" you're not allowed to hit a staff " His deep voice echoed
Mrs Smith couldn't believe her eyes she had wondered who had the effontery to hold her back.
"How dare you hold me back?, who do you think you are to interfere on this?, Do you even know who I am?"
"I don't know who you're but what I know is that you'll be asked to leave, if you try to disgrace my staffs. I won't accept such insolence from a guest."
Susan looks at Kelvin,she couldn't believe he had just stood up for her.
" Your staffs?" It occurred to her that she was talking to the C.E.O.
She couldn't utter a word anymore, she knew she was no match with the president's Son. She turns around and leaves out of shame, while her assistant follows her.
Kelvin turns to Susan
"Are you okay?" He said looking her in the eye. She still couldn't believe Kelvin stood up for her. His voice suddenly gave her goosebumps.
"Yes, I am fine"
His secretary comes out and apologizes to everyone for the scene caused.
Kelvin walks upstage and introduces himself he gave a heart felt speech. While Susan keept staring at him.
"... I'll love to create an atmosphere where staffs and customers can freely express themselves. Both staff and customers are to be treated with respect and dignity irrespective of class and social status"
Everyone present rose to give a round of applause to him . He gave a bow and walks down the stage.
Kelvin was interacting with the guests and t exchanging pleasantries when he received a phone call, he excuses himself to pick the call.
Susan sees him leave and follows him. She wanted to thank him for standing up for her.
He ends his call and turns back to see Susan.
"Mrs Susan what are you doing out here?"
"I wanted to thank you for standing up for me earlier, I am honoured sir"
" Don't mention, you're my staff and I have to be responsible for you" he said with a smile.
Susan wasn't sure what to say next, she was thinking whether to tell him they attended the same high school when he broke the silence.
" I have to get going now, can I be excused?"
"Oh of course sir"
Kelvin walks into the hall back, while Susan watches him as he leaves.
She walks in thinking of how kelvin had grown to be a handsome and responsible gentle man. She remembers how mischievous and carefree he had been in high school. She wonders if he was the same kelvin she had known. She smiles and speaks out to herself
"Money is capable of changing people"
" It really is "
Susan was taken back from her thoughts by the voice of someone behind her. She was startled and turns to check who had responded to her.
"You startled me Jane"
Jane laughs
"Relax girl"
She had been looking for Susan to hear the full gist from her.
"Girl you were on fire today. I couldn't believe my eyes when you landed that slap on her face, She deserves it "
Susan realizing she had come to talk about the quarrel, she smiles
"Jane?"
"What?, did you see her face. I'm sure she wouldn't recover from the humiliation for days"
"She had a taste of her own medicine"
They both laugh. Jane lowers her voice like to whisper
" Mr kelvin was like a hero, it felt like though I was watching a romantic drama. The way he held her hands from hitting you and defending you was like a lover defending his love".Jane laughs
"Stop saying nonsense. He was just looking out for his staff, I can't believe you had such a thought, you have to stop watching romantic dramas" she walks away from Jane, she doesn't want her to get into her head.
The rest of the night was wonderful and filled with laughter. Everybody dined and wined without anyone feeling left out.
Susan went out of the restaurant, it was late already and she had wanted to go home. She enters her car and drives home, on her way she decided to branch at her boyfriend's apartment. She saw her boyfriend with a lady entering into his apartment, she parks her car down and sees them kissing and romancing each other outside.
Susan heart shattered, she couldn't believe he had been cheating. she watches as the two enter into the building .
She was utterly shocked, she just sat down, she couldn't cry nor even shout. She felt betrayed, she had trusted him. She remembered how he had denied ever cheating on her. She wanted to get down of the car and cause a fight. But she didn't have the strength, she felt he wasn't worth it.
She had seen the signs but she kept ignoring it. She felt she had been fooled and cheated. She was staring outside through the windshield of the car without looking at anything in particular, she just gazed at the sir.
She finally got the strength to leave there. she was in thoughts as she drove herself to her apartment. she gets home few minutes later. she lays on her bed and stares at the ceiling. She remembers when her relationship started, how she had always been the one sacrificing and giving her all for the relationship. She even paid his rent. She had worked herself up trying to please him with her money.
She realized she had been used and played. She was pained. She chuckles, which later changed to a laugh and then she started crying, she wept bitterly.
The next morning was a Saturday and Susan woke up late, she had wept overnight making her extremely tired. She couldn't eat nor do anything she just layed on her bed while tears rolled down her cheek. Her bed was already soiled with tears. She tried speaking positive things or encouraging things to herself but she just couldn't stop crying, even when she tries to change her thoughts by going through social media.
She comes across relationship skits which makes her cry more.
She drops her phone down and closes her eyes.
