Chapter 25 - ch25

"Is this the little green dinosaur?"

After seeing the Pokémon pictures displayed on the Pokédex, Ryan was quite curious.

Jack was also puzzled. It looked like a reptile standing on two legs, somewhat reminiscent of the little dinosaurs he saw in cartoons as a child.

"Boss, help my cousin with this," Ryan called out to Alex, who was packing energy cubes.

"Okay, let me take a look," Alex responded, walking over. He frowned slightly as he examined the image.

"Larvitar..."

Alex licked his lips and studied the picture of Larvitar with a curious expression. Wow.

In the past three days, this was the second time Larvitar had been drawn, but the previous customer was scared off by Larvitar's price.

"Boss, you seem surprised?" Jack noticed the change in Alex's expression.

"Ah~ Mr. Chen, you've drawn an extraordinary little guy," Alex nodded, then said to Jack with a smile.

"Boss, is this little dinosaur very powerful?"

Ryan and Jack were taken aback by his words, and after hesitating for a while, Ryan asked Alex tentatively.

What did he mean by an extraordinary little guy? Was it simply strong, or did it mean more?

"Don't worry, I'm not joking. This little guy is an exceptional Pokémon in every sense," Alex assured them, deliberately using the adjective 'exceptional.'

"Could you explain more, boss?"

Jack was immediately intrigued. After all, this was the Pokémon he had drawn, and he wanted to know more about it.

"Of course, let me put it this way," Alex pondered for a moment.

"Pokémon are magical creatures, I think you both have already experienced this."

"And every Pokémon is a natural warrior, possessing abilities and unique skills that we humans don't have, designed specifically for Pokémon competition."

"Although there are many kinds, in the grand scheme, they are all unified as Pokémon, and this is why certain species always stand at the top among Pokémon—it is inevitable."

Alex's speech was methodical and clear, capturing Ryan and Jack's attention.

"It's like the mythical creatures in our world's legends—dragons, phoenixes, unicorns, and many other legendary beings that command respect and awe."

"There are similar beings in the Pokémon world. Some can resurrect the dead, some rule the seas, some live in the ozone layer to guard the planet, some control time, space, and antimatter, and so on."

"And these are collectively known as Legendary Pokémon, revered as gods."

Alex smiled.

"So this..."

Jack's breathing quickened slightly. He didn't know if what Alex said about Pokémon was true, but what if it was?

Ryan's eyes were gleaming with excitement.

"No, Larvitar is not a Legendary Pokémon," Alex shook his head.

"Legendary Pokémon possess unimaginable power, and their traces have long disappeared, but among Pokémon, there are those who stand at the pinnacle."

"They are so powerful that they are considered only slightly less than gods, hence they are called quasi-legendary or pseudo-legendary Pokémon."

"And Larvitar is the hatchling of a quasi-legendary Pokémon."

Ryan looked at the image of Larvitar on the Pokédex.

"Quasi-legendary Pokémon!"

Ryan exclaimed, looking at the Larvitar image. Wow!

Just listen to the title, quasi-legendary, quasi-god—it sounds so prestigious, right?

A Pokémon that is only slightly less powerful than the gods! How strong must that be?

Wow!

Did cousin step in luck today? He managed to draw Larvitar on his first try.

Ryan was envious, deeply envious.

"Boss, I want this Larvitar! How much?" Jack's chest heaved slightly, but he quickly regained his composure and spoke to Alex decisively.

No one else is getting this! Larvitar is mine today!

What does it mean to draw Larvitar on the first try? It's destiny's guidance!

Yes, a quasi-god Pokémon like Larvitar, with its prestige, matches someone like Master Chen perfectly!

"The price of Larvitar?"

Alex was silent for a moment.

"The price of Larvitar is sixty million."

Hiss~

Ryan took a deep breath.

Sixty... million?

Jack was shocked when he heard the price.

"Boss, are you sure you didn't make a mistake?" Ryan asked in disbelief.

Wow, sixty million is outrageous.

Both of his little foxes together cost less than 400,000!

Sixty million—this is a colossal sum. Many people can't earn that much in a lifetime, or even in several lifetimes.

Even elites with a million-a-year salary would have to work 60 years without spending a cent to earn 60 million.

"That's correct, it's sixty million, which is already a discounted price."

Alex shook his head and replied firmly. He knew the price was shocking.

"Our store operates with integrity and doesn't engage in deceitful business. Larvitar is absolutely worth the price, and I'm not trying to deceive customers. I can guarantee that."

"And with all due respect, if you draw Larvitar in the future, it will only cost more."

Alex spoke sincerely to the silent Jack, with a firm and honest tone.

This was why the previous customer who drew Larvitar even called Alex a 'lunatic' before leaving.

At this price, many might think Alex was money-crazed.

But Alex knew that Larvitar was worth every penny. Even in the Pokémon world, Larvitar was an extremely rare quasi-legendary Pokémon, found only in the depths of Mt. Silver.

Not to mention that Larvitar from Alex's store would have top-notch talent and potential, making it even more valuable.

Moreover, sixty million is just the current price. As Pokémon become more popular in this world, Alex wouldn't hesitate to price it at a hundred million!

"Sixty million..."

Jack's brow furrowed slightly at the price, then he looked at Alex for a moment before his gaze returned to the Pokédex.

Sixty million is no small amount for him. His company's current market value is just thirty million. Even if he sold his company, he couldn't afford Larvitar.

But his family is wealthy, and sixty million isn't too much. If he asked his parents, his father would probably give it to him.

Yet he hesitated, or rather, he was extremely hesitant.
