Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Liang Xing's Carefree Life

The village was buzzing with life, its cobblestone paths bustling with merchants hawking their wares and children darting through the crowd in endless games of chase. Standing in the center of it all, Liang Xing scratched the back of his head, his face a perfect blend of exasperation and amusement.

"I swear, it wasn't me this time," he said, raising his hands in mock surrender.

Before him stood an irate baker, holding up what had once been a fresh loaf of bread, now reduced to crumbs and soggy bite marks. At his feet, Snowflake, his small but ferociously mischievous husky beast, sat wagging its tail, panting as if proud of its latest escapade.

"You call that thing a pet?" the baker fumed, pointing at Snowflake. "It's a menace!"

Liang knelt down, scratching behind Snowflake's ears as if unaware of the chaos his companion had caused. "He's not a menace," Liang said with a grin. "He's just... enthusiastic about local cuisine."

The crowd burst into laughter, diffusing the tension. The baker sighed, shaking his head. "Just keep him away from my shop, Liang. One more loaf and I'll send you the bill."

As the villagers dispersed, Liang stood, brushing dust off his simple tunic. "Snowflake, one of these days, your appetite's going to land us both in trouble."

Snowflake yipped in response, bouncing on its tiny legs as if daring Liang to try and keep up with its boundless energy.

A Stroll Through the Village-

Liang wandered through the village, humming a tune as he admired the vibrant world around him. The sun cast a warm glow over the fields, and the air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers and freshly baked bread. For Liang, every day was an opportunity to enjoy life's little pleasures watching the clouds drift lazily across the sky, feeling the earth beneath his feet, or stumbling upon a particularly interesting bug.

Today's mission was simple: sell a boiled egg. He carried the egg carefully in a small basket, the single item a result of his morning trek to the forest. He reached the village market and set up a small wooden table, placing the egg in the center with an almost comical level of care.

"Freshly boiled egg! Perfect for breakfast or a snack!" Liang called out with dramatic flair.

Villagers passed by, some chuckling at his antics, others stopping to chat. Though his earnings were modest, Liang didn't mind. He enjoyed the rhythm of village life the gentle predictability of it.

Snowflake, however, had other ideas. The little husky beast darted away, returning moments later with a scarf in its mouth.

"Snowflake! No!" Liang leapt over the table, chasing his mischievous companion through the market.

Liang's Leisurely Life-

By midday, Liang found himself reclining under a shady tree on the outskirts of the village, the scarf safely returned to its rightful owner after profuse apologies. Snowflake lay beside him, gnawing on a stick.

"This is the life," Liang sighed, hands behind his head. "No worries, no responsibilities, just me, you, and the great outdoors."

Snowflake yipped in agreement or maybe it was a complaint about the lack of snacks. Liang wasn't sure.

His daily routine was one of simplicity and contentment. He'd wake up when the sun warmed his tiny hut, wander through the village, and spend hours exploring the nearby forest. Occasionally, he'd trade eggs or wild herbs for essentials, but ambition was a foreign concept to him.

"I don't get why people are so obsessed with glory and riches," Liang mused aloud. "What's wrong with just... being?"

Snowflake tilted its head as if pondering the question, then promptly dashed off to chase a butterfly.

Snowflake's Antics-

Life with Snowflake was never dull. The energetic husky beast had a knack for finding trouble. Just last week, it had stolen a pair of socks from the village tailor, leading Liang on a wild goose chase through the fields. Then there was the time it had cornered a goat, barking furiously as if the poor creature was an ancient foe.

Today was no different. As Liang strolled through the village square, Snowflake decided to investigate a merchant's cart piled high with cabbages. Before Liang could stop it, the little beast had leapt into the cart, sending vegetables tumbling to the ground.

"Snowflake! Stop embarrassing me!" Liang groaned, hauling the squirming beast out of the wreckage.

The merchant waved him off with a chuckle. "Don't worry about it, Liang. That little rascal keeps things lively around here."

Though Snowflake's antics often left Liang red-faced, he couldn't help but love the creature. It was his constant companion, a source of endless amusement and occasional frustration.

An Unexpected Detour-

Later that afternoon, Liang decided to venture into the forest to collect more eggs. It was a routine trip, one he'd made countless times before. He followed familiar paths, humming to himself as he admired the towering trees and dappled sunlight.

Snowflake trotted ahead, sniffing every rock and bush along the way.

But today, something felt different. The forest was quieter than usual, the air heavy with an unspoken tension. Liang frowned, glancing around. "You notice anything weird, Snowflake?"

Snowflake barked once, then took off running.

"Hey! Wait up!" Liang called, breaking into a jog.

He followed Snowflake down a narrow trail he didn't recognize, the dense foliage pressing in around him. The usual landmarks gnarled trees, moss-covered rocks were nowhere to be seen.

Panic began to creep in as he realized he was lost. "Snowflake, where are you?"

A distant bark guided him forward, deeper into the unknown.

After what felt like hours, Liang stumbled into a small clearing.
