Gerald's POV
Going away from the field and getting to the room, one of my men had followed me. He stood outside the door while I entered.
I sat on the floor, resting my back against the bed. The sound from the feast was still loud enough to pass through the door and walls to get to me, but I needed to focus.
"Alex."
The connection between us was intact, but his response was slow. That pushed me further into what I thought I needed to do. His occasional silence wasn't soothing, especially since he was supposed to watch out for Leah.
"Alex." I called again.
I waited for more than a minute before I heard him speak.
"Amon is standing so close to the room." He went silent for a few seconds. "He's about to enter."
In response to that, I disconnected myself from Alex, and sitting on the floor, I shot myself out from the sounds coming from the feast.
