Xiaona glanced around the empty street, nodded at the muscular man, and approached Gu Nanyuan step by step.
Trapped between the two, Gu Nanyuan was forced into a side alley.
The narrow alley wasn't empty—several thugs were already waiting, smirking as they closed in.
With her back pressed against the cold brick wall, Gu Nanyuan pinched her thigh hard, the sharp pain snapping her partially out of her drunken haze.
"Hah…" she gasped softly, her chest heaving.
Xiaona crossed her arms, glaring at her with undisguised hatred. "So, you're Feng Xian's new girlfriend, huh?" Her lips curled into a nasty sneer. "You think you're better than me? Let's see how arrogant you are after my boyfriend and his buddies are done with you!"
She waved her hand toward the muscular man, who stared at Gu Nanyuan with a predatory gaze.
His lips curled into a grotesque smile as his eyes raked over her trembling figure. He licked his dry lips, his imagination running wild. "Damn, this one's a prize."
Unable to resist his dark urges, he stepped forward, stretching out his hand.
"What are you doing?!" Xiaona slapped his hand away. Her face twisted with rage. "You already have me! Disgusting pig!"
The muscular man's patience snapped. He shoved Xiaona with brute force, sending her sprawling onto the filthy ground.
"Get lost, you worthless cow," he spat, his face full of disdain. "You can't compare to her, not even in your wildest dreams."
Xiaona's shrill voice erupted as she hurled curses at him, but the man ignored her completely. Turning back to Gu Nanyuan, he lunged at her like a beast unleashed.
"Don't touch me!" Gu Nanyuan screamed, struggling desperately as he grabbed her arm.
Her voice only excited him further. With a loud *rip*, her blouse tore, revealing her smooth, pale shoulder.
"Damn," he muttered, his eyes darkening with lust.
Just as he reached out to touch her again, a cold, emotionless voice sliced through the tension.
"It seems you're ready to die."
Before the thug could even process the words, a fist smashed into his temple.
*Thud!*
The man staggered back, his ears ringing. Before he could recover, a sharp kick hit him square in the groin.
"AHHH!" he screamed, crumpling to the ground like a ragdoll. His eyes rolled back, and he passed out, his future happiness destroyed with that one blow.
The alley fell silent as all eyes turned to the attacker—**Feng Xian**.
Xiaona's jaw dropped. Was this the same Feng Xian she used to mock? When did this quiet guy become so terrifying?
"F-Feng Xian, let's get back together!" Xiaona stammered, scrambling to her feet.
Feng Xian turned to her, his eyes cold and sharp. Without a word, he slapped her across the face, the force sending her sprawling again.
"Get lost," he commanded, his voice low but menacing.
The remaining thugs didn't need another warning. They grabbed the unconscious muscular man and fled, dragging Xiaona along with them.
Now only Feng Xian and Gu Nanyuan remained.
Feng Xian removed his jacket and draped it over her trembling shoulders. "It's okay now," he said softly.
Gu Nanyuan looked up at him, her tear-streaked face full of relief. Without thinking, she threw herself into his arms.
Feng Xian sighed, wrapping his arms around her gently. As he held her, he noticed blood dripping from a gash on her arm.
"Your wound needs to be treated," he said, his voice firm. "There's a hotel nearby. Let's go."
---
Inside the hotel room, Feng Xian carefully laid Gu Nanyuan on the bed. She clung to him tightly, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Don't leave me… please…"
"Alright," Feng Xian murmured, stroking her hair to calm her.
After a long while, she finally loosened her grip, allowing him to step back. He called the front desk to request bandages and waited by her side until they arrived.
When the supplies were delivered, he gently disinfected and bandaged her wound.
"Ah, that hurts," Gu Nanyuan whimpered, her face scrunching up in pain.
"I'm being as gentle as I can," Feng Xian said with a faint smile.
Once the bandaging was done, he let out a breath of relief. But as he turned to leave, Gu Nanyuan hooked her arms around his neck, pulling him down onto the bed with her.
"Gu Nanyuan," Feng Xian said hoarsely, his eyes locking onto hers. "Do you even know what you're doing right now?"
She giggled, her drunken gaze filled with mischief. Her finger traced his face slowly. "You're so handsome… your nose, your lips… everything."
His restraint snapped.
"Alright, you asked for it."
Without hesitation, Feng Xian lowered his head and captured her lips in a searing kiss.
Gu Nanyuan's head spun, her body burning with heat. Dizzy and overwhelmed, she found herself unconsciously kissing back.
Feng Xian's last shred of control snapped. His hands reached for his waistband, ready to let his desires take over—
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A loud knock on the door shattered the moment.
Feng Xian froze, his jaw tightening. Whoever was at the door was relentless, their pounding loud enough to rattle the hinges.
"Seriously?" he muttered under his breath, irritation seeping into his tone.
Adjusting his rumpled shirt with a frustrated sigh, he marched to the door and yanked it open.
Before he could unleash his anger, a young woman stormed in, shoving him aside like he was a piece of furniture.
"What the hell are you doing?" Feng Xian demanded, his voice sharp.
The woman ignored him entirely, her attention zeroing in on Gu Nanyuan. Seeing her dazed and vulnerable on the bed, the intruder's face flushed with a mix of rage and concern.
She moved swiftly, pulling the blanket over Gu Nanyuan before turning to glare daggers at Feng Xian.
"You scumbag!" she hissed, her voice trembling with fury. "Were you about to take advantage of my second sister?!"
Feng Xian's eyes narrowed, studying the intruder. Her short black hair framed an angelic, pale face. Dressed simply in a black dress, she radiated an air of innocence that was starkly at odds with the fire in her eyes. Recognition flickered in his gaze.
"Li Li," he murmured under his breath.
The fifth sister of the Zhang family. Known as a genius hacker and introverted loner, she rarely interacted with others. Feng Xian had forgotten about her tendency to track her sisters' locations using their phones. She must've noticed Gu Nanyuan's unusual movements—from the bar to the hotel—and come rushing in.
Li Li didn't wait for an explanation. Her anger boiled over as she pointed at Feng Xian. "You're coming with me to the police!"
Feng Xian smirked, unfazed by her fury. "And what if I don't?"
Li Li didn't respond with words. Instead, she lunged at him, her movements quick and precise. Her fist shot toward his face, her intent crystal clear.
Feng Xian's smirk deepened as he sidestepped her punch with ease. "You're fast, but not fast enough," he taunted.
Undeterred, Li Li swung again, her attacks fueled by sheer determination. But Feng Xian was no amateur. He dodged her strikes effortlessly, catching her wrist mid-swing and twisting it just enough to immobilize her.
Before she could react, he spun her around and pinned her against the sofa.
"Done yet?" he asked, his tone mocking as he leaned closer. His free hand brushed her cheek teasingly. "With a face like that, you should smile more."
"Let me go, you jerk!" Li Li spat, struggling against his grip.
"Dr. Feng, Xiaoli, stop fighting!"
The voice made them both pause.
Turning their heads, they saw Gu Nanyuan sitting upright on the bed, her coat draped loosely over her shoulders. Her voice was calm, but there was a hint of embarrassment in her expression.
"For Ms. Gu's sake," Feng Xian said, releasing Li Li with a chuckle, "I'll let this slide."
Li Li glared at him, fists clenching as if she wanted to take another swing. But Gu Nanyuan intervened.
"It's not what you think, Xiaoli," she said softly, her cheeks tinged red. "Dr. Feng helped me. He saved me and even bandaged my wound."
Li Li's fiery demeanor faltered as she glanced at her sister, confusion flickering in her eyes. "What?"
Gu Nanyuan raised her arm, showing the bandage as proof. "He didn't hurt me. He helped me."
Li Li's gaze darted between the two, suspicion etched across her face. But Gu Nanyuan's sincerity was hard to ignore. Reluctantly, she backed down, muttering under her breath, "Fine. But I'm watching you."
Before leaving, Gu Nanyuan turned to Feng Xian, bowing slightly. "I apologize for Xiaoli's behavior. She doesn't mean any harm; she's just... overprotective."
Feng Xian waved it off. "Don't worry about it."
As the sisters left, Li Li's piercing gaze lingered on him, her thoughts unmistakable: I'm not done with you yet.
---
In the car, Li Li's frustration boiled over. "Second sister, who is that guy? And why are you defending him?"
Gu Nanyuan hesitated, her voice barely above a whisper. "His name is Feng Xian."
Li Li's eyes widened. "Wait—the Feng Xian? The guy who fought his brother for the family fortune?!"
Gu Nanyuan nodded. "But he's not what people say. He's... different."
Li Li crossed her arms, skeptical. "Yeah, right. If he's so 'different,' why would he bring a drunk woman to a hotel room?"
Gu Nanyuan shook her head. "Nothing happened, Xiaoli. I promise."
Li Li studied her sister closely but said nothing. In her mind, though, the wheels were already turning. This isn't over. I'll find out who Feng Xian really is.
---
Back at the hotel, Feng Xian strolled out of the room, his mind replaying the kiss.
In the elevator, a woman with heavy makeup and a tight dress leaned against him suggestively.
"Handsome," she purred, her voice dripping with allure, "need some company?"
Feng Xian brushed her off without hesitation. "Not interested."
After encountering women like Han Yue and Gu Nanyuan, ordinary attempts at seduction felt meaningless.
He hailed a cab back to the Feng family villa, his thoughts clouded with frustration. As he stepped inside, he heard the sound of running water.
Ling Qingxiao was in the shower.
For a moment, Feng Xian considered his options. Should I take care of this... tension first?
He smirked, shaking his head. "What a day."
