The tractor's engine seemed ready to burst from the speed the machine reached, leaving Livya surprised, as she hadn't expected such velocity. From the walls, gunshots cut through the night, and the nails hit the protective shell without any effectiveness, but they didn't stop.
When the wooden gate was struck, a crack signaled the rest of the group to run toward the madness. The tractor pushed the gates with no difficulty, taking fire from the sides. The Ravens who followed Sandy crowded in front of the vehicle, protected by the shell, waiting for the right moment to strike back, and that's exactly what they did.
They used the shell for protection while counterattacking. Naomi ran among the Ravens, not the first to enter, but the sound of fighting, metal against metal, was clearly heard, a noise Livya had become accustomed to. She saw that the fighters were of all ages and fought fiercely to protect the place from the attack.
Livya managed to spot Gabriel fighting near the remnants of the door. Chaos reigned all around, nails and bullets flying through the air. That's when she saw her.
Little Sister ran with a group, lifting a wall with tables. Holding her small axe, the Raven rushed toward the other woman, who didn't see the attack coming. She leaped while spinning the weapon, which bounced off the protection on the other's back.
Little Sister staggered, trying to understand what had just happened. Taking advantage of the moment, Livya moved in, letting the blade fall on the woman's protected thigh. Again, her hands vibrated with the impact.
Finally, the opponent was ready for combat; she had regained her balance and didn't suffer from the attacks. The holes in her iron mask stared toward Livya, and it was impossible to see her eyes.
The blow came. She swung the hammer downward, just like the attack that killed Samuel, but Livya managed to twist her body, passing close to the weapon's handle, with only one arm under the axe, which scraped the helmet.
The mask vibrated, and Little Sister staggered. Seeing this, Livya rained down attacks on her, but a push to her stomach sent the young woman flying two meters back. She fell heavily, fighting to catch her breath.
Livya had time to see the weapon come down, aimed at her head. Rolling to the side, she avoided it, hearing the sound of the earth being crushed. Getting to her feet, desperate as the hammer swung back toward her, she gripped the axe with both hands and spun her body.
The clash of weapons stopped the hammer's movement, saving Livya's life, though she couldn't feel her hands, which were trembling. The blade of her weapon cracked slightly; it was no longer possible to deflect another strike.
Little Sister attacked again, using the hammer like a spear, thrusting the piece of metal toward Livya's chest. Instinctively, Livya threw herself back, letting the attack pass through the air, and brought the axe down on the brute's hands, feeling something cut.
Screaming, the cavewoman raised one of her hands, now missing two fingers. Livya could hear her heartbeat in her ears, knowing the smallest mistake could cost her life.
"You can't handle Ravens in the open field?" Livya taunted. "You're weak; I'm already getting bored."
The taunts had an effect. The woman grabbed the hammer's handle with the remaining fingers of one hand, preparing a diagonal strike, which made Livya ready for the counterattack. Then, Little Sister stopped abruptly and spun in a circle, swinging the weapon with crushing speed.
Livya didn't have time to dodge, so she bent slightly and raised her weapon. The clash of the two weapons caused a shock that destroyed the small axe, sending some of its pieces into Livya's arms, but it was enough to lift the blow slightly, letting it pass through the air.
Holding only a twisted piece of metal, Livya sat down. She didn't feel the wounds on her arms; the adrenaline didn't allow it. Little Sister, frustrated with her mistake, was preparing to repeat the blow.
The Raven, trembling, slid her hand along her belt, where the throwing knives were kept, having an idea. She ran toward the other woman, throwing her knives. Little Sister ignored the attacks, holding the weapon with both hands, preparing herself.
Livya smiled victoriously, she was close enough to not miss. She grabbed a glass vial from the pouch attached to her belt and threw it at her opponent's helmet. As it collided, the glass shattered, releasing the poison inside.
Immediately, Little Sister raised her hands to her helmet, letting the weapon fall by her side. She took off the helmet, revealing a face with no nose or ears, and abnormally large, red eyes.
The woman screamed while rubbing her skin to the point of bleeding. Livya, holding the handle of her weapon, moved in, stabbing the iron into the other woman's right eye. The metal penetrated until it struck the inner part of the skull. After a few spasms, the brute fell, lifeless.
Livya felt her legs give out, and she fell to her knees. Tears streamed down her face; she had avenged her comrades.
