Chapter 6 - New Machine

Kabir was about to ask Sandeep the reason, but the call was disconnected. Kabir found it a little strange, but still quickly finished his lunch and said to Mahira, "I have to go, it's an emergency."

Mahira asked Kabir, "Suddenly?"

Kabir replied, "Yes, Sandeep called."

Mahira asked, "But what happened?"

Kabir said, "I don't know either, but it's some emergency. Otherwise, Sandeep wouldn't call me like this."

Kabir walked with long strides towards the lab. All the scientists were standing around a table when Kabir arrived.

Upon seeing Kabir, Sandeep said, "We were waiting for you." Kabir reached the table and asked, "What happened?" Dr. Devendra said, "Dr. Kabir, while having lunch, we were discussing this topic. From the discussion, we have reached this decision." Saying this, Dr. Devendra took out something resembling a hexagonal pen from his pocket and placed it on the table. This triggered a 3D hologram projection.

(This was not just a regular pen, but a multifunctional gadget developed from the evolution of smartphones, created by a company named Alpha+. The owner of Alpha+ was none other than Mr. Kant.)

Dr. Devendra started the 3D hologram projection with the pen, explaining the project. Through the 3D hologram, the outline of the project was shown. Dr. Devendra was explaining the project, and it was indeed quite impressive. Everyone was contributing to the design of this machine.

While explaining the project, Dr. Devendra said, "If the entire Multiverse project team works together, we can build this machine in just three to four days."

Kabir's eyes lit up after seeing the project. After hearing the complete design of the machine, he said, "Let's build it."

Just then, Mahira came into the Multiverse Project lab with her assistant Priya. Everyone was looking at the 3D hologram of the project. Mahira inspected the entire lab and spoke with the scientists about the project.

Mahira had complete knowledge of the Multiverse project. She often conducted such inspections of every department at least once a week. After a while, Mahira left the Multiverse Project department. During work hours, Mahira only talked about work, and when she wasn't working, she preferred not to discuss it.

People were afraid of Mahira; she was strict about work. At USRC, people feared Mahira even more than Kabir. If you were working on something and Mahira asked about it, and you couldn't explain it, you would likely be fired by evening or given a final warning.

After Mahira left, everyone got to work on building the machine. Everyone worked hard, and after three days, the machine was ready. But the question was, on whom should the test be conducted, as it would be better tested on a human.

Kabir said, "This machine can only be properly tested by a human. A person can remember the event from which two decisions emerge, leading to the birth of the Multiverse, and thus travel through it."

Sandeep replied, "But there could be risks. Who would want to put their life on the line?"

Kabir responded, "Maybe there's another solution."

Venky said, "Sir, I am ready to be tested on this machine." Kabir replied, "But we cannot risk any human life, whether it's you or an ordinary person."

Kabir added, "No matter what, we cannot risk a person's life. It would be better if we train an animal for the test."

A cat was chosen for the test. Sensors were attached to the cat's body to record what the cat was feeling and when. Two bowls of milk were placed in front of the cat, one blue and the other red. The cat had to choose which bowl to pick. The cat chose the red bowl. Everything the cat felt was recorded, and this was done for several days.

After collecting all the data, the cat was seated for the Multiverse journey test. The cat's brain was artificially triggered to remind it of the milk experiment. It was unclear whether the cat was truly recalling the moment when it chose the red bowl. The machine was activated for a two-minute test. The cat had entered the Multiverse, but it was difficult to determine if it had reached the Multiverse where it chose the blue bowl.

Just then, Venky saw a cat of the same type roaming in the lab. Venky asked, "Is this the same cat?" Everyone looked at the cat and said, "It is the same one." Kabir realized and said, "No, this is not the same cat that we were experimenting with. This one was sent from the Multiverse where the blue bowl was chosen."

This meant the experiment was successful. The cat returned to its original universe after two minutes.

Venky asked Dr. Devendra, "Sir, if our Multiverse exploration method is like this, then our versions in the Multiverse—who are also likely exploring the same thing—might be doing the same kind of research." Dr. Devendra said, "Absolutely, you are right. Our versions in the Multiverse are likely researching the same thing."

Now it was time to conduct the experiment on a human, but the question was, who would be the one to undergo this experiment?
