Chapter 2: The Forgotten World
Kano woke up feeling as though a heavy stone was pressing down on him. His eyes slowly opened, finding himself lying in a small bed with a thin blanket covering his body.
Around him, the room looked simple, like an ancient dormitory. Rough wooden walls, a small table with an oil lamp, and an open window revealing the view of a village bathed in morning light.
"You're awake?"
Kano turned toward the voice. Reina stood in the corner of the room, arms crossed as she leaned against the wall. Her tattered adventurer's clothes had been replaced with a simple tunic.
"Where am I?" Kano asked.
"In the Cressida Adventurer's Guild," Reina answered casually. "I brought you here after you passed out. You're really heavy, you know?"
Kano sat up slowly, his body feeling better now, though the lingering fatigue remained. He looked at Reina and asked, "Adventurer's guild? What's that?"
Reina furrowed her brow. "Are you serious? You don't know what an adventurer's guild is?"
Kano nodded. "This world... is not my original place."
Reina stared at him, confused. "Not your original place? What do you mean?"
Kano paused for a moment, searching for the right words. "I come from a different world. A world where there's no magic, no dragons, no... things like this. A world full of technology, machines, and science."
Reina went silent, trying to process Kano's words. Finally, she laughed softly. "That's quite a story. But you don't need to make up tales like that for me. If you don't want to tell me who you really are, that's your business."
"I'm not lying," Kano replied seriously.
Before Reina could respond, the door to the room opened. A large man with a thick beard entered. His leather clothes marked him as a senior adventurer.
"Reina," he said in a deep voice. "What are you doing bringing a stranger here without permission?"
Reina huffed. "He's no ordinary person. He saved me from the guardian creature outside the city ruins."
The man fixed his gaze on Kano, his eyes sharp as an eagle's. "What were you doing in that forbidden ruin, stranger?"
Kano stood, despite still feeling weak. "I don't know. When I woke up, I was already there."
The man squinted, then turned to Reina. "Are you sure he's not dangerous?"
Reina nodded. "He even defeated the guardian creature by himself. In a... very strange way. I think he might be a high-level sorcerer, or something more."
The man raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. After a moment, he turned and walked toward the door. "Fine. But you're responsible for him, Reina. If he causes trouble, it's on you."
After the man left, Reina turned to Kano. "That's Azrak, one of the veteran adventurers here. He may look tough, but he's actually quite kind... once you get to know him."
Kano nodded quietly, but his mind was elsewhere. This world was becoming more confusing by the moment. Adventurer guild? Magic? Monsters? All of it felt like a fairy tale. Yet his own body—with the glowing runes and mysterious power—was proof that he was truly in a different place.
"Reina," he said, breaking the silence. "Can you tell me more about this world?"
Reina paused for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. But you'll have to come with me. I'll show you everything."

Outside the Guild
Kano followed Reina out of the guild. The building was a large wooden house with a sign reading "Cressida Adventurer's Guild." Outside, the streets were filled with people dressed in various attires—some looked like farmers, others like warriors with swords at their sides.
"This is a small town called Lyndor," Reina explained. "One of the last towns still safe from monsters. Here, the adventurer's guild is the center of everything. We protect the people, hunt monsters, and take on any missions given."
"Monsters?" Kano asked.
Reina nodded. "This world is filled with dangerous creatures. Some are just regular animals mutated by magical energy, but others are far worse—dragons, hydras, and ancient beasts. Without guilds, ordinary people have no chance against them."
Kano looked into the distance. The town seemed peaceful, but beyond its walls, a wild forest with dark mist enveloped the horizon. This world wasn't just foreign to him—it also felt deadly.
"Have you ever heard of technology?" Kano suddenly asked.
Reina furrowed her brow. "Technology? That's like ancient tools mentioned in history books, right? They say humans used to have amazing things, but that's just a legend. What we know is that humanity has relied on magic for a long time."
Kano sighed. This world had truly changed, or perhaps forgotten something important.
"But there's one thing I don't understand," Reina said, looking at Kano. "How can your body use magic like that? Even the best sorcerers can't make energy form into a sword like you did."
Kano didn't answer. He didn't know the answer either. However, deep inside, he felt that his new body wasn't just a miracle. There was something behind this power, something that might have come from his old world.
