. Everything was forgotten. The pain and mental exhaustion was forgotten. Hiccup slowly stood from the ground. He moved and nuzzled her.

Tears build in his eyes. "I'm going to be a father." He whispered.

Luna smiled. "We're going to have hatchlings together." She whispered back. "Isn't it something that you always wanted?"

Hiccup kissed her. Their tongue danced for a moment, before he let her go. The Night Fury gave her the brightest smile she had ever seen. "Yes."

"Push through it for me." Luna urged. "Don't lose yourself for your hatchling. I- no. We believe in you."

Hiccup felt relentless. He spread his legs and push through it. He mentally slammed onto the dam, trying to break them all at once. It had been the floodgate for the power and knowledge to flow through. If he broke through them, everything would come crashing down to him at once.

However, Hiccup did not care. He wanted to make it fast for Luna. He wanted to do it fast for his future hatchlings. He did not want to torture himself for it. The Night Fury had enough!

Slowly, the sky began to brighten. The humans noticed this. They looked at Hiccup. His body was glowing blue. The green electricity around him were crackling violently. It grew bigger and bigger.

Clouds started to form in the sky. Green lightning began striking violently. It was loud, very loud. It looked as if the gods were angry.

"Luna…" Hiccup whispered. He stared at her with unrelenting vehemence in his eyes. "Move."

The Light Fury did as she was told. Luna let him go and moved several steps away from him. After she put some distance between them, Hiccup reared his head. He inhaled and let out an ear-splitting roar to the sky.

The dam broke. It shattered into pieces. Knowledge and power instantly flooded his very soul. Green lightning from the clouds began striking the Night Fury, injecting even more power into him. The screech grew louder and higher. Everyone covered their eyes as the light was getting too bright for them.

Suddenly, a huge, massive lightning struck Hiccup.

Then, everything went black.

Stoick opened his eyes. It was the third time already. He hoped it was not a reoccurring theme for the day. The man slowly stood up from the ground. He looked around the place, taking in his surroundings.

Everyone was back at the King's nest. Everything looked normal, with some changes around the place. The tendrils were simply wooden trunks. The sky was blue, and the sun went back to normal. The ocean was blue. The tree-like tendrils outside had turned into a flourishing, massive trees.

Dragons were flying all over the place. They were confused and disoriented. The call on their mind had completely vanished. Everyone was a wild dragon. Majority of them fled, going back to their own nests. However, some came down to check on their riders, who were on the ground for some reason.

His Rumblehorn came to him. He nuzzled him, concerned. "Stoick, are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Stoick spoke as he slowly got up. He balanced himself for a moment, holding onto his dragon. "Thank you, Skullcrusher."

The chief looked around. Everyone was slowly getting up from the ground. They greeted their dragons, feeling confused and disoriented. They did not know what just happened back then. Everything was going so fast.

Stoick let out a sigh. He looked down and noticed that his sword was on the ground. He picked it up and concealed it in his belt. Looking ahead, he saw Hiccup and Luna standing in front of them.

Hiccup looked normal. There was nothing out of ordinary, except his green acidic eyes that looked powerful. He was still bigger than before. Luna was nuzzling and leaning onto the Night Fury, who was simply staring at him with neutral expression.

"Hiccup." Stoick started.

The Night Fury approached him. He stopped right in front of him. The chief slowly pulled him into a hug. The dragon rested his head on his shoulder.

"Is it over?" Stoick asked.

"Yes, dad." He heard Hiccup spoke. He sounded happy. "It's over."

The chief let go of him. Hiccup took a few steps back. Stoick looked behind him. The others were carefully approaching them. They were still wary of him. They slowly relaxed upon seeing the soft expression on his face.

Valka stood next to her husband. She inspected him. "I guess you're the King of All Dragons now." She decided.

Hiccup chuckled. "I wish it was that simple." He humorously responded.

Suddenly, Luna called out. "You can reintroduce yourself to them."

Deciding that was the case, Hiccup took few more steps back. Looking at them, he started. "Hello."

"All of you may know me as Hiccup, but my dragons know me as Toothless." Hiccup explained to him. "I just defeated the King of All Dragons and took the title. Not the best experience, mind you. I hope that didn't happen again."

The people there nervously chuckled. The dragons were curious. They could not sense anything from the Night Fury. He spoke through something where everyone could understand him, regardless of language barrier.

Hiccup did not smell like a dragon. He smelled like something more than that.

"… I am Toothless." Hiccup finally declared. "The Dragon God of this world."

The dragons finally realised who he was. Their former alpha had ascended and became a god. The humans were weary. They had been fighting against Drago Bludvist, who self-proclaimed himself as the dragon god.

"Technically, it's the God of Dragons." The Night Fury clarified. Then, he looked away. "Oh man, I didn't do things just as is. I had to become a god." He muttered.

Valka took a step forward. "It's better you than Drago." She declared.

Luna came to him. "I agree with Valka." She declared as well. "Toothless had united us against common enemies. He had brought peace between humans and dragons, regardless of who we were fighting against. He spoke against genocide of humans. He deserved this."

The humans and dragons began nodding to each other. They seemed to agree with it. He had showed them that humans and dragons were more than what they were.

Hiccup looked happy. "Thank you." He softly spoke. "… I won't let any of you down."

Camicazi came to them. "We know you won't." She spoke. The Bog-Burglar heir smiled at him. "I got something out of it at least. Lots of gold and jewellery off the ships."

Some of the humans groaned at what she just said. The others checked their pockets, making sure that nothing was missing. The Night Fury stared at her with fond expression. "I'm glad you enjoyed something out of this."

"HA!"

Hiccup suddenly ducked. A certain Terrible Terror flew right over his head. It landed between him and his father. "I'll kill you! There can only be one dragon god!"

"Wait." Stoick stared at the small dragon. "Drago?"

The Terrible Terror turned to look at the chief. "You should've been dead!" He screamed. "You should've died a long time ago in that fire! I'll finish what I started!"

The Terrible Terror – now known as Drago – leaped towards Stoick, teeth bared. The chief dodged out of the way and pulled out his sword. Drago crashed onto the ground. He turned around and hissed at Stoick.

Suddenly, someone scooped him up from the ground, threw him into a metal cage and closed it shut. Drago did not have the time to react. Looking up to the culprit, it was Camicazi. She was holding him up in the small cage. The woman was grinning widely.

"Hahah!" She exclaimed. "I knew this cage would be useful."

Astrid came next to her. "You mean the cage you stole." She deadpanned.

"I borrowed it." Camicazi clarified. "And besides, it's not like they're going to need them anymore. Because, you know, they're dead."

"LET ME OUT OF HERE!" Drago screamed as he began trashing around. "I AM DRAGO BLUDVIST! I AM A DRAGON GOD! I WILL NOT BE CAGED LIKE A DRAGON!"

Stoick tightened his grip on his sword. "You're no dragon god, Drago." He growled.

The Terrible Terror glared at him. He concentrated as he prepared himself to fire a fireball. The chief prepared himself. The dragon reared back and fired. However, it only came out as a small, tiny smoke. It slumped, exhausted by the effort.

The chief relaxed himself. Camicazi laughed. "Wow. That was really scary for a 'dragon god'." She taunted.

Drago growled. "Shut up!"

Hiccup approached. He was fascinated by the tiny Terrible Terror in the cage. Valka noticed this. She looked at him. "Why is he still a dragon?"

"I… forgot to turn him back." Hiccup responded, embarrassed. "I restored everything here. I remember returning his memory. But I forgot that I turned him into a dragon when… you know…"

"Let him be a dragon." Stoick decided. He nodded to himself. "It should be a punishment for him."

"In that case, I'll take his fire away from him." Hiccup spoke. He willed something in his mind. Drago gasped as he felt something missing from him. "Just in case."

"No. NO!" Drago roared. He began trashing around. "Let me out of here. Let me out of here! You will not cage me here!"

"You deserve everything you get." Stoick firmly spoke. He holstered the sword.

Then, Gobber came next to him. He looked at the cage. Drago was foaming on his mouth, screaming and yelling at everyone. "What should we do to him?"

"We can always put him on display." Astrid suggested.

"Oh!" Camicazi suddenly got an idea. "We can always toy with him! Like this!" She began shaking the cage. Drago was thrown all over the place. After some time, she stopped. The Terrible Terror was dizzy and disoriented.

"Are we really going to torture him like that?" The Berkian teen asked, concerned.

"It's Drago." Camicazi shrugged. "… right?"

Everyone looked at Hiccup. The Night Fury nodded. "It's Drago in different body." He explained to them. "No venom. No fire. He's mostly harmless."

"I can't believe he would end like that." Valka whispered.

The Terrible Terror looked purple. He looked at Hiccup. "You accursed Night Fury!" He roared. "This is all your fault!"

"I'll kill your parents!" Drago screamed at him. "I'll kill everyone you love! I'll rape your wife and your kids! I'll rip your heart out and feed you to my dragons!"

Hiccup narrowed his eyes. "Shut up."

They were just two simple words. However, the sheer power behind the voice was indescribable. Everyone inhaled their breath as they felt pure rage and malice in his voice. It was far more than what they felt before. However, it did not strike fear to them, as the voice was not directed to them.

Drago felt utter, complete terror in his body. No pun intended. His eyes were wide, body violently shaking. He was terrified of Hiccup.

He was so terrified that he pooped on the cage.

It instantly calmed Hiccup, as he found it hilarious. The Night Fury laughed. "So scared that you blew your undies?"

Everyone laughed. The crowds behind them laughed as well. They felt relieved. Drago Bludvist had been terrorizing them for years. It felt great to see him reduced to something like that.

Stoick turned around. Everyone had come closer to them, observing the tiny dragon that was Drago Bludvist. The chief smiled at them. "Everyone!" He boomed, getting their attention. "The war is over!"

"We fought and won against Drago Bludvist." Stoick declared. "We won the war against the King. We're united and my son had become the dragon god."

"Let us return and celebrate!" The chief shouted.

The crowd roared in agreement. Hiccup felt Luna leaning onto him. He nuzzled her cheek, happy to know that she was there for him.

"It's over." Luna whispered.

"Yeah." Hiccup muttered. He leaned onto her. "… It's over."
